He's make a terrific Inspector Allyn -- and the young woman from 39 Steps, Lydia Leonard, would be a wonderful Troy -- I read all these years ago and loved them. Almost as much as Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane.
I generally loathe being read to, but I could listen to Benedict's voice for hours. He could read me the nutritional information from a cereal box, and I would still be riveted. *swoon*
English is not my first language and I'm understanding just about the half of what he's saying, but that doesn't matter, because his voice is so beautiful and he's so talented...I love listening to him, no matter what he's saying.
When trying to learn a new language try reading along in the book first in your own language then go English. Also 📚 Slow the speed down by one level, to be able to follow comfortably. M. Illinois. 🇺🇸
@@mwatts-riley2688 This is so funny, I had totally forgotten that I commented this seven years ago. I really appreciate you trying to help people and giving advice, it's just funny for me now because by now I'm fluent in English and have lived in different English-speaking countries, I think mostly in English etc. :D
I wish I could purchase all the books Mr. Cumberbatch has read aloud. It would make it easier for me to listen to on the treadmill. Or when I'm eating the ice cream out of the carton on midnight fridge raids...lol.
Every time he breathes heavily and sighed or speaks in a deep voice My heart stopped for a second and gets really hot in the room and I have chills all over my body every second What a magnificent voice and so sensual he has!!!!! i could sleep with this story and hes voice he would make me a heart attack with this voice he is so amazing!
Oh My Goodness, Benedict Cumberbatch's Voice is the Most Gorgeous, Beautiful, Calming thing that i do Believe I have EVER heard...BEAUTIFUL. Benedict, I Love you babe, Sherlock is the only way, and your voice is the sexiest thing, EVERRRRRRRR
I love how he say bunchy, it's so funny. I do love it when the people that reads audiobooks does, or in some cases attempt, the voices of the characters. There is some so amusing about it.
to person who said he would rather read books himself - you make no sense - why are you even listening or posting anything here? sometimes people have to do things and like to listen to something really good while doing them. . . a good actor is a good actor and totally different from reading it yourself!!
i'd much, much rather read books myself. i love not only visualizing in my mind's eye the way i want each character to look - a problem i have when watching a t.v. program or a movie - but the way i imagine each person's voice to sound. there are sometimes certain problems with that, though. sometimes, especially if you're reading a series - such as the allyn series - you may not be able to find an out of print book. on the other hand, you may be waiting in a hospital room for someone who's having emergency surgery and you don't have your book or anything else with you except your phone (and perhaps rather do that instead of watching t.v.). or there may be numerous other reasons. i, for example, am unable to sleep right now. i just came across this. i have the book, but i'm preparing to move and all books have been packed away. if i'm lucky i'll be able to go to sleep listening to this.
So glad Sarah Long and Miki Meadows revealed in their comments that part 7 - the final part - was missing. I am glad I didn't waste my time listening to this only to be left hanging at the end.
@xTheNightWatchmanx I do not strange... is☆beautiful, suggestive, provocative, masculine and sweet at the same time, with a rich palette of nuances and colors, one of your best tools as an actor, and he knows how to make the most, I love his voice I think is addictive. LOL
listening to books is something that i really enjoy but unfortunately many of the recordings i've come across were read in very a awkward way but benedict cumberbatch reads very well.
Fantastic story and reading, however the final part 7 has been deleted and is cannot be found anywhere. Well worth listening to but have a copy of the book for the ending.
Can this be found on youtube or another free place where the quality is bearable and in one file? Not that I don't appreciate it but I listened to it with headphones and the quality is not good.
If only he had bothered to find out that Alleyn is not pronounced Allain but Allen. Ruins it for me, because it is one of those things that once you know, you know, and once you know he is mispronouncing it in a way that Roderick Alleyn never would, it's ruined. Nearly all names in English are pronounced in some peculiar way to ensure the aristocracy can sort them from us.
ahhh... Benedict is a true master of audiobooks... I love the way he does it and his voice... well... most beautiful voice ever...
P
The voices of Cumberbatch and the late great Rickman make life worthwhile
i love his voice sooo much...its his voice that made me fall in love with him :-D
Gosh, he's so good! Seriously, how can he manage to play so many voices, I will never know.

