Hi Michel! I'm sorry if you've already done this and I missed it, but I would love to see a video from you explaining the process of planning a solo trip - the whole process from deciding where to go, what you do/book first, how you research what to do/see, etc.... I want to do a solo trip myself but am overwhelmed with where to start/how to do it. Love you and your channel :)
@@MichelJanse Yes I was just coming here to comment the same thing! I’m so nervous for safety reasons so would love to hear your tips on that as well ☺️
Hi Michel. I'm so happy you got to go to Cape Cod and get doughnuts and lobster! I would put both pictures up somewhere if it makes you happy. Take care!
As a Mainer, thank you for reminding me just how wonderful New England is. It was a long winter and it’s so great to see spring! I’m headed on a solo trip to Boothbay Harbor soon. Thank you for inspiring all of us to enjoy time with ourselves.
As a Vermonter I love seeing you so happy with New England. Cape Cod and the coast of Maine are my favorite vacation spots. Love the ocean. Thankfully I love the cold. If only we could permanently ban from Cape Cod (in the following order,) 1. Boston residents, and everyone from the greater Boston area. 2. Connecticut people, 3. Rhode Island people, 4. New York people. If we could kick them out, then more folks from NH/Maine could visit.
I grew up in Harwich and the bench you sat on at Brax is where my parents memorial stones are. My dad’s boat is still in that harbor. It’s a very special spot for me. Literally made me cry when I saw you sitting there.
I love these solo traveling vlogs so much. I first solo travelled when I was 21 and wanted to go to europe and not wait for anyone else to plan it. It was scary but I loved it and continue to travel alone, it’s as close to true freedom as I’ve gotten. Any plans to travel outside the US?
ok ok hear me out, i think your next solo trip needs to be to charleston. sailboats, beaches, lighthouses, beautiful houses…it just seems very michel 🫢
Fun fact; I honeymooned in 1982 @ Provincetown and we were the only straight couple in town! We were kinda like celebrities; everywhere we went, we got a lot of attention. 😊 we drove from Boston. Magical is the perfect description.
Hi Michel! I just wanted to let you know, you inspired me to go on my first solo trip this year and it was the best experience ever! I hope you keep enjoying these kind of experiences!
I live in Sacramento, California and at 72 I haven't traveled much but your trip to Cape Cod has made me want to visit. I am Gluten Sensitive and that Warm Lobster Roll sounds so yummy. I really enjoy your adventures so much. Thank you so much for sharing.
I know the exact feeling you're describing at 10:30...I've lived at home since I graduated college and the first time I ever felt that was when I took a travel nursing gig on the west coast (I'm from MA). I felt it for the first time when I took a solo trip to Point Reyes and was driving back to my apartment looking at the golden gate bridge and saw San Francisco and the ocean glittering in the sun and I was like this is it...this is the feeling I've been dreaming about! Truly independent and happy with my own company
My husband and I got married during COVID and did a little honeymoon to the Cape. We loved it! I’m also pretty sure that we have a print from the same photographer of your thrifted beach photo. She was super sweet and gave us our print as a wedding gift. Many people gave us “wedding gifts” while we were there. They couldn’t have been nicer!
I LOVE how you described what solo travel feels like for you! I know that exact feeling! I've traveling all over solo and now am finishing grad school and newly married so we are saving instead of traveling. But today I went to my college town an hour from where I live just to hang out. I grabbed my favorite food, went to my favorite coffee shop, read my book on the beautiful campus and that solo travel feeling came rushing back! It's so refreshing to see you chase those joys!
As someone who grew up in MA and now lives in RI, the Cape is beautiful, but never really felt that special since we've gone so often. Thank you for reminding me to appreciate it more! I need to make another trip out there soon :)
@@deniseespin191 in terms of towns, Provincetown (where Michel went) is a really fun/unique place to visit. Your trip is really inspiring to me. I’m a person who gets upset when anything goes out of my plan. So a restaurant I plan to go to end up not opening can easily ruin my whole day. But seeing how you are able to enjoy basically anything that comes along, and how you can adjust your plan without hard feelings, I do want to get better at coping with unpleasant surprises like you are.
