As an American, it's so interesting to see how this type of military demonstration goes on and in the background you have people just going about their day. It's cool that it's so much a part of the culture that it's just normal.

The opening tune is "Fàinne Geal an Lae" (The Dawning of the Day). A great marching tune. In Ireland the Bagpipes are called 'Píobaì Choghaidh' (War Pipes) in Irish. The 'sit-down' pipes with the bellows are complicated indoor instruments called 'Píobaì Uillinn' (Elbow Pipes). They played the 'Minstrel Boy' about half war around. The words are by Thomas Moore (Victorian Era) but the melody is a very ancient Irish marching tune. Moore saved a great number of our ancient tunes by giving them a new life.
I agree, Pipes are like something hidden in your emotion and when you here them from a distance coming over the hill. You feel good! The D day piper made thousands of our guys feel better.

We are but a small Country but because of our long history if independence and freedom we always punch way above our perceived weight. And its men and women like these that deliver it.
YOU said it fella, there not Irish at all!! love how the brits still try to steal everyone elses culture, 800 fecking years and ye just cant let go, its pathetic... ye had no culture till you took it from the Irish, Scots and Welsh...
And what was it before the British stole it?? why should we expect different ye have been stealing and usurping Celtic culture for years, whats funny here is how you classed it as British then said from Ulster in Northern Ireland and then said Ex Royal Irish Ranger!! if its Irish then its not British is it? as Ireland is not in Britain or Great Britain, ye can keep convincing yourselves that it is but it is not and never will be, go look up the act of union or the laws of geography according to British Ordnance survey.. youll be telling us next that China is part of the Congo!! its pathetic pal, your empire ended a long time ago get over it...
Mark Kavanagh well Irish have fought for the brits more than against sure during the 1700s and 1800s one third of the military was Irish I for one am not going to simply forget brave Irishmen who fought even if it was for an oppressive empire
At least the Irish pipers don't spoil their outline with a hairy great sporran! And their music is a 1000 times more of a swagger than the Scots (I'm outa here).
Oh, I never doubted quality of the Pipes & Drums. I was just surprised at the smallness of the band. Seems to be the standard now as oppsed to the older days. I would like to see them do more with the regimental band of the Irish Guards.
All this crap about the irish border in eu , didnt we have good relations before without eu , with ireland?. england does nor see irish as a separate race they are us, and we are them.
enoch powellsghost you are fucking deluded they are us we are them? What kind of statement is that? culturally and our ancestry are different. Must be that Saxon inbred brain of yours not working.
Good to see my home town! My father used to be one of the policemen who did traffic point duty at the foot of the Queen Victoria statue. He often enjoyed watching the band sergeant majors whirling huge marching maces within inches of the heads of stupid tourists who would not move. Memories

British through & through well done to these brave men from Ulster! Yes NORTHERN IRELAND. Ex ROYAL IRISH RANGER.
Stephen Mcauley not all are from the north
Mark Kavanagh well Irish have fought for the brits more than against sure during the 1700s and 1800s one third of the military was Irish I for one am not going to simply forget brave Irishmen who fought even if it was for an oppressive empire
I just love the WPC out for a stroll with a pipe band following in close order!!
Love the sound of bagpipes. What song are they playing?
A variety of tunes, Star of County Down, Green Glens of Antrim, South Down Militia and others that I don't remember.
I just noticed that the Lady Bobby (spelling?) was in step with the guards as well, very cool.
7.30 Rowan Tree
Jeff Landuyt .. She put hands behind her back to stop swinging her arms!
Raglan Road
Even lady cop in the end kept in step. Rushed kids by...and back in step until she stood aside
great
Pissed up tonight. But still love it. Love ya dad.
At least the Irish pipers don't spoil their outline with a hairy great sporran! And their music is a 1000 times more of a swagger than the Scots (I'm outa here).
Insperato62 the sporran is to cover their big manhood
Or their little manhood ;)
Insperato62 p
Hoping it was just an opinion.
Tae fuck you prick
I love the bagpipes and drums. My only wish is that I can see them in real life and not on RUclips. Thanks for sharing
I hope Britain doesn't break up I am full of dread as a Canadian
I could never tire of a good blow on the 'pipes!
Oh, I wish ya lot would stop playing politics. Listen to the music, be proud and stop yer bleeding scrapping.
Ta!
Oh, I never doubted quality of the Pipes & Drums. I was just surprised at the smallness of the band. Seems to be the standard now as oppsed to the older days. I would like to see them do more with the regimental band of the Irish Guards.
god bless British troops and French troops US troops in Afghanistan
i dont know why, but when it zoomed out and showed the old mad standing there...it gave me chills.
whose side would these guys be on if there was another William Wallace?
the Gaelic side of course.
@S Hanlon Only the Orange ones - if they survived long enough.
you guys are great
All this crap about the irish border in eu , didnt we have good relations before without eu , with ireland?.
england does nor see irish as a separate race they are us, and we are them.
enoch powellsghost you are fucking deluded they are us we are them? What kind of statement is that? culturally and our ancestry are different. Must be that Saxon inbred brain of yours not working.
+Celtic Gaelic Irish King lmao Ireland was more isolated than England, so you've got a higher chance of being inbred ;)
Cyvan you think isolation got to do with it? Look at the royal family for fuck sake hahaha inbred as can be.
+Celtic Gaelic Irish King you really think I expect Irish people to be inbred? k. And btw, pretty much every royal family is inbred to some extend.
Cyvan English ancestry is a mess tbh Celts where there first then the Romans then the Saxons. Now it will be the Muslims ruining your gene pool.
Looks great to see kilts 'n' caubeens. :)
Wonder if the police woman realised just how knock kneed she is
Who - PC Plod?
mmmm, now you mention it!
At least she took the trouble to get in step.
Pity she couldn't get rid of the gum she was chewing, chavy bird
Hey any port in a storm.
Good to see my home town! My father used to be one of the policemen who did traffic point duty at the foot of the Queen Victoria statue. He often enjoyed watching the band sergeant majors whirling huge marching maces within inches of the heads of stupid tourists who would not move. Memories
Not Irish: British.
