- A John Deere 6400 tractor and a John Deere 348 Square Baler complete the mechanized portion of Rolling Oaks's first hay cutting of the year. Marcia Johnson guides the baling parade around the pasture. She also had the task of adjusting the baler after the season's first few bales "exploded" after being kicked.

And a short video of the baler kicking while in the turn at the end of the field is here: basicbill.com/p...
A big thank you to the folks at Rolling Oaks Farm for the invitation and access to the operation. - Авто/Мото
I grew up next to a field outside of Carlshamn in Sweden and got to see many agricultural machines working for a whole 16 years. The baling machine was cool, among other things, because it was like a "rolling drum machine." Also what memories and nostalgia it brings. 🚜🔊🥁🎼🎶⏳️❤️😁
Thanks for watching.

Excellent work guys! This is pure gold in it's purest form .9999! The way this work of art came full circle at the end was a plethora of cinematic genius! The ups the downs... Just, an amazing piece! Keep up the excellent work and absolutely can not wait until the next adventure!

Thank you for a walk down memory lane. Spent some time in upstate New York working on a Dairy Farm as a youngster. Catching Hay bales and stacking with a very familiar set up like this. I think people should work on a Farm at least once in their life's . Gives you a complete better understand where your food comes from and what it takes to get it there. Had many cuts from the hay,bee stings and the farmer laughing at a me fighting hay bales behind that kick baler. A great year of employment ,would gladly work on a Dairy Farm again.
Low Budget Scale Modeling. my husband also worked on a dairy farm in upstate NY growing up. He mentioned catching them in midair and tossing them up to be stacked. It was owned by a well known family that makes cheese and still does.
Listening to that kick baler brought tears of joy,...and pain. Farmer Bloodworth thought it was the funniest thing watching a greenhorn fight with hay bales. He was right thinking back. It was funny,it just took twenty something years for me to see the humor.
My wife & I raised our son to work. Although we didn't know of any farms for him to work on. That would have been a great lesson in life for him.
Your husband must be a decent man. I had forgotten about this post. Made me laugh this morning, thanks.

I just noticed that the thrower thing rolls when turning to keep it aligned with the wagon behind. Clever design!
Oh bale kicker, where were you when I was 14 and stacking bales by myself that weighed the same as me?
Relatable
I agree. Thanks.

........and all those summers when I was 12-18 years old helping out baling hay, riding on the wagon and stacking them neatly right out of the baler in the HOT, HOT sun, haha.
Been there done that!
The machines that humans make are so incredible

Lovely. Thanks for taking the time to put this on the 'Tube.
Luv how it shoots them out
Yeah no need to come back later with a stacker

Idk why but watch the bales just get thrown out of the baler makes me so happy
There is something whimsical about how this thing throws bales.
very interesting video i dont get to see this style of baling in this part of the world.
great quality filming and picture quality as well excellent work.
I retired from farming in 1988 due to whiplashing my neck..We still have the same baler and I'm getting quite a laugh at some of the comments here..Guess nobody saw that's a lady doing the driving
Amazing all the interesting ways to bale hay since I did it as a kid. This is so easy. I'm wondering who gets to straighten out the pile in the wagon?
The kid from down the street who's parents want him the heck out of the house.
Hahaha!
Brad Taylor Me & my brother did it old school as well back in the 70's. Stack as you go off of the conveyer belt then it's off to the loft for more stacking. Good times. This video brought back some fond memories
Me and a friend would stand on the trailer and stack as it kicked. But Dad would run faster and some times you would catch a kick to the back or head!!! Loved ever minute of it!! No kid or man ever hit like a 100 lbs 3 string from a kick bailer! Lol ...made us tuff.
Next baler they will invent will be one that throws the bale onto the stack from anywhere in the field. Must admit it was the most amusing 'farming' video I have ever watched - whoever thought of it must have wanted there head examined.. Would have loved to have seen it 'throw' one on a turn and miss altogether.
watch it again and see at 4:40 that the bale thrower leans inward while the wagon is in a turn and straightens up when the turn is completed....it wont miss even in a turn

I RITHIN
As a kid I was the guy in the wagon stacking the bails, trying not to get hit by the next bail.
Same good ol days 😀
Nice vidéo !! 👍👍
My only question is why where they tractor and baler going so slow?
You can almost hear the bale scream "OH SHIT!" as it's being kicked out of the baler. Great assortment of Green Power on your farm Bill.

Not my farm. But thanks for watching.

