      *GongsunXin* -- What's my point? If it wasn't crystal clear already, my point was that Joe is extremely biased when it comes to Diaz. Joe is usually able to remain neutral when talking about fighters but he lets his emotions get the better of him whenever Diaz is talked about... and ESPECIALLY if talking about Diaz vs McGregor.

      Both fights are justified. Diaz-Conor are 1-1 and Tony is the Interim champ. Both of them need to happen, who cares which one is first....It will be a great fight either way.

    • @xmikex902x
      @xmikex902x 7 лет назад +6

      Yeah Joe’s losing touch with the common audience. Or he becomes all disillusioned when he starts talking about Conor. He’s spitting some ridiculous shit here. Bottom line, Conor vs. Diaz does better PPVs, but not that much better, and it’ll always be there. There’s NO reason to do the 3rd Diaz fight right now, other than Conor protecting himself/ufc protecting him. Schuab is right: Conor needs to be next for his career/legacy.
      Plus, as Luke Thomas pointed out recently, stop giving a fuck about what does best PPVs. Idgaf. The next fight to watch is Conor/Tony. Conor can do his little Nate BS later.

    I think they are underestimating a McGregor vs Ferguson draw. Is Diaz REALLY a household name? I didn't know who he was until I was a UFC fan. UFC fans are the ones attending and buying the PPV. Diaz is losing relevance while Tony is gaining momentum. If you don't want to see McGregor vs Ferguson, you probably wouldn't attend either event. Fuck Diaz 3, it can wait

      Tony keep his chin high against Kevin Lee, if he faces Conor he will (should) not keep that chin high. Kevin does not have the stand-up skill Conor has, Conor won't knock you out with one punch, he will tag you, drop you, tag you and TKO you. Conor can win that fight but I would take Tony

    • @jperezjp444
      @jperezjp444 7 лет назад

      Dougal Fraser much better response, I agree, Tony trained with much more emphasis on Kevin Lee's wrestling which is his strongest weapon, you never train the same for 2 different fighters. Let's just hope the fight is made and we have a hell of a main event.

    Schaubs right on this one. Nate and Connor could fight at anytime, so they can wait a few years and still make that. Nate doesn't plan on fighting in the next few years if it isn't against Conor, so obviously the fight to make is Conor/Ferguson. Plus even if Conor loses the trilogy fight, it still makes sense time to do the fight with Nate. If he wins and unifies the titles however, you have a gigantic trilogy super fight for the undisputed 155 belt.

  • @xmikex902x

    My god joe is unbearable when it comes to Conor. And none of them get to the point that, yes, Diaz is a bigger fight, but not that much bigger. There’s a small enough margin that Conor would look like a fuckin duck if he didn’t take he Ferguson fight. Also, anytime him fighting Ferguson is brought up, Joe quickly skirts around it. The guy is losing touch with what the common audience wants and thinks.

  • @SuperTimeStretch

    Joe Rogan is my guy but he is so wrong here. man oh man. McGregor vs Diaz 2 could not have went either way. I don't even see an argument for a draw led along Nate Diaz actually winning. I don't understand why Joe is talking about the judges' decision because it was a clear win for Conor, we did not need to see the judges' scorecards in order to tell that Conor won that bout but we did see them and the judges got it right. The bout was not nearly as close as everyone claims it to be. Dillashaw vs Cruz was a razor thin contest that was a lot closer than McGregor vs Diaz 2 and the judges happen to get that one right also. I do not register Joe Rogan's argument at all and I usually agree with Joe on almost everything but Brendan Schaub ate him alive here man.

    Schaub is ABSOLUTELY right here. You can't run back a 0-2 record. In Joe's world if Conor lost the third fight by a close decision they could turn around and run it back for a fourth fight just because it was close. Once a guy solidifies himself as the better fighter you have to let it rest. Like how many times were we gonna watch Rousey-Tate? Eventually it's just over.

    I actually agree with Schuab. No way you could sell the public on a third Diaz fight if Conor is 0-2. What Joe ignores is that if Conor had lost that second fight to Diaz, he probably never would have gotten the opportunity to fight Alvarez, and a trilogy with Diaz would have been off the table. It would have to be something like Edgar vs. Penn 3, where they had to wait years for that to be a feasible fight. If you fight a guy for the third time, and you're 0-2 going into that fight, the public just interprets that as "Oh it took you two tries to beat this guy."

    Wow, I never agree with Brendan but in this case he's absolutely right. If Nate wins twice, Conor's team wouldn't go for a 3rd. They would have pushed a different guy. Conor is the draw, the opponent doesn't matter as much. Conor Nate would sell the most, but Conor and anybody else would be close enough...

    I'm not sure what MMA guy who talks too much made up the 3rd fight with Nate happening. Conor has the title now and Nate is nowhere near a shot at it. They keep suggesting the UFC is going down a crazy route when they haven't done anything yet. Tony is interim and is going to get the title shot. I love Nate but you can't sit on ass and expect to get a title shot.

    I gotta agree with Brendan. To the “outside mma fans” of ufc, Conor vs Nate Diaz 3 would not hold as much value if Nate was up 2 and 0 on Conor. Diaz would be a bigger star and Conor’s fame wouldn’t be as high. To the general public it wouldn’t hold as much value. Money wise it’s in the Diaz 3 fight, BUT I want to see Tony vs Conor for Conor’s legacy and for him to defend his belt against the Interim belt holder. It wouldn’t make as much money as the Diaz vs McGregor fight 3 however... Conor should fight Tony next but if UFC wants the money fight it’s McGregor vs Diaz 3.

