The admiration Jim Cornette had in his eyes while chatting with taker, said it all
Yeah, that was the deal! You could see the genuine admiration and respect, on Cornette's face, that he has for 'Taker. That was awesome to see. 👍
@@justafanofnerdculture7602 100%.. Taker is the epitome of being a professional badass along with a professional mythical entertainer. I dont care if you like the WWF or.not, when that bell tolls you feel the magic and why wrestling is so great. 🥰👍
@@tacotom3492 Agreed!
@Domo Jones Yes, and everyone does respect him.
@@tacotom3492 They play the bell toll at my local high school games when the kids come out for a football game and my mind immediately thinks of Taker.
When Taker finally rides off into the sunset, it will truly represent the end of not only the Undertaker character but the end of the last star to truly be bred in the territory system.
He said that when he wrestled Shawn at mania. They were the last of their kind.
It seemed to me like he did “ride off into the sunset” when he got back on his motorcycle and drove away after his boneyard match/fight with AJ Styles at WrestleMania this year.
I'd much rather he ride off into a Sunrise from the darkness, rather than a sunset.
HHH, Rey Mysterio, Edge still there. Sometimes Kane and Show.
@@avoidjesus314 Show definitely did not come from the territory system. He won the WCW title in his first match.
Jim Cornette made a cameo and he was giddy as a schoolgirl while talking to taker
The look on his face was hilarious. Like he saw god or something.
Like a little fanboy, it was pretty funny.
Imagine seeing Taker at a Waffle House in Savannah, Georgia after a Smackdown! Taping.
Do they have waffles with cucumbers there ?
@Blaze Mordecai nah it's because he's the greatest wrestler ever
The behind the scenes workings are infinitely more interesting than the actual product. I was done watching wrestling in the mid 2000s, but shoot interviews, podcasts, and documentaries like this one reeled me back in.
Yup
The only Superstars I like today is Alexa Bliss, Samoa Joe and Lesnar
Me too except I quit watching in the early 2000's.
Same here. I still watch wrestling when i can, but the behind the scenes and stories is what i really enjoy
FACTS
Undertaker was and still is just better and more professional then anyone there.
Undertaker was always the coolest. One of those rare personas that you wanted to believe. Even knowing that it is a show, you never thought that Taker was not a serious badass. "Larger than life" is the best way i can describe it. Everytime that gong sounded, and the lights went down....you knew the show was about to get good.
The stuff with Kane early on, as hokey as maybe it may have seemed in a realistic way, couldn't have been pulled off as well with anyone else. Like when he first came back after the 98 Rumble to confront him and officially agree to fight him at WrestleMania after swearing he never would.....if anybody else had that spot....I doubt it'd have worked the same way, with the same emotion and crowd reaction. Only he coulda gotten the moment that they did out of it. It's one of the best ever to this day, and he's the major reason why.
As far as in ring ability, mic skills, accomplishments, memorable matches, locker room respect, longevity, and vintage moves...Undertaker is the GOAT
Without question.
If TAKER doesn't remember the Streak being Broken....then Why should We?
The Badass Undertaker is 4-0 at WrestleMania.

@@gqn2 True
Jim LOVES the Undertaker! I think it's obvious here.... He respects the fact that the Undertaker has always taken the business seriously.... This is good stuff..
"I will make time to watch more of The Undertaker" Says it all really.
It sure does!
Wdym
After watching the first episode of the Last Ride, it really hit home that Undertaker has given his all and then some for the business, he deserves his ride off into the sunset.
The only thing that I wish WWE had done sooner with Taker was switched him to his current gimmick sooner than they did.
Does it not piss you off to see what a guy like him has sacrificed to maintain the integrity and mystique of the business and then you see all the chuckle head half wits on TV these days pissing it all away?
Steven Thomson Yes, it does and that’s why I really haven’t watched very much wrestling in the past two years, it became very unwatchable.
Mean Bob Enjoy the rest of your day.
Mean Bob triggered
Mean Bob troll lol
Jinder Mahal himself said in an interview that his mom/Indian moms in general back in the 90's told their kids to go to bed early or else The Undertaker would come get them. It's actually true btw lmao. That's how iconic Taker is.