Hahaha what a great way of putting it! Yes he has got a beautiful voice. I wonder if his cousin Richard spoke like that too.
oh, listening to the voice of the man you love defenitely the best way to learn English
***** I'm from Vietnam. Of course I learnt British English in school, but i'm not a hardworking student lol
I love all his voices for the different characters! Gosh his voice is so calming!!

His voice needs to narrate my life. It would be so much better, and I might actually do things with my life. Yep, he's now my personal narrator. Yay
Love him love Lawrence Fox.He also read online.Just 2 of the greatest!
Laurence fox amazing gent
Wonderful voice....perfect ENGLISH....
I actually have been a fan of Ngaio Marsh for a long time (since before Benedict was born lol). What a great combination!
I wish I could purchase all the books Mr. Cumberbatch has read aloud. It would make it easier for me to listen to on the treadmill. Or when I'm eating the ice cream out of the carton on midnight fridge raids...lol.
It is now 2019 and the last part is still missing. grrrrrrr!
This narrator's voice is so lovely and posh.
Ngaio Marsh + Benedict Cumberbatch = old school English perfection.
Agreed. I'm actually listening to this during working hours instead of music. His voice is just made for audio.
Every time he breathes heavily and sighed or speaks in a deep voice

"Ngaio Marsh + Benedict Cumberbatch = old school English perfection."
Ngaio Marsh New Zealander and theatrical producer? Not real English at all.

He sounds like he walked out of a Jane Austen novel. I love it!
Looks like it too.
Nah
Benedict could read me an eviction notice and I’d be giddy and beside myself! *swoons*
Warning: the last segment has been deleted. Unless you know the ending, don’t start.
Read me the phone book....slowly... Sigh xxx
Before you start listening to this series of videos, you should know that the last episode (7/7) is NOT on youtube.
So glad Sarah Long and Miki Meadows revealed in their comments that part 7 - the final part - was missing. I am glad I didn't waste my time listening to this only to be left hanging at the end.
CAREFUL, part 7 of this is missing!!!!
I just love it!

I love this, bv for the life of me, I cannot find the finale!
His "Detective Alleyn" voice is a lot like Sherlock's!
listening to books is something that i really enjoy but unfortunately many of the recordings i've come across were read in very a awkward way but benedict cumberbatch reads very well.
I was unable to find 7/7 and had to go to the Inspector Alleyn Mysteries tv series to get the end of the story.
No end to this bugger!
Fantastic story and reading, however the final part 7 has been deleted and is cannot be found anywhere. Well worth listening to but have a copy of the book for the ending.
@xTheNightWatchmanx It is also one of my favorit ♡series :) and I'm desperate for the delay when I expected to see the season neva shortly :(
Thank you for posting this! It seems to be missing 7/7 though? Could you post that?
thanks BC, you're awesome 😉
@naisho81 Thank you, I'm glad you like :)
0:33 - 3:12 He makes the most sexy sounding gossipy old bitty ever.
Can this be found on youtube or another free place where the quality is bearable and in one file? Not that I don't appreciate it but I listened to it with headphones and the quality is not good.
Great loved this but 7 of 7 is missing. Agh!
Just the sexsiest voice in the world
I'm in love
Benedict does read in a very eloquent manner, and has one hell of a voice. But with all due respect I like more to read my books myself.
Tricky, on a video website...
I love the way he says his own name
But I don't understand. If it is okay per rules to have 1-6, why isn't it okay do put on 7.
A cunning plot by the copyright owners to make you buy the book or audiobook to find out the end???
@CHARICHCH hehehe... Ben yeah, and u for uploading all these awesome vids :)
@dkmystery Thanks! But I think what you like really Bene LOL
It's a joke ;) A kiss :)

I might be dead yet, but I'm not sure.

Maybe remove parts 1 - 6 if you don't intend posting part 7?
Doesn't this sound remarkably like the
J Epstein case going on right NOW? odd. M
