Some of these things to me were never acceptable. Spiking drinks, running trains, and the list goes on. As a mother of 2 sons, none of this is acceptable behavior. A woman has the right to withdraw her consent at any time, even I you are in the middle of a sexual encounter. You need to stop! If you do not, it's a criminal act. We need to stop saying this behavior was acceptable, and it never was. I believe Cassie and whether or not she consented in the beginning she had every right to withdraw her consent to anything else.

The accusers should have to make a criminal claim, that's investigated before a civil suit can be filed.
Yeah but a lot of statutes, laws, and criminal courts aren't on their side when it comes to these accusations since empirically proving assault and emotional abuse, especially when it happened a year or multiple years ago, isn't often apt to meet thresholds like other crimes. It's already super tricky. It's more often than not that taking it to civil court makes more sense to find some justice and vindicate the accusations on the record.
The criminal statute of limitations has already expired, and since the evidentiary standard between criminal and civil cases are significantly different, all you'd be doing is spending a bunch of money and time on difficult-to-win criminal cases that would likely have NO bearing whatsoever on the outcome of a civil case (most of which would be settled).
You're making things unnecessarily complicated because you don't understand how the law works.

@@Ivanblock757The threshold to prove a criminal case is already tricky when it comes to sexual and emotional abuse, and way harder if it happened years ago. Civil courts are often the only avenue that victims can get vindicated on the record and find some justice.

I understand that if a man is famous, he might have to deal with women or just people in general lying on him for clout or money. But let's not act like if a man is famous, he's not exempt from doing anything wrong, illegal or immoral. I live and work in Hollywood and it's way more a reality that folks have been getting away with awful shit for years with seeming impunity due to their power, industry influence, wealth and team of pitbull lawyers. MeToo was the dam finally breaking for dudes like Weinstein who was getting away with it so long that *everyone* knew it, but he was basically the final boss of the industry who could make or break careers with a single thought. In reality, Cassie and others going against someone like Diddy on the record means he was absolutely doing this type of abusive shit for a long time because like I said about Weinstein years back, the real story is the throngs of victims who can't and won't come forward due to shame or feeling powerless.

On the other end of the spectrum there are plenty of women that lie. Women pursue men just as well as men pursue women, especially men of power or notoriety. From athletes, movie stars, executives, all the way to a manager at Wendys. I have a problem that a woman can be the agressor in pursuing a relationship and then play victim with impunity. People talk about women like they are dumb and helpless and that is far from the truth. A smart woman has far more power and smarts than a man can dream of. Wrong is wrong and if anyone harms another person it should punished but we have to look at all these cases individually and not cover them all together cause there are some lies here also.

I do agree with you guys that a person should not be able to accuse someone without giving that person the benefit of knowing the accuser. There should be a law that states that if you don’t file a law suit/police report, you should be sued for making a public accusation.
I think people are confused about the Jane and John Doe thing. It just means that you are anonymous on record and your name is redacted from any paperwork public postings and that the trial will be closed proceedings not open to the public. Did defendant attorney judge and the jury we'll see and know the name of the victim. You have a constitutional right to face your accuser. It would never it be possible for the victim to remain anonymous through trial and court proceedings
The person who is getting sued knows who is suing them, and the public don't need to know. Imagine all the harassment that person would he going through. Look at Cassie. Jane Doe has a civil suit, however if there is enough evidence it could lead to a criminal case since she was a minor at the time of the alleged assault. I don't like that it took so long but there's comfort in numbers I suppose.
That's not true. Civil suits are settled on preponderance of the evidence lol. I've served extensively, and trust me... U can lose even when it's clear that u didn't do anything. It's not the same as criminal court where it's all based on evidence and beyond reasonable doubt at that. I have been in cases where we decided that the company being sued wasn't at fault... Still had ppl convinced that they should pay, and this was all based on the opinions of the jurors on the medical system.