Amazing first episode. Can't wait to see the rest of this series. The amount of respect I have for The Undertaker is immeasurable.
Same brother
Mark.
I honestly think pairing 'taker with Paul Bearer was genius. Brother Love as a manager ironically made 'taker less believable than one who was a creepy funeral home director (almost as if Paul could be the cartoon so 'taker could be the badass)
Undertaker Forever. True old school wrestler who takes the business seriously. The Undertaker is Respect. I think he is one of the true greats of wrestling. Nuff Said
joseph costello absolutely my friend!🍺
Taker always protected the business
he would legit kill some motherfuckers now, if he was around more than once or twice a year.
Especially when Vader grapped the guy in Kuwait. Taker never budged
Tbh, Undertaker has had a social media presence for a while now. Michelle has posted pictures of him for years and Taker himself has had Instagram for a while now. He's done various interviews, including being on Stone Cold's podcast. He's been out of character for a lot longer than before this documentary premiered.
I remember a Biography Channel series of episodes about wrestling and Taker showed up in his Ministry of Darkness outfit but speaking out of kayfabe about Foley and Austin.
Taker just joked about that on the Bump. “About a year ago I got on social media. People were like “The Undertaker is on social media - there goes my childhood” “ lol
@@CarloisBuriedAlive Taker was on the Bump?? Wow haha I need to check that out.
Nazhussain07 I recommend it more for quick little side stories like giving McMahon a potato punch and him laughing at the Streak ending reaction guy lol
Millennial Smark you’re stuck in a bubble smark
The Undertaker epitomizes pro wrestling
Doc was amazing can’t wait for the rest
Jim, way back when he did the biker gimmick there was another video or DVD, This Is My Yard, it was basically a Mark Calaway doco. His time in WCW with the Skycrapers. Getting the call from Vince, "Is this The Undertaker?" (What the hell is this?) Bitching about the Inferno match. And Hogan. His wife Sara. His tattoos. His bikes. While you wait for part two watch this.
bitching?
@@abderrahimabderrahim6659 "They told me what we're gonna do is have you in a ring surrounded by flames. And the idea is to set your opponent on fire. And I remember thinking, 'wow that sounds like a really great idea' (heavy sarcasm). Pfffffft, yeah...anyway..." For Taker that's heat. Think he described the match sucking because of the danger, how uncomfortable he was with the risk. It was so hot you couldn't breathe.
It's half kayfabe, he was talking there still in some sort of his character and maintaining his feud with Kurt Angle
Cheers for the recommendation
Stop the presses, Corney said something positive about something WWE produced
I love Jim, but I think he's so full of nostalgia, he doesn't see that since the 2000s, the product has been changing. For fuck's sake, since the beginning, wrestling has changed at least 4 times in what it used to be. It literally was nothing but an act in circuses. No one took them seriously, but they were entertained. It evolved into serious characters, where you took the characters seriously. Then it went back to its hokey roots, having people like Hogan, Savage, Ultimate Warrior. Then it progressed again, thanks to the steroids scandal. Where it took a mix of both things, the hokey and showy stuff, with down-to-earth wrestlers from the likes of the Hart Foundation. Now it's evolved again in the past now that styles are clashing in the world. You're getting the best types of action from around the world. From the Japanese Strong Style, to the Luchador style.
Joey Ryan's penis wrestling is funny as fuck, because it's a fantasy EVERY MAN EXCEPT JIM and his ilk has thought about. As a guy, you look at your dick and you're like "I wonder what the fuck I can do with this thing except JO and have sex?" and Joey was like "I can flip people with my penis." So while there's more and more down-to-earth wrestling, there's still gimmicks, there's still storylines. Just because something is stupid to him, doesn't mean it's not well loved and is mocking the business. If anything, it's evolving the goofy and entertaining aspect of the wrestling past and honoring it. He's *entertaining* people. He doesn't do this stuff to appease critics or Cornette. He does it to make the fans of wrestling happy and laugh.
