I think that the audible and inaudible sounds are probably caused by the difference in how we use the vowels of our mother tongue. Japanese requires vowels to accompany all sounds, so even if the speaker doesn't pronounce the vowels properly, the brain automatically fills in the missing vowels. (It's the same as you arbitrarily complementing non-existing consonants)

The fact that Charon manages to survive fighting squads of elite soldiers sent by the High Table - considered near-invincible - I'd say he's had a past similar to Wick's.
