Damn, how did I miss this ?!? Been a DP fan since the 70's yet, never heard this version before. That's why I love music, there's always an unknown treasure somewhere out there.
Got this song on an old cassette, did a lot of hunting to finally get it on CD, The best version of Help, you can hear the emotion that was intended for the song, Thanks for the PURPLE love it
WoW )))) A very unique piece of classic rock, played by classic "Deep Purple" ... one of the best hard-rock era bands in the World !!!! >> I love their interpretation of "HELP" song.
Just the way Lennon wanted it to be... He wasted this song to be cathartic. But they forced him to make it more commercial. Nice to see that we have this version to mollify that emotion of not seeing John make "Help!" Slow and sad.
John hated how they had to "Beatle up" Help, making it uptempo and happy sounding. It's kind of a contradiction to the message of the song. Having said that, I love the Beatles version. I also dig Purple, and they did a great job with this song.
This is so......PURPLE!!! Man...I was fortunate enough to see these guys live...way back in the day. Awesome band...and pretty much ANY lineup of this band was great to see live! Nice post...and thanks for uploading! ~KSK
EPIC. I know this version for decades, still sounds very powerful. One of the best covers of the Beatles material. I guess it features Rod Evans as LV? Pre-Gillan era. Amazing!
This video could be the one that persuaded me to become a guitar player, at the tender age of 4. I know it had a ES-335 and it was 1968. I don't recall precisely but I still have some the image in my mind.
This is way better than the Beatles original version. Makes hairs on my back stand up. The solos on Hammond and ES335 have so much feeling. Nothing today can compare to this
Gorgeous rendition. I'm biased when it comes to Deep Purple. I prefer this to the original because it slows down to make me think deeper about this song.
Nice cover - more somber than the original. Richie gave a very interesting solo featuring string bending. His bends after 4:00 were not common for 1968.
First time I heard this. Very Nice, a Beatle song sang in the Deep Purple way. One of the best ever Beatle song covered by a great band themseves, Deep Purple.
Not only an altered and unique version of the Beatles song, help but sung by my second favorite rock band, the beatles being the first. Great job, deep purple.
Help, I need somebody Help, not just anybody Help, you know I need someone, help When I was younger, so much younger than today I never needed anybody's help in any way But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being round Help me get my feet back on the ground Won't you please, please help me And now my life has changed in oh so many ways My independence seems to vanish in the haze But every now and then I feel so insecure I know that I just need you like I've never done before Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being round Help me get my feet back on the ground Won't you please, please help me When I was younger, so much younger than today I never needed anybody's help in any way But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being round Help me get my feet back on the ground Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh

1968...it was the time for thoughtful, ruminating, wandering intros...and move over, Vanilla Fudge!! Here's a not as histrionic version as they would have done...but still in the same vein. Quite nice, I must say.
simonsbuddy yes, DP wanted to be the English Vanilla Fudge. The Fudge has long intros and did Beatle covers, so DP had long intros and did Beatles covers, and other pop covers as well. At some point they found their own voice.
Di awal pas liat ini dalem hati gua bilang "wah ini bukan deep purple" tapi setelah liat sampe abis ternyata eh ternyata bener emang deep purple karna ada sesi solo keyboard dan dibales solo gitar. Ntaps jiwa lah pokonya hehe
From what I have read Rod Evans and Nick Simper were treated very badly. They found out accidentally that they had been fired because no one had told them until they spoke to their record producers
Deep Purple doing the Beatles but sounding more like the Doors. I love it!
it is like Vanilla Fudge
Like barret's pink Floyd
I thought they were sounding like Deep Purple...
They sound like doors because of the organ

Damn, how did I miss this ?!? Been a DP fan since the 70's yet, never heard this version before. That's why I love music, there's always an unknown treasure somewhere out there.
It’s on Shades of Deep Purple, their first album.
@@Ihitthings3love that album so much, so bummed by it getting removed from Spotify 💀
@@7and7is what??? It’s off Spotify? What the hell for?
I love this version, because John intended for Help to be a slow ballad, and I feel like they captured that very well.
Tina Turner also sings it as a slow ballad btw
he was right
Absolutely the best beatles cover .