One thing you can never take away from WWE is the production value of documentary stuff like this that they do. Wish they would do more of it actually
their whole production is honestly AMAZING and editing is GREAT but their presentation is terrible
duzted what
@@1882Stu the show they put on is overly scripted and corny. but the production value is top notch.
duzted corny is opinion. ‘Overly’ scripted is a bit of a weird thought as all tv is scripted. There’s not many networks in the world that would let people on their tv with a live mic and have no idea what they’re going to say.
Cobedizzle Of course live television needs to be scripted. But there’s a big difference in giving someone bullet points of what they want the direction to be and handing someone a complete word for word script of what to say. It takes all the human element of emotion out of it and is why wrestling promos today are flat and boring. Give someone bullet points of topics you want to hit on specifically and let them phrase the wording and put it together themselves, so it sounds natural and believable coming out of their mouth.
The Undertaker one of the few legends that no one can every say anything negative about.
One of? He's the only one.

Taker is one of the few people Jim really admires and cares for he said one time in an interview that taker is the most professional guy he has ever worked with.
I love the Undertaker. When I first got into wrestling back in the early 90's as an 11 or 12 year old he was the main character I was drawn to. One of the first matches I saw him in was against Kamala. So this feud was my ticket into the strange world of professional wrestling. I was hooked by the gimmick.
All the injuries he's had, all the surgeries couldn't keep in down. His dedication to the business and his character are very admirable. Mark Calloway is the man.
I lost interest in wrestling when i was 13 when i discovered girls. My last memories were of stone cold, the rock, kurt angle, and of course Taker being a badass. I'm 32 now and i decided to give it another try a couple of years ago. There was only 1 familiar face remaining. He is a giant among men. Figuratively and literally. A relic from another time. A true legend. If this were another era in history, they would write fables about him and what he did. So much respect to Mark Callaway.
Different generations.
Roman couldn't keep kayfabe in a hotel.
Taker has given his life to wrestling / mcmahon. Times have changed, sadly.
@Millennial Smark Social media could also be used in favour of Kayfabe like MJF
@Millennial Smark I blame the dirt sheets
Millennial Smark the curtain call killed kayfabe
That one really stuck out to me.
Corny is 110% Correct, it’s like the NFL films, A Football Life, or, 30 For 30, it’s awesome stuff!
Steamboat and Taker - two guys no one seems to have a bad word about.
Dan Hodgson mysterio is another I've never seen anyone say anything bad about
Umm... Owen Hart ?!?
I’d add Foley into that list as well.
@@BodaciousBob66 well Ric Flair didn't like Foley for awhile.
There's also Jerry Lynn, Tito Santana, Aj Styles, Christopher Daniels, Any member of Demolition, almost everyone in the Anoai family tree, Road Warrior Animal, Tom Prichard, any member of the Midnight Express, Arn Anderson, Sherri Martel, Rick Martel, Tommy Dreamer, Raymond Rougeau, Jimmy Hart, Harley Race, Kevin Von Erich, Lou Thesz, The Godfather and some others I can't remember. But that's still a drop in the bucket compared to everyone who has been in the business.
Seeing the art gives me bad feelings that Undertaker would dress up as Santa Claus during Christmas one day after he retires.

Jim’s given 2 of the biggest stars and 4 of the best workers in the last 30 years their break. ( Storm , Taker, Jericho, Al snow ) And yet people still try to discredit his opinion
Jim Cornette has done it all and beyond in wrestling. He is the closest thing to a Jack of All Trades, Master of All (except being a wrestler, ironic enough lol).
D-Lo Brown and "Bombastic" Bob Holly.
Taker should have gone undefeated at Wrestlemania. Not lose to a part timer who only knows 3 moves. 😆
Corvette has so much respect for The Undertaker. The contribution Taker and Cornette made to the business is staggering.
I absolutely agree with Jim that they chose the right time to do this documentary. Not only does it show that he's an awesome person but also sparks interest in people who may be newer to wrestling to go back and view older material.

I think it's crazy they can record EVERYTHING and make a show of it if there is interest or story/angle.