What happens when it kicks out a bale while turning a corner?

monte casler is correct....in order to run that 348 baler properly, you need to keep the windrow toward the farthest out end of the pick-up head, and drive at a ground speed so that when you count how many times the gooseneck comes up around, it should spit a bale out after every 13th or 14th time. otherwise you're wasting your time and fuel and beating up the baler for no good reason. Gerald is wrong b/c not everybody can get hay rows dry enough in large rows, and not everybody has a second rig that can run ahead of the baler and rake doubles together.
Bellissimo le balle che volano nella giusta direzione e non sbagliano un colpo..
is this a self unloading wagon?
THANKYOU,GREAT VIDEO.
.ce qui concerne les deux regretter que je suis en train de faire des Twitterun rr
Hi nice video and how many acres did you cut and how many bales did you end up with. And how many bales can that wagon hold. I have always been a John Deere fan but what is a better baler John Deere or new Holland.
That wagon can prolly hold 150-200 bales
Nice video, that seems like a cool piece of equipment.
thats an impressive setup right there does the job very well
Most of my bails weigh about 65-75 lbs each. I wonder how many pounds these are?
My farm has a 347 they weight bout 5 to 35 pounds depends I. Moisture and what grass or legume were baling
Trés bon travail
Nice, i remember stacking them when i was 16 I'd hang on the sides of the wagon and try not to get hit of course i would sometimes heck of a way to tkughen a kid up
There has to be a video on here somewhere, with farm kids using one of these to throw them in a pond...lol

Perfect! That saves some time.

That Baler is starving for Hay,bigger rows or another gear or 2
you have to take into consideration the wagon you can't be making fast turns at the end of the windrow with that rig. And you don't know how rough the ground in that field is. typical of young farmers they want to race their equipment across the field. shortens the life of your equipment.
Brapa ini om...
Is there an advantage to tossing the hay and restacking later versus using one of the rigs that stacks the hay for you? Other than the cost of the equipment? Thanks, great video.
Cost. I had an old barn, cattle on the first floor hay overhead in the loft. Two people and an elevator can put up a lot of hay in the barn
We would stack to the roof perhaps 18 20 feet high.
очень хорошая техника , подборщик с прицепом и летающими тюками
I here these are in great demand in France now..
how would you rate the capacity of the JD 348 vs. a NH 575 or its newest equivalent?
goodest
Muito bom
Quá tuyệt vời
very good idea

Seems pretty inefficient. Too slow and then you have to handle the bales to stack them. That has to be time and labor intensive.
Norgale .Norgale it's farming!!! Farming is labor intensive!!!
Its called WORK! The old fashioned farmer way
Need to get up another gear or two should be popping a bale every 10 - 12 seconds not 26 - 30 seconds you should have been done in half the time and half the fuel
MONTE CASLER àq
Maybe she's not in a hurry for a beer like y'all..
Everybody can go at their own speed. Bothing more aggravating in the hayfield than a bossy guy.

@@glenncountry its inefficent last i checked, farming was a Commercial enterprise not a hobby. Time is money and wasting both fuel and time (not to mention additional hours on the equipment and tractor) is very silly. If someone offered free advice that saved me money and made me twice as efficient i wouldn't be dismissive of that individual.
KABOOM! there goes the bale! cant do that with rounds
lol
yea
i always think that square balers froma distance sound like a horse eating its food or grass when they put theyre head o ur shoulders

Thats the way of life happy times easy way simple life
wow this is cool!!😀
Can probably shift up a few gears! Biggest baler JD makes, she’s starving for material
Hello, I am a young man from Morocco. I am looking for work in agriculture and I can work with you in farming and raising animals
XD
Sorry, dude. But I don't see any cotton on his farm, so he might not hire lol.
Cool idea bro
Too slow, you should be running 2-3 times faster ground speed. 36-40 strokes per 3' bale is too many and the baler and tractor certainly have the capacity. Double up the windrows and you'd be just right at the ground speed she's running. Nice looking hay though!
Time Maker Farm ь
Well job
Very good
Round hay bales are being outlawed...
Cow cant get a square meal.
How to control the throwing hay, by driver or automaticaly? Can any one tell
Bravo💖💖
Some here say it was "way too slow...." I say the speed is just right....with this speed everything lasts longer.....you have fewer jams....
Actually the baler wears out faster a lot faster because the plunger is going back and forth 2 or 3x as many times as it should per bale. And a constant steady feed on the baler will give it a lil resistance an the machine which is good less likely to fly apart or have metal hitting metal inside. No reason to go that slow.
Very cool way to load hay. 👍👍👍
I looked this up because my boss told me he used to bail hay. He said he and 3 guys would have to stand in that red cage and catch the hay how fucking crazy
Need to run about one gear higher, you want about 18 or so "hits" or plunger strokes per bale, just wasting fuel running that slow.....
Wouldn't you break the shearbolt if you were going around a corner that fast? Just saying that happened to my dad.