Jeff beck a day in the life
Allison Krauss I will
Joe Cocker ‘s ‘help from my friends’ shits all over this
Lyrics are so much more meaningful when the tempo is slowed down
True
We are all moving too fast to understand it all
best cover of Help i have ever heard.
Not the only cover
Dexter Morgan - The Damned did a version as the b side of New Rose.
Me too. 👍
Look up the John Farnham version
Bannarama
Noel Gallagher
One of the greatest rock bands of all times! Deep Purple!
i love beatles and deep purple
all we really need is love
@greenmean1 . Hahaha 😅 👍 😎
Deep Purple gets it !!! They play the Beatles song with the feel and emphasis in the right places.....
Insuperável timbre vocal de Rod Evans. ..que voz maravilhosa
Got this song on an old cassette, did a lot of hunting to finally get it on CD, The best version of Help, you can hear the emotion that was intended for the song, Thanks for the PURPLE love it
A great song is a great song. I've never heard this version, but it works. Mr Lennon certainly knew how to write a tune.
I love deep purple

WoW )))) A very unique piece of classic rock, played by classic "Deep Purple" ... one of the best hard-rock era bands in the World !!!! >> I love their interpretation of "HELP" song.
Great cover of help love both bands first time to hear this
Первый раз вижу, как Блэкмор скромно стоит в сторонке, гитару в руках теребя))) Лорд великолепен№1!
That guitar and the voice created the perfect mix
Shades of Deep Purple - amazing! First of their albums!!
So strange to see Ritchie without a stratocaster.
Probably how John thought it would be when he first composed it but hey you gotta top the charts :)
The most perfect version. Love it very much.❤❤❤
my God, they were soo young
Love this version. Needed it today.
Damn, those tower blocks in the background look so depressive lol
Welcome to Western Europe (:
Oh yes, I love this version!
Nick Simpler and Rod Evans were confounding members of Deep Purple. Just listen to the first three albums...classic!!!
David Jacob. I think the Mark I was the best line up ever of Deep Purple.
These cats looked so cool. Love the hair and styles.
Just the way Lennon wanted it to be... He wasted this song to be cathartic. But they forced him to make it more commercial. Nice to see that we have this version to mollify that emotion of not seeing John make "Help!" Slow and sad.
+Shreyash Phakade-Pawar that was a later john lennon piano demo when he was with yoko dude
This tempo definitely matches the lyrics. I could see Ringo and Paul getting into a groove and John's raspy voice.
John hated how they had to "Beatle up" Help, making it uptempo and happy sounding.
It's kind of a contradiction to the message of the song.
Having said that, I love the Beatles version. I also dig Purple, and they did a great job with this song.
Yeah! He'd love hearing this done the way he intended..
Tim Byrd
He most likely did, considering this was recorded only 3 yrs after his and 12 yrs before he died.
When the drummer does that dual bell hit it makes him look demonic. Love it
one word........"astonishing!!!!!"👌👌🙏🙏
I think this is the exactly right way John wanted to do this songs...kind of melancolic atmosphere...but they 'asked' him to do it more commercial
Best
Beatles
Cover
Ever!!!!
Rod Evans was the original vocalist for Deep Purple.Toney T. Isaiah.
And wasn't he crap here.
This is so......PURPLE!!! Man...I was fortunate enough to see these guys live...way back in the day. Awesome band...and pretty much ANY lineup of this band was great to see live! Nice post...and thanks for uploading! ~KSK
Just BEAUTIFUL !!!!
Beautiful DEEP PURPLE
When Deep Purple covers a song it becomes their own and often better as in this case.
Wow, pretty amazing
EPIC. I know this version for decades, still sounds very powerful. One of the best covers of the Beatles material. I guess it features Rod Evans as LV? Pre-Gillan era. Amazing!
one of the best today unknown songs of 1968.
*A-hem* Actually song of 1965... :)
actually ,,,,i think you will find he means 68 - the song was an obvious smash hit in 65 - so it was ignored in 68
Best unknown release of 1968? I am just amazed I missed this one for the past 50 years!
a Beatles hit .....unknown
unknown cover is what he meant
The only Beatles cover I've ever preferred over the original.
