My favorite fictional train has to be my own train of thought. Noone knows if it truly exists, and only god knows where it's headed. Delays, derailments, and absolute train wrecks ahead, that's for sure!
it wasn’t the first zelda game i played but it was the first i owned… and i am currently on my yearly play through of the game … just finished the snow temple and its tower of spirits counterpart but alas, now i have to do adult things
My forever pick for most underrated Zelda title. I so badly wanted to be a train conductor as a young child, and deeply enjoyed the mechanics, and especially the side quests to this game. So fun seeing you complete it!
My favorite small detail from this game: once you reach top cruising speed, the train's engine noises will align themselves with the overworld theme and become the percussion.
This game is special for me. It was the first Zelda game I ever finished, and I played it a lot growing up. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it overall. Also, while you are on the train for a majority of the game, at least you have one of the best overworld music tracks in gaming.
I had this game back in the day, but It hit a softlock glitch. In one of the tower dungeons, theres some point where you open a chest and it gives you a key to unlock the next door. In my game it gave me a rupee. Was stuck on that level forever and finally looked up a guide and saw the chest that was giving me a rupee. I would've had to restart my save file, so I just didn't get back to the game sadly. But I still have the game so I can play it some time when I find the mood. Great game though, I do wanna finish it sometime.
Oh dear god. The legendary Train Boner (if you don't understand it, just watch ToQger. That moment made me feel like it was Japan's way of saying "localize this, suckers").
Out of all of the Zelda games this game seriously frustrated me having to use the touch screen for so much and is the only Zelda game I haven’t completed.
My thoughts exactly! Just like WW and TP, they shouldn't be left behind on an old system! Plus there's plenty they could do with em. From revamping the visuals and controls to some QoL changes like maybe a warp at each section of the Temple of the Ocean King? (I actually think that temple is grossly overhated and very solid for what it was going for.) 😉
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596Mm, easy enough to imagine movement and sword swinging remapped to stick and button, and a remake allows for many things to be retooled for traditional controls.

In Phantom Hourglass, we are transported by ship. In Spirit Tracks, we are transported by trains. In Breath of the Wild, we are transported by glider. In Tears of the Kingdom, we are transported by whatever we can make.
It's a great Zelda game to play casually. I love this game when ever I need a nice relaxing game to just play some objectives with some relaxing music to jam to while driving the train from point A to B. It was the first time I actually connected with Zelda as a character, and I'm so glad they did her more justice in Breathe of the Wild after that. Just take this game at your own pace and don't do the rabbit catching or soldier training if you want to preserve your sanity.
I lived in Japan when Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks came out. Capsule machines in grocery stores sold full pen-size Zelda styluses that had a dangling shield that could be used to clean the screen. This made both games really fun and easy to play. These days, I use Twilight Menu+++ to play both games with the Circle Pad on my 3DS.
Honest to god the most underrated Zelda game ever, good story, pretty fun and funny, and Link and Zelda are so cute together! I have a lot of fond memories with this game. 💚
I played Spirit Tracks like a year ago and really enjoyed seeing Link and Zelda travel together. I hope we get another Zelda game like that because it's such a great concept!
@@freddyboy800 Well in general I thought PH's control scheme was novel, but not something I wanted to see repeated. But there's also other stuff like the train travel not being fun, especially when you're carrying a passenger. Phantom Zelda isn't very fun to control since you have to draw a line to where you want her to go and then wait for her to get there, hoping she doesn't get stuck on a corner. The pan flute is also pretty frustrating, since you move it around with the touch screen, making it very easy to accidentally blow into the wrong hole. At least I think that's why I kept messing up.
...I really wonder if these games should get a remake on Switch (or the successor), maybe with that they could fix some of the problems they had. (for me, in Spirit Tracks...THAT DAMN FLUTE...)
i love ST but i know it's not for everyone however i never called this link the hero of trains i've always thought of him as the hero of spirits. the lokomo, the phantoms, ZELDA. even the names of the tracks themselves are the spirit tracks. i always thought he was the hero of spirits. i'l have to see if the hyrule historia gives a definitive answer
I especially appreciate this game since it has a somewhat playable Zelda with somewhat unique gameplay. It's probably my favorite in the adult timeline and WW is second, given, only 3 games in that timeline.
I got halfway through Phantom Hourglass on the original hardware, partway through Spirit Tracks on Wii U virtual console. A Link Between Worlds on 3DS was such a great improvement for portable gaming in the series.
First ever Zelda game as a kid, will always be in my top 5 Zelda games. It might not hold up super well now, but it’s still fun to play through every now and then
I like Spirit Tracks well enough, but have only bothered to beat it once because the Spirit Flute freaking did not work for me. I even had to utilize a glitch to get past one of the Lokomo duets. For that reason alone, I prefer Phantom Hourglass, though you are correct in noting that technically, Spirit Tracks is the better game
Getting all the train part was long and annoying and I didn't even like the golden one when I discovered how it looks ! Personally, I prefer the sweet set (except for the cannon).
I actually loved the train transport quests and really hoped there was more of those. The main thing keeping me back from enjoying this game again is the flute ...
At this point the only Zelda games left for him to complete 100% are Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Zelda’s Adventure, Four Swords Adventures as well as Tears of the Kingdom.
I agree with him: travelling by train was by far the worst part of the game. Even worse than the boat in the original version of WW. Also, the full-touchscreen controls was a VERY bad idea, especially when you need to move quickly and precisely.
