    You’ve certainly come a long way! You stuck to your plan and achieved beyond what you probably thought was possible. Get yourself down to Queen's Park and give that 5k a bash! Different to ultras but always good to try different types of running. 🙂

      Thanks mate. I didn't end up going to the July 5k in the end. It's still on my list though, and I tend to tick everything off my lists eventually :)

    It's been a wild ride Mark and I am very glad to have been following along with it. It's been incredible to watch you grow and progress not only as a runner but as a RUclips personality. Long may it continue. 👏😎🤘

      It has been a lot of fun. Can't imagine going back to life before running and youtubing now. Thanks so much for all the support, Ben :)

    Hey Mark! Your journey from a non-runner to an ultra runner is incredibly inspiring, buddy! It's amazing how you've embraced every challenge along the way, from the early struggles to the triumphs of completing ultra marathons. Keep chasing those dreams and inspiring others with your incredible journey!

      Hi mate :) Thanks so much for the kind comments. I can't wait to see how much I've changed and progressed over the next few years. It's been a lot of fun, and quite a challenge at times, to get to this point.

    Ah, it's been a journey mate and a great one to be a part of. It's been cool being party of a small running RUclips community that's growing up together. I'm looking forward to seeing how the next couple of years unfold and maybe we can toe the line in an ultra race someday soon!

      Thanks mate. I take a lot of inspiration from you and other youtubers around us. Makes a big difference having good people to bounce ideas off and chat about things in the comments. Let's make it an ultra that's not in the middle of summer shall we? lol. The heat is getting to me :)

    Been following you from the start mate. You have come a very long way in those 4 years, and entertained us along the way. Thank you for all the effort, the getting lost, the stinging nettles and blocked footpaths that you have overcome. Most of all, thanks for the humour.

      Thanks mate. It makes me wince when I look back at those really early videos. So glad you've stuck around to see the gradual improvement. I like to have a bit of a laugh while I'm out and about. Makes everything seem that little bit brighter and more cheerful :)

    I absolutely love the stylistic vibe of this video, it was simple, engaging, and it really captured your journey through your lens but we also got the feeling of running with you. Very well done! Mark you are so inspiring and your videos prove that over and over again, by you just going out there and trying the training plans and showing that all the training pays off. Thank you for telling your story and not giving up on this running channel. We can't wait to see what you do next!

      Thank you, Jen! :) I was pleased with this video. Something a bit different, a bit like you with the stove cleaning video. It's great to experiment with these things. I'm slowly getting more used to including voice-overs when it is needed. Who knew RUclips could be so much fun (and a lot of work lol)!

    Amazing video Mark. Loved finding your channel and learnt along the way. Very similar things that I'm also experience as I go along my journey. Great stuff! May it continue.

      Cheers mate. I'm still amazed by how quickly you've become such a strong runner. Really impressive. I think your 1 year story will map to my 4 year story lol. Keep smashing it :)

      Thanks, Reto :) I finally managed to get that Parkrun done in the end. Ticking off the things I want to try in this great big running world, bit by bit.

    Love this video, Sparky. It's always good to hear a back story behind the channel. Love the bit where you talk about eating more coming into a race. I have the same issue. 🤣🤣

      Cheers mate. I was listening to the first couple of podcast episodes today. Will be good to get those on when I'm in the gym, lifting or Zwifting, from now on. Great stuff!

    Aye, it's an addictive thing this running malarkey 🏃‍♂You've come a long way Mark, though, on your next video, I am expecting some nurses running away from you & some Benny Hill music 🤣 Good to hear how your running experiences have gone & as you were describing them, I was thinking, 'I remember that video'! Loved the footage of the overgrown gate, you can't half pick a route 🤣

    • @markg99
      @markg99  4 месяца назад +1

      It is indeed mate! I can't see myself stopping at any point soon. Will look into that idea with the nurses... :) I think the overgrown gate was a highlight. Probably the peak of my overgrown path rambling career. I'm getting a bit fed up of the red blotches, scratches and nettle stings on my legs now. Roll on Autumn :)

    I have just started running. I can only run for about 40 seconds atm😂. How old were you when you first started, just curious as im 41, you look about my age.

    • @markg99
      @markg99  6 месяцев назад

      Good start! My plan had me run for 30 seconds then walk for 90 seconds and repeat 8 times at first. That felt like enough of a challenge back then.
      I was almost 45 when I started, so quite similar to you. Best of luck with your running. It can be a great hobby and interest as well as giving the obvious health and fitness benefits.
      I'm 49 now and feel better than ever 👍🏻🙂