WWE is really great at making documentaries.
That's the magic of recording hours and hours of video to choose from later.
I know he's not really an undead, wild west necromancer, but he sells it like he is so I believe it and by default makes me appreciate all the effort he put into a character that shouldn't have survived past the Golden Era of the WWF. I still feel like it only hurt his career when he went Saudi Arabia tough, not only morally, but physically as well as those were some of the worst matches I ever saw from him.
When did Terry Funk become the undertaker
Undertaker, today, is reminding me more of Andre The Giant at Andre's late 80s run. Both are legends to the sport!
I have been listening to Jim on a daily basis for well over 5 years and on this one he is dead on.
I love Undertaker, and it's unquestionable he's worked as hard as anyone in wrestling, but considering some of the things they've done with his gimmick over the years I wouldn't exactly say he's avoided silliness.
I was surprised when I saw Jim Cornette appear in the documentary whilst talking to Undertaker and while the camera was rolling he didn’t say “You fucking exposing the business”
The HHH Hell in a Cell match should've been it. It was the end of a four year story with Shawn and Hunter. They all embraced eachother at the end. And he didn't lose! His legacy will never be tarnished per say but he's for sure hasn't done it any favours with some of his later matches. At Hell in a Cell he could still go and a high level. But I guess he's made about ten million dollars since then so good for him.
I still remember the ”American Badass” picking up the puppy in the ring and thinking, oh no!!! No one was safe around the Undertaker.

I heard Chris Jericho mention the night he got caught on fire. He said half of his jacket was melted away. And you could smell where he was burned. And he took the walls of Jericho which had his chest in the mat. The chest that was pink and burned.
Mark has always been first class and he'll go out first class and his own way his own time and we wish him the best🤔
Yeah, Undertaker would never do anything silly like talk to a drone. He'd kneel before an urn that magically controlled him.
He went over with me on the segment where he had his hand slammed in the casket and he dragged the casket behind him to chase the opponent.
Jake Roberts on the funeral parlor
Who knows if its true or not. But allegedly right after what went down in Montreal. Taker was the one who told Vince that he had to go talk to Bret. Now Vince might have already planned on doing it. But if there was anyone on the roster who could make Vince do something he would rather not. I would think that's the guy. In fact I can't see anyone else even trying to tell him what to do.
It's pretty much confirmed. Dave Meltzer talked about it, Dark Side of the Ring brought it up. So the story goes Mark first ask...asked mind, no "taped fists" or anything, Michaels and took him at his word on not knowing. So he pounded on Vince's office door and bellowed, "If you don't open up this door and get your ass out here I'm gonna knock it down and kick it!" Vince did answer and Mark told him, "If you still want to have a company tomorrow you'd better apologize to Brett Hart. I'm quitting if you don't." There's toi many sources sharing this to not be real.
Have a good weekend Jim. Entertaining as always.
Not sure about Taker, but Kane did strike someone with lightning, a cameraman, and lit him on fire
I wish WWE does more of these documentaries. I really loved the Triple H one, the FCW one is also interesting, and the old History of Wrestlemania from 9 years ago. This was on another level though. Because it just feels so intimate.
TAKER IS THE MA and seeing him in person is Awesome. No Jim he never killed anyone with a lightening bolt.
I like the fact that this is under the category of film and animation lol can you imagine a kid looking for some angry birds video and stumbles into Cornette ? Lol

Taker truly is the ultimate badass for just eating all of those pyro blunders, unbelievable this man is.
I wish taker could do podcast interviews. I think him and Jim would make gold chatting together.
Undertaker was probably why I believed in Santa Claus longer than I should have because if a rich billionaire owns a undead wizard who wants to beat people up why not a immortal fat guy who gives kids gifts
Kane I believe hit someone with lightning during their lightening face-off. 1997-98 Star Wars force lighting come to life.

Undertaker had a concussion in the wrestle mania match against Brock Lesner..... maybe Undertaker was booked to beat lesner and continue the streak but got concussed durning the match so lesner and taker did what they had to do to finish the match and lesner took control. If the real video of his debut can be found, how many people remember that he actually debuted as "Kane the Undertaker?" That's how DiBiase announced him. Also how they determined Kane's name eventually.
