Well, I stopped by the local Lincoln dealer today to check out the Nautilus and they had one on the showroom floor. It looked great at first, but unfortunately, it just seems small and cramped to me. With the driver's seat adjusted for me, the reach to the window controls in front of the armrest is so far that I had to lean forward to reach them. The seat cushions are very short and not wide enough, almost like they are made for kids. The interior seems pretty bare bones in the Reserve trim level that I saw. There is no direct access switch for the heated steering wheel. For a two row CUV, the cargo area seems very small to me, and the sloped roof line at the back reduces usable space. I guess if you are never going to carry much of anything, that's okay. Now, I then looked at an Aviator in the Black Label trim, and that is more like it!
Reliability and value/ devaluation is why Lexus is above competition. Lincoln is behind quite a bit. It’s trying to compensate with design/utility. It’s a start…
I have to say that's a very good car review, much more objective and informative, and not too technical where you don't actually know what he's saying,
@@red5standingby419 Toyota doesn't have to bc their cars are tremendously better than any other car out there. More longevity by far and decent technology.
The most interesting comparison to me is against the Corsair. Very similar interior room length wise, and I believe it has similar performance too. Obviously smaller but in many ways it kind of makes the 2.0T Nautilus redundant.
I've been a loyal RX owner since 2004. My 2021 RX with the luxury package carried a sticker price of $62,465, appreciably lower than the featured Nautilus Black Label. Although it does not have massaging seats, it does have upgraded leather, power driver and passenger seats with the same features, and a panoramic roof and 360-degree cameras. And there is much more real wood trim in the RX. I prefer the sound of the naturally-aspirated V6 engine. And combined legroom and rear seat headroom are within fractions of an inch of the Nautilus--really insignificant differences. The Lexus dealership experience is incomparable, with courtesy car washes as often as desired. And we must not minimize the value of the reliability of a Lexus. The last Lincoln that I owned spent 20 days at the dealership for repairs during its first nine months of ownership, at which point I dumped it. There is no way that I would switch to a Lincoln, much less a Cadillac.
Ikr people be always saying these things about lexus. But all the cars with 400+ hp be the ones that don't even last 5 years without having to get something new everytime. I don't understand why they say lexus is not better knowing they are, might not be in hp but in reliability, build quality, hybrid technology, leather in higher trim levels, and some of the best styles out there. Why do you think the rx and es are there best selling car and suv?
11:34 - But can you fit a half gallon of milk in there, Alex?? (So disappointed) 🤣 Seriously though, great review as always. I really like what Lincoln (Ford) has done with this vehicle. While I don't trust CR anymore in there "Predicted Reliability", this would give me pause if I was shopping in this segment. Thank goodness, I'm not shopping for CUV or a SUV!!
After I test drove the Lincoln Aviator, I decided to keep my 2018 Continental. It is such a better vehicle and more comfortable and with the 400hp twin turbo nothing even compares. I don't need an SUV since I have no kids at home anymore so the sedan is the way to go for me. I was really disappointed with the Aviator.
@@rodgerm5311 Agreed. I don't have kids either. So I have a 2017 Buick Lacrosse and love it. Have thought about getting a SUV because I live in a more rural setting, but don't see the need just yet.