  • @RMichaelHimself

    Tony vs Conor would sell big. Conor vs everyone he fought in the UFC has had record setting PPV numbers. Even Mendes, Nate and Alvarez... and the casuals had no clue who those guys were.
    Tony vs Conor would sell better than any UFC fight he's had so far. The concept of the fight itself sells.
    Any casual who hears about this will have this thought process:
    "Oh Conor's fighting the best UFC lightweight right now, he has the interim belt. He has good chokes and McGregor is weak there... he lost to that Nate guy from a choke. His name's Tony I think. Apparently he's won like 10 or 11 in a row. Let's look him up on RUclips. Oh damn he throws crazy elbows and rolling leg attacks. He dances and has a weird training style. This guy's entertaining. Let's buy this."

    Okay, who are the people who buy PPVs? I'd guess that the people who buy them are the fans who listen to podcasts like this, or people who watch UFC regularly. Why would, like Joe and Brendan are assuming, "peripheral fans" buy a PPV? Most PPVs don't have transcendent stars like McGregor, so by their logic, surely no one would be buying those PPVs if PPV buyers are peripheral fans, but clearly there are people buying them. I reckon that there are committed fans that will always buy the PPV regardless of who's fighting, and then some more irregular fans, who maybe can't afford to buy PPV every time but take an above-average interest in the UFC and mma who will buy it when there are reasonably big fights on the card. I don't the UFC should be focusing on peripheral fans, because I don't think that those are the fans that make for big pay per views. I honestly believe that Tony vs Conor would be a bigger sell than Conor vs Nate, because it has more intrigue, Tony's earned the title, and I'd say he's a bigger threat to Conor than Nate is. I don't really care that much about Conor vs Nate, I've seen it twice. Yeah, if it happened again I'd watch it, but I'd be more likely to watch a more legitimate fight in Conor vs Tony. UFC, make the right decision.

    [IMO]: Joe is wrong and Brendan (Schaub) is right here. Schaub is not trying to give a hot take, he's simply saying that wins and losses matter in the UFC's decision process of who is to fight who. Joe on the other hand seems to be giving some pseudo-philosophical insight about how numbers/wins and losses, which are very concrete and imperative things to the UFC's operation (I would imagine), are insignificant to selling a fight. That does not make sense to me. All in all, I think Joe needed to tone down his intelligence-driven arrogance for this segment. Schaub is right and his mentality explains why he's been so successful in climbing the UFC-business ladder.
    Also, how you gonna be talking shit about Tony when his Jiu Jitsu mentor (Edgy Brah) is right there lol

    Conor better not fight Diaz next. He better get in there and fight Tony. The guy has a 10 fight win streak and he has beat plenty of good guys in that streak. Conor can't have 3 out of his last 4 MMA fights against Diaz. Not to mention Diaz hasn't fought since their last fight. This money bullshit and PPV numbers crap is getting out of control. I want to see champions fight contenders, not all these big money fights. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing super fights here and there, but this is getting ridiculous. They keep trying to put on all of these big cards with 3 title fights on them and great undercards. Other cards then fall flat. They need to sprinkle this shit all over the place, not just 1 big card every couple of months. It's a terrible strategy. Also, Joe was borderline retarded here with his arguments.

    If Conor didn't win the rematch, his run would have been over. Kinda crazy, this whole ride, came back from the initial loss, stakes were high vs. Alvarez, and he delivered. Propelled his basis to talk shit to a level where he got a fucking fight with Floyd. Everything happened just so to make way for him becoming potentially the most famous martial artist ever, and worth 100 million dollars.

  • @benjaminkirby6161

    Rogan really trying to sell that Nate could've won the rematch and it was controversial. But look at the scorecard. All 3 judges went 1,2,4 to Conor and thats how the masses saw it. 1 Ref and all the nate fans or conor haters whatever you want to call them gave it a 10-8 to Nate. Thats as close as it was. At the very best Nate gets a draw. Everyone wants to remember nate throwing 100 punches in the last minute of round 3 but want to forget all the hard shots and leg kicks conor threw in the first few minutes of all rounds. Then its the "if the fight is 30 seconds longer then Nate submits him" excuse but you can say that about 1000 other fights. Facts are: the fight was 25 minutes and nate couldnt submit him in any of those and he was picked apart for 3 of the 5 rounds although 4 was pretty close and mcgregor was the aggressor in those 3 rounds

    Joe isn't taking into account the credibility that will be lost if Conor doesn't fight the #1 contender. Even if Nate is more known by casuals, there would be an equally big pushback by hardcore fans if he doesn't fight Tony.
    The trilogy against Nate at this stage would be a mockery, core fans would be so upset that it would offset the hype from casuals.

    Joe is talking utter shit, to suggest a rubber match is as significant as any other is just nonsense. Conor always looks for the money fights and I think the Diaz fight is deffo the one to make. I reckon, especially after all that boxing training, he sleeps Nate within 2 rounds and makes a TON of cash for it.
    Conor should let the UFC take his belt, fight Nate for big money and close the trilogy, let Tony seethe and defend as a champ that no one sees as legit (ask Cormier) and then fight him when Tony is desperate and feeling the pressure.

    Tony vs Conor will draw half million buys less than Conor vs Nate 3, and Conor has way better odds against Nate, smartest way to match them up would be to have Conor fight Nate and Tony fight Khabib on a fight Night in Russia, get massive views and whoever comes out the winner would be a way bigger draw going into the Conor fight, Tony deserves it though man, 9 wins in 4 years, more than Nate and Khabib combined in the same time frame

    Winning and Losing a fight does not matter in this day and age... If you need proof look at Nick Diaz and how many fights he lost since being in the UFC, but is still a major draw.. McGregor could lose 3 in a row and still be the huge mega draw we know him to be. Any fighter who is a big draw will always stay a big draw.