While Undertaker gets and deserves massive respect for protecting his character, you've gotta wonder if it limited his opportunity to be mainstream and in movies and the like.

The match with Roman was awful. So was his appearance at the Rumble. I was depressed witnessing it. But I’ll be damned if I were his friend if I’d have desire to tell him not to do this anymore.
Mean Bob so which wrestlers do you like?
Mean Bob boohoo you didn’t like 5 years (out of 30) of his gimmick. You fail to recognize passion and good wrestling psychology.
And that match where he jumped on the camera man and the camera man missed him and he landed on his head is what many believe to be the best match of all time at Wrestle Mania. Wrestle Mania 25 was my favorite too. He went another 20 minutes after that horrible bump. The camera man was the son of Jimmy the Superfly. And he was supposed to catch him but it went wrong. Then the 10 count and you can tell it was hard to get back in the ring. But he did and continued the match. And that elimination chamber in 2010 when Undertaker got burned was hard to watch. I was there live and it was scary. Most who watched on TV missed it. Because you could not see it. But live you did. And the pouring water on himself. 2 times Undertaker got burned with pyro. It happened in 1998 too. Undertaker was at the ring post doing his entrance. Kane's pyro went off and nearly burned the Undertaker. I think it was the July 6 1998 Raw or the July 13 1998 Raw. What was strange is Shawn Michaels was under the ring at elimination chamber to cost the Undertaker the match. In 1998 Shawn Michaels just returned to the Announce table after leaving after Wrestle Mania 14. Just strange Shawn Michaels was there both times. He even let Chris Jericho put him into the walls of Jericho at the end of the Elimination chamber. That had to hurt. Most people who watched by video just thought he rushed to the ring. Because that is what the commentators said. He was was waisting no time tonight. But actually he was burned. Chris Jericho said you can smell the burns on him. One of my favorite Jim Cornette videos.
Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Triple H and Undertaker, are those the last major wrestlers from the attitude era?
Undertaker is like Gravedigger from Monster Trucks
In 198ish when he started as Texas red he had no idea he would be making millions years later
It's a five part series jim
After watching it I don't know how anyone doesn't think Taker is one of the best.
When Undertaker is inducted into the Hall of Fame (which I hope will be next year), it's going to be a major event that's gonna go beyond the WWE.
I dont think there'll be anyone in the room who won't be on their feet when that man walks onto the stage.
I'm hoping it's in a few years time, when this Coronavirus thing will end up as a distant memory. He deserves a proper Hall of Fame induction.
Any other wrestlers probably doesn't get that gimmick over and it was truly believable
Jim is the man..I think he would be someone on the wrestling mount Rushmore, a legend one of a kind tell it like it is..I just I am so glad to live in a world where at least Jim speaks the truth..
The Undertaker broke his character back in the 90s, and has had numerous character breaking moments throughout the years. If the Undertaker was in his peak now I have the feeling Cornette would have already cancelled him.
Mark undertaker calaway is the greatest of all time!. Thank you taker.
Taker vs The Fiend needs to be his final match. Pass the torch to Bray
Undertaker talked to an urn and has literally shot lightning from his hands Jim
Taker can do that.
Super Angry in not saying he can’t I’m simply pointing out The hypocrisy
Broken Matt Hardy is doing those things right now.
gqn2 exactly my point
To be honest I don’t think it’s so much that Jim is being hypocritical, as it is just immense respect for Mark Callaway that prevents him from really ripping it. If you notice at the earlier portions of the video he mentions “shooting lightning at the heels”, there’s an audible sigh and that trademark silence before the rant. But instead he moves onto Mark’s work ethic. Meanwhile, at another point he mentions that Taker’s early gimmick was of a movie monster. His tone here seems to indicate that he is not fond of the hokey dead mortician Vince McMahon concocted, as he followed by saying “When he was given the opportunity to showcase more of what he could do.” And readjusting his evaluation to - again - Callaways skill and work etiquette.
