Draining Old Bad Fuel - How To & How NOT to

I need to drain the bad fuel from the bike (after sitting for over a year), and I thought sucking it out was a good idea.. It wasn't.
We tried a few different approaches with mixed success.
It would have been easier to turn the bike upside down and shake it!
