    I recently (December 2023) purchased Govee's latest underglow setup, and they made it an 8 piece/strip kit. They retail at $69.99, but if you watch Amazon, you can land them for $45 like I did when they had a lightning sale and a $10 coupon available.
    Fun fact: Goto Subiespeed and watch their JDM DRL/sequential turn signal kit install. There's an open slot in the fuse box to put the add-a-fuse on the STi. However, knowing that the main lighting fuse will work here, I'll just tap in there. This is great to know having already utilized the open slot for the aforementioned JDM kit, so thanks for sharing!!!
    I, too, am an avid Govee user. I have.... too many kits, lol. I'm not naming the number on that note, but I can say that their outdoor kits can put up with the elements. Living in Buffalo, NY, we get snow. A LOT. Not one kit has ever given me an issue due to water intrusion (I will cop to owning 6 outdoor kits, lol). That said, I wouldn't worry too much about the underglows having any issues on that front.

      I had great luck with them! Until the adhesive went, which is expected after a year of Texas climate. If I had proactively changed the adhesive they still be running. But yes sir, glad yours are working well too.

    just go to Lowes and get exterior silicone and just seal the ends with it, what 24 hours, then install. I would also seal the joints on the controller box.

    • @GTJesse
      @GTJesse  5 месяцев назад

      That’s a great idea, especially for the control box depending on where you mount it.

    Great video! A year later is the kit still working based on your concerns in the video? I am looking to add this kit to my Miata (I have a VA body STI, same color as yours, as my daily) for visibility purposes as I seem to be invisible on the road to big pickups at night. So I'll be using this for safety rather than vanity so reliability and durability are important to me. Thanks!

    • @GTJesse
      @GTJesse  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey Yoshi! The kit worked great up until I lost adhesion and the front came loose. Replaced them with a new kit a few months back now. But i still stand by these from a value prop perspective, I would just recommend checking the adhesive on the double sided tape ever 3-4 months to make sure they’re still holding on well.

    I just bought this kit, it'll be here in 3 days so this tutorial has been helpful! I have a 2021 WRX limited so basically the same electrical layout as you. I saw another comment with a Premium trim who said that their turn signals didn't work, but since the limited headlights have integrated turn signals it should be fine. Do you think the fender lining is the best place to route the wires through? I have mudflaps on and it's a hassle to remove and reinstall them.

    • @GTJesse
      @GTJesse  9 месяцев назад +1

      I hear you on the mud flaps, I was in the same boat. The main challenge with this kit is the lights are wired in a series of two and two. Ideally if I were going to do it again I’d try to use the interior fuse box and run lines from there too but unfortunately that may not work since the lines are in a series. You have to go from side skirt to rear bumper, and from front bumper to side skirt, since they’re 2x2.

    I just purchased these today for my Yukon, I’m not sure when I’ll get to the installation. Great tutorial with the add a fuse part. Just curious if doing it the fuse way does it draw any power from the battery? Like if you were to leave them on over night what battery issues would you have? Thanks

    • @GTJesse
      @GTJesse  9 месяцев назад

      Nice man, have fun with the install! Regarding the battery drain. It all depends which fuse you use. I specifically chose a fuse that will let me turn the lights on without anything else being on so I’d be good at meets and shows. Unfortunately this also means that even when the app is powered off, there will be a minimal draw on the battery. It didn’t kill my battery over night but over time my battery did die. I’ve since hardwired them into a switch and have had no issues. If you tap into a fuse that’s also tapped into a switch in your car (like your headlights) then you won’t have any battery issues, but will have to have you lights on to use the underglow.

    Oh, only question I have is - did you consider doing heat shrink around your plug connection for added moisture resistance?

    • @GTJesse
      @GTJesse  Год назад