Provincetown is one of my favorite places in the world! I am so glad you had a nice time even though it was a bit early in the season. Besides things being closed, it is really nice to be there before the crowds. And I am glad you mentioned feeling safe- I totally agree that I have always felt completely comfortable even alone there. If anyone is planning a trip, please treat yourself to a nice dinner out at The Mews- you won't regret it! PS: I agree with your opinion on hot v cold lobster rolls (from a New Englander)!
I love hearing your silly voices. I feel like inner Michel shined through this vlog. I am so jealous of your donut & sea food adventure, especially as a Celiac, and most especially because I'm 7 months pregnant. 😂I love all things crab, lobster, oysters, clam chowder, etc. so I'm convinced I must now move to Cape Cod.
Please know that I say this with love, but this is the second time that you have traveled somewhere and didn't realize that things were generally closed in the off season and you were also surprised by the fact that Provincetown is a center for LGBTQ folks (yay!), which is a pretty well known fact. This gives me an impression that you don't do as much homework as you should be for these locations where you are traveling solo. I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip, and a bit of serendipity can also be fun (as in not every trip needs to be planned out to the minute), but consider this coming from an older sister type - please, please do better research on the places that you are going. Some of them won't turn out to be as safe and fun as Provincetown.
I actually do this super intentionally! I am so type-a and planned in my real life, that showing up on solo travel with no plan is exciting and freeing for my brain. And that’s why I like to go alone too, bc I have permission to wander and see what I find with no expectations! I find when I overly research, I don’t enjoy it as much. It feels like a to-do list and I get disappointed if things don’t go to my plan. It’s kinda a fun way to just show up and let life take control for a few days which feels SO GOOD🥰
@@MichelJanse Thanks for receiving my comment in the spirit with which it was intended. Ha, Ha - I get ya. (From one type-a to another.) Just lookin out for you. Want you to be safe.

All of New England is breathtaking. Even the winter has its magic surrounded by historical colonials and gas street lights, and old-fashioned snow shoveling! Thank you for showcasing its beauty and inspiration.
I am currently married with 3 very young kids, so I don't know how I could make a solo trip like this happen for myself, but it looks and sounds so magical! ❤

I'm surprised that you didn't point out the "Bears on the chairs"... The giant stuffed teddy bears that are set up in Adirondack chairs in a sand pit, just up the road from your hotel... Heading towards the beaches...
Yay, I've been so excited for this video!!! So beautiful and fun to follow along with you! Love what you said at the beginning about the serenity and how alive you feel exploring a new place on your own. Looking forward to more solo Michel trips this year!
Hi Michel good morning happy Thursday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
I love living on Cape Cod. Blessed everyday. There's a lot of people struggling here to live who need to be recognized, it's not just a beautiful area with big mansions. Glad you got to enjoy our little piece of paradise.
Michel, so glad I found this video. Cape Cod is a beautify place and you've only scratched the surface. For instance, in the village of Woods Hole, Upper Cape, the opposite end of the Cape from Provincetown (P-town), is Nobska Lighthouse, a lighthouse you can drive up to, get out, and walk around it. There's also all the other villages around the Cape with a lot of great shops. Oh, and the drive along Rte 6A is wonderful. Hope you get a chance to get back.
Don't know if you know what sea glass is, but u can usually find it all over the Cape. It is broken bottles that have been dumped in the sea and the tides and wave and sand make the glass pieces, smooth as silk and they are mixed in with the rocks along the seashore. They make beautiful decorations when stacked in a glass vase. Good luck in your travels. I love the site and your perspective.
Great to know details regarding season shop opening, and Tuesday thru Thursday business hours. I don’t drive. Hope I can find a shuttle or some sort of ground transportation.
From Cape Cod - If you go to Hardings beach in Chatham you will find a great little walk to a lighthouse and secret beach - 30 there and 30 mins back hope this gives you a good idea
Love you’re travel vlogs, especially as a fellow coeliac! I love how you prove it is possible to travel and eat well whilst being strictly gluten free. *Side note* Where is your backpack from that attaches to your roller suitcase? It looks so much easier than how I do it!!
