@Alexander Challis An old friend of my family always said that the 60th were the only regiment in the British Army allowed to "chew gum on parade" - The 60th Royal American Rifles.
Remember the Glockenspiel in the 3RGJ band in late 60’s early 70’s also the chewing gum gag often used by recruiting C/Sgt Hughes 2 Green Jackets late 60’s.
With so much good music available, what plonker chose Mechanised Infantry as the regimental march. It's a good march in itself, but does not suit the Rifles.
Tim Graham-Jones I thought the same when it was chosen. However the history of the march is that Mech Inf was written in the 1930s when the Rifle Brigade or the the Kings Royal Rifle Corps (I’ve forgotten which Regiment!) became mechanised infantry when the British Army began to use the Universal Carrier , also called the Bren Gun carrier. That’s what I was told 25 years ago. But you’re right, Mech Inf is a great march but there’s many better or more appropriate marches.
Richard Bond hahahahaha it is one of my favourite marches to this day! I live in France now and Sambre et Meuse is a very patriotic song to them , a bit like Jerusalem for England, Flower of Scotland, Men of Harlech etc.
That piccolo player in the trio is just... phwah. That was amazing.
I served in the 6o th Rifles during the 1950s and we had a Glokenspiel in the band

Great stamina lads, at that pace well done.
A mercia myself, but love the brass of the rifles
Silver man, Silver!!

@@bugler75 I've always rather liked Sambre et Meuse - perhaps because the French hate us playing it!

WTF does plod look like in the front.
tankie88 It's good that they picked their top man.
They are the quickest marchers ever haha! Like they are stuck in x4 speed :p
Why is that funny?
wonderful thanks for sharing
Smart n snappy nice, so like the Bugles n Band, rolling along pity not at x2 time.
Who's the scruffy deadbeat in front?
Memories 😢
Why do they need that mess of police officer in front.????
"protection" and to clear the way 😂
I've given up moaning about them as all it seems to do is get yet an even worse one on duty the next time.
What use would the policeman be,I think I see 2 dozen soldiers behind the band,I think they might have their bayonets fixed
In the words of the Rasman "open yer legs pc plod! They won't fall out they're in a bag"
Nombre de las marchas ???
Why oh why have that lone cop staggering along ahead of the band? He's of little use if anything was to occur.
What's that? La Legion? They sound so!
What was the necessity of the plod in front? scruffy individual!
Idle give 7 Days RP’s 🥸
Copper thinks....... Oh shite, it's LI, better step it out a bit.
It must be ovff putting for the drum major watching the policeman in front of him, maybe I should have said policeperson, you never know these days
Celer et Audax...
The usual scruffy copper out in front.
Cet et audaux BIA
