I love how at 4:29 you can see the Colour contrast of the uniforms, the green and black bouncing of the sunlight then immediately behind them a bright splash of Red from The 1st Battalion Irish Guards
Both the Rifles and the Gurkhas seem totally focused on the process of killing the enemy in their marching style. I read a description prepared by them why they march so much faster than other regiments, and why they have 'the double'. Apparently it is because they can move faster on the battlefield than other forces and it allowed them to outflank the enemy. They are also noted to have marched 250 miles in six days during the Napoleonic Wars.
A question for any Riflemen here. I have only just noticed the Black Tunics among the Rifle Green. I have to confess that despite many many years observing our Rifles regiments I have not noticed them before. Are they only worn by the Buglers or is it to do with the many "new" regiments that now make up the Rifles of today?
Way too late reply but I think it's just the light. I reckon there are a couple of very slightly different cloths in there and it's strange - I only ever notice it in videos, not in real life, so there's some strange optical thing going on.
OK, dumb question from an American. [Go ahead, make the jokes... I'll wait :) ] Just how many regiments are allowed on Public Duties? That is to say, how many regiments guard Buckingham and Windsor? I understood why the RN were the guards a couple of years ago, but I've seen the Gurkhas posted as guards and even the 'Royal' Malay Regiment. Is there some rotation of units, or is it by invitation, or special occasion? Just a question from an old trooper who's stood more than one formal guard mount.
this will tell you what to know, these are the regiments that normally guard her Maj,, but they have help , read the page, we even have Canadian/ Austrailian Malay ( they are part of the commonwealth) regiments during the summer doing guard duty as well and as yes the Rifles, Blues and Royals Gurkha's, Navy and RAF if too may of the Queens Guard regiments are out on deployment en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen%27s_Guard
I'm sorry to say thjat the band and Bugles are not up to the same standard as in the old Light Infantry days. The deportment of the Band in particular is poor. And it looks like they are getting Chelsea Pensioners in to play as well.
As an American veteran and as a reenactor, I've stood more than one formal guard mount and ceremonial and I heartily agree. We all look awful if the band is off or the formation is out of step. And I'm not particularly picky about it, but for God's sakes, it isn't that hard. Just 'follow the leader' to the beat. Even kids can do it.
Absolutely love the light infantry marching bands. Father was in the green jackets and great grandfather in the Royal Enniskillen light infantry.....
Mine too
Those were the days when the discipline was so much better. Wonderful to watch.
Ah, the return - like a gentle stroll for the Light Infantry band!

Greetings from The Queens Own Rifles of Canada IN PACE PARATUS . Rifles to the front!
Imagine marching into battle like that so much pomp and circumstance. No fucks given got to love it!
On the second part of the video I thought why they marching at normal pace? Then I saw the red coats behind them ! lol
Superb.
It would have got the Wooden Tops blood flowing at 140 paces per minute!
Best modern uniform period !
Enjoyed vid, very snappy guys like the way step out smartly, the band and bugles are awesome.
An officer who marches in step as well? Now that's rare
No... It's soldiering
Yes it's a sharpe reference
Couple of serious doubts for the annual fitness test there.
is the policeman magic - he is strolling and yet they dont catch him
He better watch it, he'll get run over!
Never could we picture the Irish Guards marching at 140 .
Even the copper was in step 🤣
wow that was awesome
Windsor Castle...just before morning tea.

Great.
Yes the Band and bugles they were magnificent but today when you look at them and you’ll see very small women in the ranks just doesn’t look right
@@alfamaleUK68 i am sorry but there are not Riflemen

Wth is that cop doing cdnt he walk on the side
It is not the same having an Infantry band playing for the Guards, I prefer LI pace.
Simpolten copper there in case they were speeding.

That disheveled cop leading is utterly killing the vibe, even hear someone in the audience uttering in disgust..

@@misssparkles7520 Thanks for the reply. It explains some of it.
It is surprising how quickly the band can march considering how many pies they have obviously consumed.
Why is that policeman out of step?
The band of the Rifle's look like Sharpe's
Policeman plod.."Oi, are you orible people following me?" and "Look Ma I can walk backwards!"
Defiantly not a Dixon of Dock Green
What a mess. Zero respect.
More like Doxon of Dick Green!
👍👍👍👍👍
Who is the little man at the back ?
The envy of the world.
Policeman in the front should also walk in their pace, or else he would get trampled 🤣
Police officer in danger of being caught up by troops.
WTF rambo coppers protecting proper fighting men from British crowds...

A lot off the police look very scruffy, not very good we are losing respect for them.