It's so funny because I live in Austin too and I am from Massachusetts near the Cape! I miss the food soo much and seeing everything in your video makes me homesick but so glad you were able to visit xo
Been to the cape many times in a old school buss backin the 70s we would spend the days at Race Point beach then go to Provincetown for people watching one of my best memories ❤watching you enjoy the experience too😍
That is beautiful! The hotel was really nice but when you said that price, my eyes went😮 so I will continue to live vicariously through you because there’s no way I could ever afford 239.00 a night to stay anywhere! It’s OK if the internet calls me a povo because I am 😂
You showed the South Manitou Island Lighthouse frame and I got gitty lol. I've been to that lighthouse so many times while hiking to my campsites on the island.
Okay Susan! I just spent 30 minutes Internet sleuthing it. My wife and I are here for the weekend and are interested in gluten free options, and was inspired. But also surprised that the best meal was intentionally not named. I can only speculate why, so we may never know why. Mac’s Fish House is my very strong guess due to the green awning, the market sign and them also serving sushi. We are going to try and go!
Three things: first, does Max get mad when you are leaving? I had two cats who have both since passed but when I got out suitcases they knew that meant I was leaving & they would get so mad & stand offish once they saw the suitcases. Second, I saw quite a few R rated things on that alley you were in so thought it was Cape Cod’s version of the Red Light District. Third, I LOVE your travel vlogs. It gives those of us that are more tied down a chance to see the sights through your eyes. Thank you for that!!
Oh my goodness, Michel- I am so proud of you and admire you so much for going on a solo trip!! It’s because of you that I can now go places and do things on my own without feeling awkward or embarrassed. I am so grateful for your continued inspiration!!! Can’t wait to see what upcoming trips are in store. (Also, those donuts look extra yummy!!) 😃
It's a joy seeing you so happy On your solo trip . FYI I live on the East Coast and have been to a number of different beaches in different States, NJ, MD, and DE. It's typical In tourist beach towns for midweek to be closed off season. That's why the hotel rates are cheaper. A lot of people go To these places on the weekends during the off season when everything is open, but then they pay more for lodging or have their own beach house.

There's also all the other villages around the Cape with a lot of great shops. Oh, and the drive along Rte 6A is wonderful. Hope you get a chance to get back.
What a beautiful trip. I know that places being closed was a bummer but I think it made it a very relaxing and peaceful trip.
Thank you for sharing your solo adventure... inspiring.😁
Great to know details regarding season shop opening, and Tuesday thru Thursday business hours. I don’t drive. Hope I can find a shuttle or some sort of ground transportation.
Hi from South Africa! So nice to “visit “ your US towns with you
From Cape Cod - If you go to Hardings beach in Chatham you will find a great little walk to a lighthouse and secret beach - 30 there and 30 mins back hope this gives you a good idea
Hi, Michel and Happy Wednesday (also known as Hump Day)!😊😊😊😊😊😎☀💙💙💙💙💙💙🌷💖💖💖💖💖💖🎇👍
I need the song at 16:52 please 😅
Same, i wish she could include all the songs that she used in her description 🥹 been loving all of her songs vibe.
You should take a trip to Sarasota Florida you would love seeing that place and enjoy it alot Michel . hopefully you do go there one day
Love you’re travel vlogs, especially as a fellow coeliac!
Awee 🥹🥹 I hope it gave you a little taste of home friend!! 🤍🤍
You are glowing in this video 😊 I could feel your happiness.
Why are so many places closed in America during the week? I’m in Australia and everything’s open Mon-Fri, at least 9am to 5pm.
Love to see New England through a visitor's eyes. And I live 10 minutes by foot to Kane's and I've never been. You're really selling it!!
Can you also explain how you budget or how much you budget for this? And safety tips. I would love to take a solo trip as welll.
Got engaged at the Cape and it holds a special place in my heart, loved seeing it in this video 💕
i love these solo travel videos from you 💕💕 my favourite type of content
🤍🤍
I agree, I live in New England and I love it. Also, if you want to start another channel, you're an excellent travel blogger.
what restaurant was "the best meal"?
We are going to try and go!
..hi michel this are the vlog I always waiting for a travel vlog but keep safe always and don't forget your picture finds😊😊😊
I am from NH!!! I go to the cape and Maine every year!!! I love your channel and all your growth and honesty!!! Thank you so so much💜💜💜
Awe, thank you friend!! 🥰🤍

Catched the editor for using your cheffs kiss twice! ;-) looks wonderfull! Enjoy the memories!
Hahaha Kanes is so close to me, this is very funny to watch😂glad we can offer good donuts on Route 1!
