I just heard that in the original script, John was supposed to kill them. However, this was changed when Keanu practiced the choreography for the scene with Yayan and Cecep. The way Yayan and Cecep moved impressed Keanu so much that he believe that in canon these two would really give John a run for his money
And so Keanu asked the scriptwriters if they could alter this scene, and they granted his wish. This change was amazing tbh, as we got to see more of John's morals with this outcome. He knows that he's been spared before by the twins, and in exchange he decides to spare them in return
The respect Keanu have for others has always been so outstanding, and this script change is a good example and reminder of that

Yup, there were plenty of times where Wick, with a nearly 2 foot and 100lb advantage, could've been destroying them with punches when he had them mounted or clinched
Instead he kinda slap chops them out of respect
That one guy who he chopped on the side like 6 times instead of caving his ribs in, that was the same respect they showed him at the start
It probably explains why he went almost exclusively for throws, it's the most damage he could do without going overboard with 100+lb weight advantage. The only two throws he put his weight into ended the whole fight, one after another.

Perkins, the guy outside the Red Circle, Morpheus, Common, Bronn, The cute dog and the guy with a cute dog, Ip Man and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. So yeah he is a killer and he doesn't have problems with killing, but definitely doesn't enjoy it and avoids it if he can afford it. For example he was sure that the guy outside of the Red Circle won't come after him, so he was probably like "well why kill him".

Oh holy shit so this is actually cool. Let me (an indonesian) translate the nuance of the translation to you.
"bertarung dengan anda" (fight with /alongside you) basically has a similar meaning to "bertarung melawan anda" (fight against you or just simply "fight you") in Bahasa Indonesia.
But, they can definitely make the script "melawan", and even though from an Indonesian perspective hearing that only provides a small difference, it absolutely is easier to do it like that so the english translation is clearer. But they chose to instead go for the other word, "dengan", i believe whoever writes / translate that is aiming for the double entendre.

Like don't get me wrong; Keanu Reaves is doing some very impressive stuntwork for a man his age, but he's definitely noticeably slower than he was in the first John Wick film, and the filmmakers are clearly working to adapt the film around that.

Ironically, this scene shows how difficult it is to fight a bigger opponent. When John got back into his groove, it didn't matter if they had knives or martial arts, he just threw them around and controlled them with his strength; people often say that size doesn't matter in a fight, and you would be partially correct if the big guy was lobotomized with zero knowledge of fighting.

Size doesn't matter in a fight when the size is close enough, or the smaller person is better trained and experienced in fighting larger opponents, but there is a reason weight classes exist. When it comes down to it, 1v1 with similar training/experience, if the opponent has and extra 3" of reach and 50 lbs of weight, they're gonna just be able to throw you around better, and getting thrown into a wall or picked up and slammed into the ground hurts no matter who you are.

It’s interesting how the phrase “be seeing you” is used in the franchise. Originally, Viggo’s use of it was basically a last taunt. He was dying, so “be seeing you, John” was saying you’ll die soon enough, and neither of us are ending up in any sort of good afterlife. If there is a hell, Viggo knows he will go there, and he’s telling John that he will be too.
It’s used fairly often in the series past that point. Ruby Rose’s character basically uses it in the exact same way and same circumstance. Cassian uses it as more a threat (he can’t keep fighting but he intends to come after John again when he can.) I could be wrong, but I think this is the only time it’s used in a non-dark way. John says it as a way to say “this fights over, no reason anyone needs to die.” Wonder if that’s just coincidence, or if there is more of a pattern to it I just never picked up on before.

As someone who has seen both Raid films, there's something almost 4th wall breaking about these 2 in particular saying "Nice to meet you, Mr. Wick." and "It's an honor to fight with you, Mr. Wick." It's almost like they're not their characters saying this, just two well-renowned action stars telling Keanu how happy they are to be there.
