If you're not eating it Mark I will have some stuff out of that junk cupboard mate 🤣👍 Some superb sessions throughout the week Mark. Huge kudos bud. 😎🤘
Hey Mark, such a great idea, and yeah maybe it’ll get you more views and subs too!! Me, I use public transport a LOT to avoid always running the same routes… makes running a regular adventure !! BRAVO on your commitment and consistency Mark!!
Thanks, Bev 😀 I have a list of challenges I want to do in future. A couple of them involve getting the bus and/or train to the far end of a route and then running back. Can't wait to tackle those, most likely one the marathon is done and dusted.
Nice garage gym setup there Mark and good to see what you do for some of your strength work, always find it interesting to see what people do 🤓 Great job on your training week 👍
Cheers, Ben 👍 I've always enjoyed the barbell strength training so I've had some kind of gym setup at home for years. I love it. Now we have the slightly larger garage it is much less cramped and I'm really enjoying it in there.
Hehe, your journey with your coach, ChatGPT is really cool! Seeing how you’re balancing speed work, easy runs, and gym sessions while tackling those ambitious race goals is just great! Love how you’re adapting and pushing through the ups and downs. Keep rocking those runs and the unique training challenges, Mark!
Thanks a lot mate 👍 I'm really in a good flow at the moment, and enjoying the experiment with AI to help me with my plans. It saves my little brain from having to do all the thinking! 😁👍
After my first ever marathon I was given a pair of Alphaflys as a gift… I’ve had soooo much fun with those shoes, they feel absolutely awesome !!! And getting them out for a marathon has quite a psychological benefit , not only it adds to that determined feeling of "now I mean business " but also to the sheer joy of running !!
That's a great gift! The only race day shoes I have are the Takumi Sen 8, but I think the consensus with those is that they are better for shorter distances. I'll figure something out 🙂👍
Thanks mate. It's been going well so far. I think the regular speed sessions, with a bit of variety in them to keep it interesting, has been a useful change for me. Plus listening to the best running podcast of course!
5:39 is the pace to be at by the looks of it, and will give you a sub 4 hour marathon too 😁👍 Great consistency mate! Like the idea of the AI training plan. Really looks like you are progressing in the gym lifts and moves too 👍
Hello mate 👋 Yes, I never thought about it being sub 4 pace. That would be great. My coach thinks 3:45 would be challenging but achievable.... we'll have to see! I do always assume it's you on this account lol. I went for a 2 hour walk in the vivo barefoot shoes today. Always reminds me of you when I go out in them 😁👍
Congrats on shifting "some of the wobble" 😂 I really need to focus on that, it's the hills. I feel like I'm dragging a fridge behind me. Good effort for the week, looks like ai might be a strong contender for future training 💪🏃♂️💨🏆
😁 cheers mate. I'm dragging a slightly smaller fridge now, maybe a microwave! AI might not be perfect but it seems to know a bit more than me when it comes to training plans 😄 I'm enjoying mucking about with it too. Cheers! 👍
Mark, I think AI can coach you to PB's if the benchmark is online training plans. That's most likely what is used to "train" Chat GPT (large language models). Where the real value comes from is for you to modify the ChatGPT plan knowing your goals and what works best for you. Thanks for sharing the strength training sessions, it's a reminder for me to get in the garage and lift!
For sure mate. If that chat bot gives me a result I don't like, I give it a fresh prompt and tell it to tweak things. It's a lot more flexible than a plan from online or in a book, as I can feed in criteria I wish to meet and it will update the whole plan. I'm having fun using it at the moment 👍 Get in that gym 😁💪
Nice one Mark, loving these colourful subtitles by the way 👌 Good solid week, great to see the strength work incorporated into the plan 💪 Looks like the watch is showing the average pace ⏱ Out of interest, what's your height?
Thanks mate 👍 I wasn't sure about the subtitles. I tend to find that my eye is always drawn to them so I never focus on the video itself. I might use them a bit more sparingly in future videos but they are good. Average pace does seem to make sense. I've done a couple of runs since and that rings true with what I'm seeing. I'm 5'9.5" so about 5'10 in heels 😁
Like the style of the weekly training vlog! I'm totally with you in the shoes. I think unless you are running in the low three hour range, it's not really worth it. Just make sure they're comfortable! Excellent man cave setup. Is the bedside table in there for when you get into trouble?
Thanks mate 😁 I managed to edit out half the footage, to make it watchable! There's no danger of me hitting the low 3 hour range, so I'll be looking for comfort before the November race. Very insightful with the bedside table 😂 If I'm in the bad books I can always sleep on the weight bench, with a dumbell for a pillow...
Great insight into your weekly training regime Mark, funnily enough I also have a pair of Puma Velocity Nitro 2s although I’ve sidelined them and used my Mizunos whilst I have been undergoing the class 4 laser treatment. Good luck with your 10K, was that Mansfield?
Thanks, Andy 👍 I'm enjoying my first pair of PUMA running shoes. I got them cheap from ebay. It is indeed Mansfield 10k I'm doing next Sunday. Can't wait 🙂
@@markg99 I bought mine in January this year, directly from Puma, about £55 which was a mega deal, Ben Parkes rated them highly as a daily trainer/race shoe✅. Think you said 46 was your target, good luck, mine’s 49:49 (just scraped the 50😂).
Interesting that an AI program works so well for running. I’ve played around with an AI model for triathlon but with 3 sports it’s struggled to put it all together
Yes, it's not without its flaws, and I do have to keep prompting it to correct things, but I'm having fun trying it out. It sometimes forgets rules we agreed upon earlier in the chat so I try to change one thing and it changes several things. A but tiresome but we get there in the end!
Haha! Yes, you don't see many... or any other men with handkerchiefs these days. I think I might be special! My dad always used to carry them. I used to wear glasses and had a hanky for cleaning the lenses. I've since had laser eye surgery but keep carrying them for nose wiping, mine or the kids, dealing with gel stickiness, small spillages etc. I feel weird leaving the house without one 😅 Good point about the weight loss. I'm just about at 7 days without junk now 👍
I think I just got lucky with the times I went running to be fair mate. We've have plenty of rain l lately. I meant to include a video clip I took from my conservatory the other day when it was pounding down. The noise was something else 🙉🌧
They really are hard to resist! I find that the cravings ease off a lot if I can manage a few days without them. I always fall off the wagon eventually though 😬

You might have to fight my wife and daughters for it mate, but if you want to chance your arm... 😂😂
Cheers, Ben 👍 much appreciated!

Savage week, Sparky. That's a great idea and I'm sure it'll yield result if you stick to the plan. AI is coming for all of our jobs.

Like the garage gym. Good to see your week 😊
Thanks, Angela 🙂 I do like my little gym. It's so much easier than traveling somewhere to work out.

@@markg99 I've been there!
Great looking indoor gym!
Thanks mate 💪 It's taken years to gather all the gear, and to finally move into a home with a large enough garage for it not to be too cramped.

My Dad used to have handkerchiefs. He was born in 1916😂
You'll gain far more time on the marathon with your 4lb weight loss than a £200 super shoe.

@markg99 Don't Leave Home Without A Handkerchief.
Sounds like a wartime slogan.
Every once in a while my Garmin glitches like that! So frustrating! But it happens so rarely
Ah, right, at least it's not just me getting the issue. Thanks for that. I should have tried pausing and restarting it out something.
I’d love to know where you’re getting all the good weather??? It’s done nothing but pour it down here for the past 3 or 4 weeks 😭😭😭
