@@ellisfrost8646 Just sitting in bed and playing with your board with your feet is super underrated. Started scooping tre's and flicking kickflips and I can barely land a moving ollie.
@@jeweerly2319 Idk, it's one of the better ways I found to build to fast twitch muscles in your ankles and calfs. 90% of this shit is just trial and error, but being able to practice the motion and build a foundation even when I'm still learnin to land on my board seems more than useless. Helps w foot placement too cause you'll just dome yourself in the mouth or get upside-down popsicled if you miss catching your board. Idk dog just talkin.
The tip of flicking smth off of your shoe is something I have never heard in any kickflip tutorials. It got my kickflips much more consistent, as I fully rotate the board every time I think of it. This is just brilliant! Thanks!

That Pikachu -thing was definitively a game changer for me! It just klicked. Landed my first kickflip little after this video came out and that shoe -thing really helped. So thanks alot!

@@ellisfrost8646 I mean, I found that I was putting more of my front foot on the board & putting my toe into that pocket in the tail as I got better & more consistent with kickflips. So, pretty much what you said in the vid, lol Your advice of "flick slower" also lines up with a trick tip Lizard King did ages ago saying to "delay the flick" for better-looking (popped nice & high) kickflips. Like, no lie, this & Dale Decker's trick tips on kickflips are probably some of the best I've found.
Really helpful video, im gonna try the "higher" kickflips now next time im out skating. I spent a whole day re learning them and now i wanna get some swagger on them. What a frustrating trick LOL
i learned how to kickflip in one day because of this video. Biggest problem i had was flicking and pushing the board down, which essentially caught the board halfway. To solve that i imagined kicking someone near the scoop of the board
I’ve been struggling with the rotation on kick flip and after trying the pikachu trick in my first try it works so well that the bored went 180 extra! 😅
Nice video. I have an unrelated question for you. What condition is the vert ramp in? St Neots is the closest vert ramp to me and I'm planning a trip to go there for the first time when lockdown is lifted but don't want a wasted journey if its shi#y.
Ive been in my house for 10 days after rolling my ankle skateboarding snd these videos arent helping.. all i wanna do is skate in the sun!! Ur styles so clean mate, good shit
my main problem with kickflips is that the board somehow flies forward instead of flipping under my legs... the tutorial itself is awesome, I'll definitely try the pikachu flicking technique
This honestly helps but its how u understand the video because he didnt really explain it. You weight down the board when squating low to do the trick you are more balenced . With this, if you are upright you Are less balenced but its easier to do the trick because youre weighing the board down less You are more balanced but it makes it TWICE as hard to jump back UP to kickflip(anytrick tbh) depending how deep u squat
I'm stuck somewhere between double kickflips, and sending the board flying...and definitely the fear thing. Not sure how close I am to 1000 attempts though. Maybe I need to get a Pikachu to flick
I was no joke probably doing at least 500 attempts a day not commuting for abt 4 months everyday. I took a break cus I got burned out, and the fear factor just left me during that break and I came back and just said fuck it (I had docs on, wasn’t even planning on skating hard at all that day) and landed it like third try. And since my flick was already on fleek, the kick flip wasn’t even bad
I have kickflips down but whenever I wanna do a high one or any type now it overflicks and I think that’s coz I ride a small board I’m gonna go up in size shirt key
This is probably because your body needs some rest to buil nerve pathways for your muscles. Basically your body records what muscles you twitched on "succesfuler" attempts. After resting the body builds the needed muscles and pathways, which makes yoyr stronger, more balanced, and more coordinated. This makes you more confident on the board
Wait a minute.... 'effortless' kick flips?! green hairdo? Is he trying to troll us? Hahaha :D Anyway great video as per usual. I think beginners also underestimate how quickly the flick has to be. At first I was just way too slow.
hey i was looking for some help, i've been able to kickflip for a month or 2 now and i've gotten them pretty consistent, the only thing is that they don't look very good. i don't catch them with my back foot it's more i just land with both feet and then hit the ground a split second later, and my flick looks weird. ive had people tell me to flick up and out more but i can't seem to get it right, i flick out pretty good but rather than my foot flying above my board its more the same height (like just beside the board) or a little below it
I can’t land heelflips yet as I always jump forward but can easily get 2.5-3 rotations of the board on an 8.5” if I try, kickflips though, honestly I’ve tried a hundred times but it’s almost like my leg/hip doesn’t bend that way, I’ve tried a load of mobility exercises but it hasn’t really helped. Any tips? Also what was with that kid lying across the spine? 😂
Flick up and jump high I ride goofy natural heelflipper I can land kickflips too but have to jump higher so I don't get shinners. I also jump back a little to kickflip. An if you can't land just focus on 3 things jump flick catch it's all one motion. That's my advice take it or leave it.