I noticed that in the over a year that the refreshed Nautilus came out, people are talking less and less about this vehicle. Is it the predicted reliability again or do you think it's something else?
I would have advised Lincoln to have made the 2.3 standard and the 3.5 as a option. The 2.0 is definitely not a motor that belongs in this category especially as it's the standard powerplant in the Corsair. Tbe Aviator would havs the 2.7 as standard with the 3.0 as the option. The Navigators would have the choice of the 5.0 and the 3.5. But I digress I'm sure tbey know what they're doing ✌🏽♥️
People are complaining that the new Genesis GV70 top trim with a 3.5 twin turbo is to expensive at 64k. Compared to this at 64k the Genesis is in a different league. No contest. I can't see anybody under 65 years old buying this..
Had an MKX and loved it. Now own an Aviator. Love it even more. The Lexus looks like something from a Transformers movie on the outside and is just plain weird on the inside, at least to my eye. The Lincoln infotainment is just OK. The UConnect in my Grand Cherokee was better.
Alex just loves over complex technology haha and just can’t resist cradling the leather dashboard or the real wood trim 😆 I guarantee He would swoon if there was some vehicle with a 100 way driver seat.
It's 5500 for the Nautilus. Depending on the Ford model/trim, it redlines from 4750 to 5750 rpm. The 2.7L V6 was introduced in 2015 for the F-150 and Edge Sport, 2016 in Lincoln models, and 2017 for the Fusion Sport. I had the 2016 Edge Sport, and that engine with AWD felt great, with no lag, and often peppier than my Mustang GT. I don't know why Ford doesn't used that in the Ecoboost Mustang.
last generation door panels with new dash - they should have updated the door panels too. Model will be replaced in two years plus so I guess dollars didn't warrant the changes.

Have taken most for test drives yet I still can’t match the Lincoln. I might have to buy the 2021 Naultalis, but I resist cause I’ll have 2 of almost the same car in the driveway which is weird…
Lexus RX has good reliability and build quality. Lincoln build quality is good but not great. I looked at both. The more functions in the screen, the worse IMHO. Did not even glance at Cadillac. Not for me at all. Pro tip: don’t shop Porsche or you will make an order for one!
Why is the Black Label $15k more than the Reserve? It only adds a nicer leather, 360 camera, phone as key, and LED fog lights according to Alex’s graphic
For the reasons Alex mentioned about the 50k service package, the car washes, the yearly detail, the “don’t come to us, we’ll come to you” red carpet treatment. You’re paying for those services up front (on top of the fancier leather, etc).
@@TheBradfordG isn’t that what Lexus dealers give you with every new car? I guess the Lincoln dealers are Ford dealers primarily, so they have to distinguish themselves in some way.
Well this is better than the RX in most ways. More luxurious faster rides better better quality interior, better leather etc. sure the RX is reliable no arguing that, but so is a Toyota Highlander platinum…

Lincoln really does alot of thigns right these days- wished they would come to the european market- but badge snobbery is high here in europe...which says alot, since the new Lincoln realeses are top notch and the brand itself certainly nothing to give a sniff at.
I can't believe Lincoln's dropping the Nautilus in 2023. It is THE #1 most beautiful SUV design by any manufacturer, and blows away all those in its market segment both interior and exterior design. Look at the BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, Genesis, Acura, Cadillac in the same price range...UGLY! Japanese-style, over-the-top ugly designs. Mercedes just look old and tired. And of all the Lincoln SUVs, the Nautilus has the finest, most timeless styling.
It’s their best selling model. And second is the Corsair and that’s probably in the chopping block since their CEO doesn’t believe 2 row ICE SUV’s aren’t viable.
Have seen the Nautilus on the road and I appreciate the updates you mentioned. It is a very attractive SUV but if I had to fork out my hard earned money I'd most definitely still go with the Lexus. I wouldn't be missing much in luxury with the RX, its more reliable, and at the end of the day when I go to sell i'd be getting much more for it than I would the Lincoln.
This is the only SUV I wanna buy this Alex.
Reliability and value/ devaluation is why Lexus is above competition. Lincoln is behind quite a bit. It’s trying to compensate with design/utility. It’s a start…
I agree, I love my Lexus RX.
Great wheels, and everything else. I have an Edge, but this is the ultimate daily driver for me. I would never let people eat in it. Never.
Front seat heaven!
I have to say that's a very good car review, much more objective and informative, and not too technical where you don't actually know what he's saying,

Lincoln probably didn't pay off the KBB reviewers like Toyota does.

