- One needn't love #football or alcohol to understand the importance of #Stadiums and their surrounding #pubs. The changing of our world has taken place without its inhabitants wants or needs in mind. Today's youth may believe such a world is impressive, but that's only because they've nothing to compare it to. The new #WestHam stadium is a beshmerchment on the memory of #UptonPark and that of #Stratford. Now, you're ferried in and out like a posh restaurant with little room to socialise or bond.

Bang on, mate. Our pubs and football grounds were our Saturday.
And our winter Wednesday nights.
As a Cardiff fan of 50 years, i went to upton park in 79 and the following season. Upton park was a scary place, but it also had a cracking atmosphere. Cardiff also made a mistake in moving from Ninian park to the new Cardiff city stadium. The word souless has been used a lot by other teams fans who also moved stadium. Its a true reflection of City's new stadium. A new generation now watch the city. I talk to The Boys i used to go NP with from the valleys. A lot won't go to the new stadium. Also our chairman changed our kit to red!!! That was also the end for a lot of City fans who never went back. The good old days have long gone. Its the plastic brigade who now watch football. Cymru 🏴
I've been a west ham fan for 48 years.used to have a season ticket at Upton park..since our church was pulled down I've not been to the soulless bowl and have no intention to..RIP Upton Park 😢⚒️⚒️⚒️
I’m a Stratford boy, born in Forest Gate hospital. I was 5 yrs old, 1970, first time over the Boleyn…I was at the final game…heartbreaking night…I ain’t been to the fish bowl once…my days of going are done. From what I hear, it’s full of newbies that ain’t got a Danny.⚒
It is. There was some twat with his bird standing up taking pictures of themselves with a fucking selfie stick during the game against Spurs the other week. That’s your West Ham ‘fan’ these days.
Lots of change throughout the country & not for the better .............
Went to West Ham v Fulham , I’m a Fulham fan must admit it’s nothing compared to Upton Park and did I miss the East Ham working man’s club 😩
Bang on 👍
Good points made Vin. Hope you're well. Irons !!
Sold a dream living a nightmare ⚒️
Absolutely spot on mate,
Away fans singing "you're not West Ham anymore" really touches a nerve because it is actually so true as far as our roots and tradition is concerned.
Sullivan, Gold Brady. None care about the fans. its all about money. Nothing else. WHU RIP.
english football has sold its heart and soul
Spot on I am not renewing my ticket for next season as I just can’t put up with the soulless dump ,from penthouse to shit house just to line the pockets of the greedy ,
Spot on vid mate , gonna happen to Everton as well when we move to bramley moore ☹.
so many clubs have lost their sense of belonging, being moved to wastelands or out of town shopping areas, then the pubs go,shops etc,
I think Tottenham got it right, new Stadium without really moving, some of the old pubs have gone but we still have a lot of places to drink plus a brewery in the new Stadium....there is a rumour that you lot might move out to Essex, I think if that happens you will lose your London roots forever and might even affect your fan base by lowering your numbers....anyway I kind of wish you luck although we are bitter rivals...but it is football rivalry.....I hate seeing the changes, some good but most a lot worse.
The original location for the carpenters arms was on the high street, I remember it from the 70's. ⚒️
They (Sullivan, Brady Gold) don`t care about about local businesses or communities or supporters, when we moved from Upton Park they destroyed that instantly, today the premier league is big business corporatism, and how much can we fleece the fans of there hard earn cash - I will never visit that souless London stadium.
The ever changing demographics of the country in general and the east end of London in particular have contributed towards this situation.
Ouch that hurt in many ways great video but ave to say that's the way it is the rich control thing
Just goes to show more people does not equal more culture.
I went there to watch Solihull and have to say the ground is awful compared to wedt hams old ground. Thankfully we are building our new stadium less than a mile from our current ground.
💯 on the money my son
Accurate vin 🥃
Place is packed on a match day but the atmosphere is sterile, the bars in Westfield on match day are shite.
Bring back the powerhouse nightclub Oi oi had some wicked nights in there .👍🏻
I've been to 2 games in England
One there and one at craven cottage
Cravens atmosphere was ac100 time better
We made more noise than West Ham supporters on Sunday. I enjoyed the buzz around the stadium but absolutely soulless when inside from home fans.
