Awesome video. Outstanding realistic result. So cool that you used cardboard for this. Incredible detail features and realism. This is inspiring me to do some scratch-building.
Very inspiring.. the card cutter works awesome..nice crisp openings for the windows and door frames. Great work with the pens and weathering. Really pushes the idea..you too can do this. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers mate! This card cutter is very handy to have, it even cuts through styrene really well too and yep its really easy to do these structures definitely not as hard as it may seem and the only limit is imagination! 😊💥
Totally with you on this material! I'm on a fixed income and in the process of planning an HO scale shelf switching layout. I'll be scratch building out of necessity. Oh, love that your using the shelf units to support the layouts! I've used heavier duty shelf units to support my last 2 slot car track tables and am using light duty plastic shelf units for the up coming railroad. Great thinking! and great artistic eye on the world! Thanks for sharing and nicely done! Looking forward to the progress on your new layout. Dominic
cheers Dominic! scratchbuilding is definitely a great way to save money that's for sure, if your going to post videos of your layout build I'll be sure to check them out, cheers for stopping by 😎
Thanks mate!! It really is great stuff to work with, easy to cut, glues well, takes paint well, beautiful stuff! Thanks for stopping by im glad you enjoyed 😊
Hello friend, you have a talent that a lot of modeler's wished they have. That was a really nice treat to watch, thank you very much for sharing it with us modeler's. - Dave B.
Hey thanks Anthony 😊 ive got plenty of projects coming up, unfortunately were in a lockdown so all the hobby/craft stores are closed, they say the hobby store isn't essential but us modellers wouldnt agree with that 😉😂
Very nice!! I like that that it’s made from cardboard; you would never know!!! The end result is amazing! Thank you again for sharing; love watching your builds!
Thanks mate much appreciated! Yeah its always amazed me that a lot of products that would normaly end up in the bin can be made into anything ya set ya mind too 😊 im glad your enjoying the channel thanks for stopping by - kiwi
Excellent job! The detailing you did really makes the building work. I've used cardboard from cereal & tissue boxes to build mock ups in the past. This time I'm using cardboard and foam board on a couple of more 'permanent' builds for the layout. Trying to do my part and cut down on plastic, lol.
@@TheSteelRoad Agree with you 100%. I've made oil/chemical storage tanks from repurposed mailing tubes. The clear plastic packaging used for croissants from Costco / Sam's Club becomes 'glass' for many windows in buildings on my layout. You can cut out 2 huge sheets and many smaller pieces from the packaging.
Your too damm good with that graffiti! Very nice build. The "thing" you painted Yellow is a bump stop. They are made of rubber so the truck doesn't back right into the dock.
Just finished binge watching your vids. I think this is my favorite. You have a great recipe going here. Easy and enjoyable to watch while still picking up lots of good tips and tricks. Well done mate.
Just discovered your channel and have watched a few of your videos. Excellent visual story telling! Usually I don't favor videos with captions, but you're nailing how to do it effectively. Great demonstrations. And I'm enjoying the rather funky music.
Cheers Mark dude! 😊 I had a little easter egg in there for you too but I forgot to add that clip with a few others when i was editing, id been up many hours 😴, but ill be sure to get a shot of it when i do a layout update 😉 and a big thanks to you Mark, giving me that shoutout has sent a lot of people over here for a visit so im really grateful for that my friend!
I really enjoy watching your videos especially the detailing, methods, and graffiti! One question, what is the ruler with the center cutter called? Where can you nut iy? I am in dialysis 3 days a week & started going back to watch your older videos. Keep up the great work!
Hey Peter, thanks mate im glad your enjoying the videos 😎 the paper cutter is commonly referred to as a "paper guillotine" or "card cutter" and i purchased this off eBay for $20 but im sure most craft stores or office supply stores would have them. Sorry to hear about your health mate I hope your on the mend!
Thanks bro! Its just called a card cutter I believe, $20 off ebay and I think most art supply stores would have them, they work very well! Cheers for stopping by man im glad its inspired you 😎💯
Cheers dude! Its called a "card cutter" and I got it off eBay for $20 but im sure most craft or hobby stores would have them, its perfect for scoring styrene sheets too!
Cheers my dude! The paint markers are from ebay bro, I use posca paint pens they are a bit on the expensive side but high quality pigment and the other ones are toolie art pens they are a bit cheaper and the quality isnt as good as posca but they still work fine 😎

Very nice job. You have shown that it does not take a lot of fancy materials to make a great looking building. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Larry! Yeah it can get pretty expensive using styrene so cardboard packaging is a great alternative! Thanks for stopping by mate 😎

cheers mate, some great results can come from the most basic items that end up in the rubbish bin, and styrene is so damn expensive too

I have to say this motivated me to start scratch building. What kinda cardboard is this and where did you get it? Craftstore?
awesome mate that's good to hear! this is just 2mm card stock that most craft stores sell but I get mine off ebay as it's a bit cheaper
How did you construct the railings of the small stairs to the side door? Which material?
I just used balsa wood as its easy to cut to the shape and the railing was made with floral wire
@@TheSteelRoad Thank you for the prompt reply.
What I meant to ask was, did you glue the wire together or solder it. If glued, which glue?
@@ajaydeshpande735 ah my mistake, yeah I just used plain old super glue, it works well with this wire
hola hermano excelente por favor comparte los planos de las estructuras saludos
Gracias hermano!, no hablo bien espanol 😎
Hey Kiwi where did you get the cardboard from?
hey Glen! i just brought a 5 pack of A4 card off ebay, I think this one was 3mm thickness, only cost a few bucks for the 5 sheets