Great video! I’d take the Nautilus
The most interesting comparison to me is against the Corsair. Very similar interior room length wise, and I believe it has similar performance too. Obviously smaller but in many ways it kind of makes the 2.0T Nautilus redundant.
True if you will be driving alone or one more person. The back seat and cargo area is significantly better in the nautilus
Lincoln is killing it!
Yes we liked it. So we bought the actual one you used in this video.❤😊
I love our Nautilus
I would buy a Genesis GV70
Same here!
The GV70 is in a class below the Lincoln. This is a midsize 2 row and the Genesis is a compact 2 row
*GV80

@@joecool9739 agree agree 💯
Regarding your question ‘what would you pick?’…. The nautilus as I love long comfy roadtrips……. just hope I don’t break down…
I really like the new lincoln designs. Although for me, I'd be looking Aviator, not this.
(So disappointed) 🤣
Seriously though, great review as always.
IMHO, It has to be as reliable as a lexus to be the ultimate RX
What's the best plug-in hybrid in this little subgroup? Any word on Lincoln offering a PHEV version of the Nautilus? I'd be sold.
I don't think this is better than the RX if you think that
Why don't American cars offer a moving map display on the LCD instrument cluster? Does Audi have a patent on this? Who else besides Audi offers a moving map display? Thanks in advance. On the other hand, a nice soft "floaty-boaty" ride is exactly what I want. Great job!
is the Apple CarPlay wireless?
Alex just loves over complex technology haha and just can’t resist cradling the leather dashboard or the real wood trim 😆
I guarantee He would swoon if there was some vehicle with a 100 way driver seat.
Alex, what’s the rolling luggage you use?
First time I've seen a Twin-Turbo V6 engine with a displacement that small. What is its red line?
The 2.7 has been used in the fusion sport
If I am correct that same engine is used on the F150 ecoboost
It's 5500 for the Nautilus. Depending on the Ford model/trim, it redlines from 4750 to 5750 rpm. The 2.7L V6 was introduced in 2015 for the F-150 and Edge Sport, 2016 in Lincoln models, and 2017 for the Fusion Sport. I had the 2016 Edge Sport, and that engine with AWD felt great, with no lag, and often peppier than my Mustang GT. I don't know why Ford doesn't used that in the Ecoboost Mustang.
Why do these get such terrible fuel economy considering the small engines with so many gear ratios?
08:50 this looks so sad for a luxury interior. Lincoln used to know how to couple doors to front panel.
last generation door panels with new dash - they should have updated the door panels too. Model will be replaced in two years plus so I guess dollars didn't warrant the changes.
I wonder how it compares to the Genesis GV70/GV80 or Acura MDX?
Bought my wife the Lincoln 2017 MKX now I just retired after having different company vehicles for 23 years. I’ve been looking at all SUV’s for the last 9 months off and on. Have taken most for test drives yet I still can’t match the Lincoln. I might have to buy the 2021 Naultalis, but I resist cause I’ll have 2 of almost the same car in the driveway which is weird…
You’re right Lincoln have very nice cars. But I think Lexus does a good shit of a job!
Alex….why wasn’t the GV80 listed/considered? I would think it’s hitting the same strides as the Nautilus.
I think is GV70. The Aviator competes with GV80.
The Lincoln is cheaper more luxurious way faster more tech more space. You can’t fight numbers
A few seats have gotten 10/10 rating. Time to bump up to 15 🤣
I'd take a Gussy upt MDX SH-AWD.
Better than the Lexus? Boy howdy.. that's a tall order!!
Well this is better than the RX in most ways. More luxurious faster rides better better quality interior, better leather etc. sure the RX is reliable no arguing that, but so is a Toyota Highlander platinum…
When are you reviewing the Genesis GV70? The GV80 is the segment leader in my mind. Not this Edge
Completely different platform. But continue on...
The only thing I hate about this Lincoln Nautilus is the fake engine noise inside the cab.
If you pay that much for a vehicle you want a piece of mind that it will serve you at least 5 years. I simply pick RX or MDX over this.
masta839 - You are seriously misinformed if you think a Lincoln, or any car now days isn't going to last 5 years. This isn't the 1970s.
My wife bought a 2012 Lincoln MKX new and it still looks and operates as if it was new. It has 70,000 miles and no problems other than usual wear and tear such as brakes and tires. So much BS and lies from social media users where unfortunately most people seem to get their information now days.
what makes you think that this won't serve you 5 years?
@@jdm1039 I don’t look into this. I listen to what mechanics have to say. Fords quality has been always in decline.