Vin, have u been down Fleet street lately??? I drove through it the other day at work....its literally been flattened, most of the old historical buildings have gone....it makes u want to cry
No it ain’t mate. I’m a West Ham Stratford boy and work for the corporation of London. You are right in saying that theirs 2 missing chunks gone but they were 70s shop fronts that had Sainsbury’s which will now be a massive new judicial court the other is 120 Fleet St. Which has been dormant for past 2 years. The Daily Express building is Art deco, the black and chrome one. That is listed and is still in place and will look magnificent once tarted up. All the proper old buildings will never be demolished and will always be preserved. As for our home time Stratford well that’s another story a??? I used to go school at Rokeby which they have now moved to Canning Town almost on the old Trinity school site. What lemon moves a school from Stratford to Canning Town ???? Ffs back in the day that would’ve caused civil war 😂😂 one of the comments was we’re all in Essex now ! So tI think I might almost be the last one standing. I moved out of West Ham buildings or as my ole girl called em Manor road buildings only 5 yrs ago and I’m now out in middle of Essex. Don’t know why I didn’t do it donkeys ago ⚒️
@dannyward673 plus 8 Salisbury Court and the victorian Hack and hop pub, all located in the so called conservation area but not given listed status, so what ur saying is none of the thousands of new glass blocks popping up all over the city ever had anything standing there before???
@@teddyboy9116 Hack and hope weren’t exactly a listed building was it now. Done a good breakfast buffet on a Friday though… 4-7 Salisbury court is listed and is still standing while the new court, nick and office block is being built around it. So that ain’t been demolished. Look some of the buildings rightly must stay but some have to go simple otherwise we’re still be having wooden Tudor buildings if you had your way 😂😂 mate heritage is important but do is change and evidently your one of them that probably don’t like change. Change is good if for the right reasons but all the buildings you mentioned on Fleet St were not listed for a good reason because they weren’t worthy just like the Hock. Check the Tipperary boozer just reopened, why ? Because it’s listed and was the first Irish boozer in London. Look I’m Stratford born and raised and so was my nan, great nan and great nan and great great great nan. When everything was horse and cart. When I look at Stratford now yeah I’m gutted because of my memories but the change is good for my daughter and my grandkids.
@dannyward673 I'd say the opposite to your last sentence, I'm worried for the future of my grandkids, this whole country has changed but not for the better unfortunately
@@teddyboy9116 as a whole yeah I agree the country is a state thanks to the governments, but as for Stratford I know Carpenters Rd and all its industries was good for us all, my mum and dad both worked down there and that’s how they met. But a lot of doe has been pumped into the manor thanks to the Olympics and that can only have been a good thing. We were all poor living around there but was to a point happy. The country yeah totally effed.
How many west ham fans live around west ham anymore? We are all in Essex. Perhaps you should also film around Hackney Wick for a balanced view.
Liberal hell hole
And Hertfordshire ⚒️
Up near Hadrian's wall 👍
@@allanthorpe7139 Hertfordshire is more Tottenham
What a brilliant speaker…much kudos to you
Destruction of British native culture.
By British native businessmen.
@@tobybaker5187 no
@@britainslostlivingpubs Completely and utterly. Who else moved them out of there? Ahh, I get it, your'e one of those lowlife, racist little weasels.
Carpenters Road via Hackney Wick took you through to the Hackney Dog and Speedway track. I cant place now where tgst ysed to be in relation to it. I think it was where the Copperbox is now. The area has changed. Im not sure it has been for the betterment of it.
The sterile management of the human resource.
Like the moon
Everything my dad gave me is gone in comparison.
What give my son is completely different and quite frankly, dreadful
Just another toilet bowl
If you are looking for wonderful places and people in Britain, read a book...an old book I like Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (there many others). Britain's present is bleak and its future far worse.
This is what happens when cheap money gets printed, man u had the upper hand in the 90s with American hedge funds dropping debt onto the club, now the glazers sold up as the interest rates rose,i suspect sullivan will run away from west ham when it's mot tax funded anymore.
Athletics Stadium.
You can never go home again
You forget that football clubs aren't runned by hopes and dreams. West Ham was in heavy debt. Where do you think the money is supposed to come from?
Your talking shit mate and see those buildings behind you I lived in them 2nd highest attendance in the prem. COYI
Numbers mean nothing. That's why I say just because you fill something up doesn't mean it isn't empty. Antifa are nonce filth, so you're wrong, son.
Yeah but we had to move to grow as a club. We all loved UP but if we'd stayed we'd be playing in the Championship. Been there before, no thanks! ⚒️
No
I'd rather be in the championship and still have upton Park. We sold out to corporatism. Absolutely soulless
@@essexanglosaxon3949 You're in the minority. Home to Preston Plymouth & Hull: no thanks! Loved UP, walked home from there as a kid, but tmes change.
@@Polo-xm9xk the place is a soulless shit hole just a corporate money grab . Be honest hardly anyone likes the place. They are looking to move us anyway, the land is worth billions. So possibly a move to tilbury. We won't even be west ham .possibly ESSEX UNITED. That's what you get when you get fooled by people like sullivan and Co.
