@@xXxSkyViperxXx I wouldn't say there are big meal portions in North Korea, because mass starvation is common and most average folk are malnourished. Never mind all the food types they've imported and copied from American influence alone. South Korea isn't some Podunk back water of a third world country, they're pretty a sophisticated industrialized nation and they eat pretty well. Unlike their kin to the north.
you also seem to forget that the military is WAY WAY more active than citizens, which means they burn off way more calories and quickly too, which means they NEED substance, and larger portions... Dawyne 'the rock' Johnson eats 6000 calories a day... why? Because he works out so much that he needs extra calories... It’s not considered ideal to eat them for more than 24 hours. They ARE calorie dense, and designed to make you not poo! If possible they ship in real food even if it’s just dropped off. The thing that a;ways got to me was the quality of the produce they sent them. My husband would bring home everyone’s fruit they didn’t eat (when on exercises) and it was like something you’d get from Harry and David’s.
i have to laugh when i hear harry and davids because i worked for the plant in medford oregon in the 70s. at the time they were only mail order and not that big, and when i see one of the stores in another state i just shake my head.
Had to laugh at this, in Marines MCT training, all you eat for 29 days is MRE's. My son just finished, said he was to the point he didn't even heat them, and his favorite was macaroni and cheese, because it came with Skittles.
@@KJ-kw7gh a moment of silence for you son’s bowels.
I’ve heard that first bowel movement after eating several MRE’s is legendary.
@@Heiryuu MREs were the cause of my first experience in my life with constipation. I felt like I lost ten pounds once I got things moving again. 😅
No wonder no one's pooing if they're not eating the fruit haha
North Korean picks up US MRE
“Isn’t this too small?”
Me: confused screaming
Those aftermarket MRE's are small. The real US Military MRE's are more substantial.
Those MRE Star's are poor excuses for a real MRE.
Korean meal portions are usually big tho in both north and south korea, mainly cuz the food isnt high calorie, so they have loads of big bowls and tons of smaller plates and bowls laid out on a table, sometimes just to make it seem like they have loads of food even tho its not really as much
@@xXxSkyViperxXx I wouldn't say there are big meal portions in North Korea, because mass starvation is common and most average folk are malnourished. Only the lucky elite living in Pyongyang ever get decent sized meals. Also South Korea has plenty of calorie dense foods, especially since their main side dish is rice and the carb load of that is pretty substantial.
People don't realize this... it's not the food itself or the portions but it's the intake vs outtake of calories... AND your metabolism.

There is probably more calories in each MRE then a NK soldier gets in a week.
and each soldier gets 3 MREs a day.
@Shinidoshi Well this is Kim we are talking about, he doesn't care about his people or his soldiers for that matter.
@Shinidoshi armies march on their stomachs. You know a country is doomed when it can't even afford to feed it's soldiers.
Sad but true
@@StarboyXL9 That would be true if North korea would actually aim to march into war. Which is clearly not the case. They just want to sustain themselves and there's no better guarantee than nukes and army which is good enough on papers to scare others from intervention.
That is not an authentic military MRE! That is an aftermarket brand the military does not use that brand. Only components.
Yeah I was a bit confused watching it. I recognized a lot of the components but didn’t see as much as I expected.
I came to say the same
Yea... It seemed too empty
Yea! Where was the Tabasco sauce! Also, those flavors are not even our ;
They probably can't get real MRES.
I love this channel, it makes me smile to see them enjoy American stuff that a lot of Americans take for granted nowadays, and hearing about them describing their time in their military makes me smile but also makes me sad...thank you for creating your channel Dimple, this is very wholesome and I’m enjoying it greatly

I dropped my phone; just before the audio turned off in the vid & I started freaking out thinking I broke my phone 💀
Those aren't even actual US military MRE's, they're civilian versions. They lack some of the ingredients of the military version and are more 'generic'.
Somebody get these boys a British or French 24 hour ration, I'd love to see how they react to all the stuff that comes in one of those.
Specifically the ostrich ration :)
Same company, same menu, but packaged separately for public sale. Biggest difference is the packaging and some of the accessories, such as the caffeine infused gum I believe.
Main US MREs are hit-or-miss. But the 24hr First Strike rations are dope. But if you can get some US Arctic rations- those are amazing.
UK and German Army MRE have way more than USMC infantry MRE. We would trade or barter for the Tabasco sauce in Afghanistan
Italian mre has alcohol in it
Would love to see these guys experience a traditional 4th of July cookout, BBQ, beers, apple pie, the whole 9yards!
These guys are awesome. I'm glad they are safe and in a better place. Peace and love to the Korean Peninsula ✌🏼
It would be great to see them try American soul food. Fried chicken, mac and cheese, collard greens, corn bread, and candied yams.
Ugh! You just made me hungry!!! :)
Don't forget the fried catfish!

The dudes: “cheers”
Subtitles: “I am from NK and I am a RUclipsr”
I noticed that too😂😂

*Laughs in 9000 calories*
**laughs in eating until full or satiated**
You still alive?
9000 calories?? too much. soldier in training needs around 4000 calories, combat effective, 6000 calories. anything above that is litterally impossible to burn away in a day. if american soldiers eats 9000 calories daily, they WILL get fat in a relatively short while.
@@frederikanby2634 it's a joke

P.S in the "middle" of combat something called a first strike ration is eaten.
I am a US Army vet and was deployed on a rotation to Korea. I had the chance to work with Korean Combat Engineers for a humanitarian mission. I exchanged MREs with a Korean lieutenant and showed each other how to prepare the MREs. The Korean MREs were AMAZING and the Korean lieutenant absolutely hated ours 😂
And thus marks the first time someone from another country said "I guess Americans don't eat much."

I'm an Old-timer. Still ate C-Rats when I joined. I remember when they first started the transitions to the MREs.
There was a Beef patty, a Chicken patty and if you were truly unlucky Spaghetti! That they still made to somehow look like a patty!
This was also before they came out with the heat-packs so every meal was cold unless you were in a position where you could get hot water.
The C-Rats you punched a hole or 2 in the main meal with your trusty P-38, stuck it back in the box and set it on fire. Heated to perfection!
And don't get me started on the fights that would break out over a Pound cake and Fruit cocktail! I saw many a guy get cut over the syrup alone!
