    Andy, thank you for this. I’ve been really struggling with the driver lately. Watched this earlier and went out for nine holes to try it out. I hit some of the best drives I’ve hit in a long, long time. Fingers crossed this is the solution I’ve been looking for. Even if it isn’t, the satisfaction of hitting five good drives in a row….priceless

    Perfect! I’ve had one lesson in my lifetime. In hindsight, I should’ve taken more from that teacher. Why didn’t I? Well I had my John Daly swing, it was my first year or two in golf. But I hit it well with some inconsistency. This was like 2000 and he recorded my swing with a 5-iron. All of my planes were perfect. Shaft and swing were perfect. And I was playing a cut then. Tremendous power, but I would lose some to the right. He gave me a lesson to shorten the backswing to Tiger Woods’ backswing. Felt like I never even hit parallel. He had me take the club straight back for about 12-18 inches then henge my wrists fully at that point. Like you showed in the video, naturally, I would hinge inside and open. So by hingeing so early it felt so weird, like I was taking it back outside and closed. Now I still had the problem of what I’ve said before, “how do I get the club back to the ball square in so little time compared to my naturally long backswing (with a drop at the top).” He was right, and so are you. I should have stuck with it, but I still remember that lesson (high IQ Guy here), and try to use it today. To many watching this lesson, it will feel like a closed face. So I’m glad you explained what that really is so they will know the difference. I’m working on this currently. Thanks 🥂

    Subscriber from Nova Scotia…really had a A-HA moment with the Pete Cohen equal pressure drill in my swing! I cannot emphasize enough how this has improved my ball striking and accuracy. Everyone should incorporate this movement / drill into their game…they will be shocked. Cheers MikeR.

    I have played the 18 bries App for 2 years and really like it. The extra cost is worth the stats , it has helped me identify holes in my game. Toptracer ranges are awesome I agree, mats are hero shots anyway so have fun. I purchased a Garmin R10 and love it. I have dialed my distances and it has me 3 shots better this year on my handicap I use it every time I hit balls and I check to make sure I am not to much Over the top. Plus I understand my game and what wind and temp does to my shots way better than I used to. Great content rick !!

    Do you do the equal opposite before takeaway and just hold it during the takeaway or do you do the equal opposite during takeaway

    • @andycartergolf

      Yes, its a closed feeling if you were open

  • @Graham-bg3ij

    Amateur golfers also mis position their ball at address ( too far back - especially juniors ) leaving very little chance to square up the clubface with natural hand / arm action which is really what we’re looking for with the driver

      @@andycartergolf Hi Andy, at 8.54 in your video with Pete, on Pete’s backswing, the club face looks more open than you are suggesting?

    • @andycartergolf
      @andycartergolf  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes to be fair that was wildly open! But I think he's emphasising the 45 degree angle at this stage because he hasnt properly taken the club away, but good spot.@@darrellduffy3866

      @@andycartergolf I only spotted it as I’m really trying to get it. I love Pete’s teaching, yes, they are quite difficult to understand, however, if you watch them repeatedly, like I do and practice them, like I do they start to bed in. My feel of the 45 degree, right elbow down on backswing, then spinning forearm on downswing are transforming my game & practise! Looking forward to the new season ⛳️

    46 secs in and you have the driver waist high and have not even begun to turn your shoulders. Wrong! This kiddies is a perfect example of complete and utter rubbish we find all over the internet. Be careful who you get your info from!

    • @andycartergolf
      @andycartergolf  10 месяцев назад +9

      Ill-informed comments like this is why experienced golf coaches like me have to make content for people like you who have zero visual understanding of what they are looking at 😂😂
      The shoulders have moved. The hands have moved towards my right thigh so to do so… the shoulder have moved!
      You’re welcome.
      Learn dont bitch if you have no idea!
      You can disagree and use your own theory but dont bring my experience and knowledge into disrepute 😘
