Glad you enjoyed it! Opeth were pretty much done with the really heavy stuff at this point. There's a hint of it in their last 2 albums, but even that is more heavy blues than metal. The 4 records after Watershed will all be comfortable listening for you, I should think.
This album was a good start for your Opeth Journey. No Death Metal here. He had transitioned from the harsher stuff after Watershed. Although as you mentioned, those heavier albums tend to be what they are most known for. They know they are polarized in the song writing. In fact they made a double album with a duality of harsh and clean called Damnation and Deliverance which are complete mirrors of each other musically. I personally like both sides to Opeth.
Opeth are my favorite band alongside Rush,& like rush their sound has changed vastly over the years,I love their early death metal tinged material, but equally feel the same about their progressive stuff. Pale communion is my 2nd favourite opeth album behind watershed, track 6,the river is the standout track to me.
Hey Mark. Great feedback and thoughts here I’m just recording side 2 to release overnight. Thanks for watching and I will give watershed a look. All the best. Dave✅✅
Hey Mark. Just listened to River for the first time. Man, what a track. Such a quiet opening and then bang - all hell let loose and a time signature to die for. Great recommendation. Cheers. Dave✅✅
Excellent band. Unfortunately for you, some of their best songs have growls. His switch between the two vocal styles does however make sense and adds to the sort of demonic gothic vibe they have going on. Live is best to get your head around this. It took me a years.
Thanks Stephen. If I were to have a go at the Death Metal stuff is there an album I could try to see if I could like it? Thanks for watching and all the best. Dave✅✅
@@TheAlbumReviewchannel Ghost Revelries would be the one IMO. Good mix up of the two vocal styles and makes sense with the lyrics as it vaguely has a tied concept about a possession.
@DavefromARC I would agree with Ghost Reveries or Blackwater Park. I would give Harlequin Forest and Ghost Reveries Live a go. You may or may not like it but they are great performances.
Hi there. Thanks for the suggestion and I will give it a go. I’ve got side 2 of Pale Communion and then I will do this album on my next revisit of the band. Thanks for watching and your comment. All the best. Dave. ✅✅

Hi there. Thanks for the info. I loved this one. Part 2 tomorrow (hopefully 😂) and I will take on board your thoughts. All the best. Dave✅✅
Opeth is my favorite. Such a musical ride.
Hi Nathan. A first album for me but I really enjoyed this one and want to listen to more. Thanks for watching and commenting. All the best. Dave ✅✅