Can someone talk about their engine reliability as well please???
It doesn’t matter. It’s cheaper than the RX do the cost difference will pay for repairs and still be better than the RX. Alex would say the same thing
RX has reliability.
What about the Volvo XC60 T6!
Need to do the Genesis GV70 soon... I've had mine for 2 months. Come on Alex..
well, why don't you post your own review? you're an actual owner, and i would love to hear your thoughts on the gv70. the experience owning a vehicle is exponentially greater than a reviewer's 1-2 week possession of it.
@@twystedhumour I don't have time to do a review but I can tell you after 2 months an 1700 miles the GV70 3.5 TT is one of the best most luxurious vehicle I have had and at 60 years old I've had many of the best. The American car companies have never caught up to the Japanese, Germans, and now Korean's. It's hard for me to admit that as I am from Detroit but it's the truth. This is a Ford Edge that is gussied up and is not worth 70k. Ever.
I know this is a top of the range trim, but do Lincoln customers actually want all of that gadgetry? I'm 54, and would prefer some clear analog gauges, and simple chunky knobs for climate controls. Stuffing vehicles full of techno wizardry, tiny buttons and touch screens is a major turn-off for me.
So you're the decider on what 50-year-olds want?
@@mrsj1417 He didn't say that. He said " for me".
LOL His legs are the same size. I think that is fairly normal. HAHA
Is this not a upmarket Ford Edge?
The RX is an upmarket Toyota Camry suv
The Cadillac XT5 is an upmarket Chevy Equinox, INFINITI QX50 is an upmarket Nissan Altima crossover ‼️

Until you see the Genesis SUVs up close, sit in them and drive them, then you quickly forget about Lincolns. Nice wheels though!
Looks like Nautilus
How is anyone supposed to see those turn singles in front? That’s minuscule.
I would be Lost without My Lincoln
Lincoln really does alot of thigns right these days- wished they would come to the european market- but badge snobbery is high here in europe...which says alot, since the new Lincoln realeses are top notch and the brand itself certainly nothing to give a sniff at.
The Lexus will be on the road for years to come while this will be waiting for the crusher at your local salvage yard.
Just what everyone wants to drive: A 30 year old Lexus.
both cars will last long enough for the first owner. Most people lease luxury cars anyway
I really wish Ford would release the Nautilus/Edge on the new Aviator/Explorer platform. That would be amazing.
That wouldn't make since you can't too many vehicles on the same platform they will cancel each other out different classes!
Lexus for me..
Plus, with the RXh's 30 MPG i'd be saving on fuel cost.
I have the Naultalis my buddy drive the Lexus 350, he admits mine a nicer, quicker, quieter, smoother ride..
@@mcmuskie2563 The real proof would be if he runs out to get one when it comes time to actually buy.lol Plus, don't you just love how people love to compare a brand new vehicle with one that's nearing its redesign life? We are talking about the Nautilus with its new 2.7 turbo charged engine aren't we? Still, the Lexus has a more current 'younger' look even after all these years.
But lets wait and see how that Nautilus stands up in 6 years.
Lease the Nautilus. Buy the RX. What is a Cadillac? :) Congrats to the Lincoln designers and engineers for making the ho-hum Edge appealing. Don't listen to me: I'm more of a Corolla or Civic guy :)
I was going to buy a Nautilus, but ended up buying an Aviator instead. The small price difference seemed of offer quite a bit more on the Aviator. Only low point is the Aviator still has Sync 3.