This video could be the one that persuaded me to become a guitar player, at the tender age of 4. I know it had a ES-335 and it was 1968. I don't recall precisely but I still have some the image in my mind.
This is better and more real than the Beatles version. The music fits the lyrics beautifully!
This is way better than the Beatles original version. Makes hairs on my back stand up. The solos on Hammond and ES335 have so much feeling. Nothing today can compare to this
Pré captain beyond kkkkk maravilhoso vídeo raríssimo
A gem.
Cool
i'm impressed, ''and I don't impress easily''..
What a historicaly intresting upload ! I ve never seen / heard this before , many thanks ritchie .
This sound so... so good. Not that happy "Help!" but really sad and moving.
Gorgeous rendition. I'm biased when it comes to Deep Purple. I prefer this to the original because it slows down to make me think deeper about this song.
The birth of the legendary sound of Jon and Ritchie
Nice cover - more somber than the original. Richie gave a very interesting solo featuring string bending. His bends after 4:00 were not common for 1968.
Just when i thought i've seen it all...
i used to really like this, thanks for bringing it back to us.
1965 Help was published and it was a shock to the music.
that's it. the best cover of help.
First time I heard this. Very Nice, a Beatle song sang in the Deep Purple way. One of the best ever Beatle song covered by a great band themseves, Deep Purple.
The best HELP cover , ever.
incredibile video, mai visto quasi uno scavo archeologico! best good flash back
Amazing footage...who knew they had such humble beginnings!
Beautiful 👍
Awesome..and it perfectly blends in with 'Anthem'
I told it then and I tell it now: you need a an extraordinary band to perform an extraordinary cover.
The blossoming of a band become one of the most famous Rock band in the the world...
1/2024....first time hearing this. Omg
Not only an altered and unique version of the Beatles song, help but sung by my second favorite rock band, the beatles being the first. Great job, deep purple.
The best line up. Rod Evans was incredible.
You need your ears checked. It was crap. Evans was off note, limited range, amateur phrasing.
Una delle più belle cover di una canzone dei Beatles...e non solo.
That was interesting. A surprisingly sedate reading of a rarely covered Beatles Classic.
This really shows the magnificent writing of Lennon/McCartney. Beatle mania made some songs too damn energetic. They did the song justice.
Изумительно
Thank you for sharing! ❤
Oh yes such an excellent video.
That song just got deeper with Deep Purple.
Still prefer the Beatles version to this slower one.
Dani K hahahaha your comment is actually funny, but also true 😂
Sublime interpretación, esta época binaria queda fuera de lugar.
Thank you I've never even heard this before!
Whole new perspective... this is much better ... I was taken from happy to eeerily sad yet comforted
The voice so unique
Wow haven't heard this in 40 or more years Forgot it.
I just like it ! It was the beginning of Deep Purple ! Why not ? Look what they became !
uh deep purple goes way further back dumbass.
lol, I used to live near those big flats in Hoje Gladsaxe, near Copenhagen.
Deep Purple...cool band.
So deep that can touch my soul!
Very deep
love this version.
This made my day thank you!
Magnifique interprétation. Voix guitare harmoniques impros.
Help, I need somebody
Help, not just anybody
Help, you know I need someone, help
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
And now my life has changed in oh so many ways
My independence seems to vanish in the haze
But every now and then I feel so insecure
I know that I just need you like I've never done before
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me
When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh
Кстати в "The Book Of Talesyn" паплы вообще в альбоме выпустили кавер на песню Битлов "We Can Work It Out".
Сейчас плати мильён бабла за такие приколы)))
Deep Purple - Exposition/We Can Work It Out (The Beatles cover)
Excellent

Fantastic!
Rod was as good a front man as you'd ever find. It was sad how he was treated.
i kinda like their cover
Love these moptops..Fab and gear
From what I have read Rod Evans and Nick Simper were treated very badly. They found out accidentally that they had been fired because no one had told them until they spoke to their record producers
Triste né 😢
WTF..... Never heard it before...... IT'S BRILLIANT :)
Thanx for upload :)
Эта вещь а очередной раз подтвердила- все выросли из Beatles, а откуда вырос Beatles надо пошуршать, хотя,таланта у них, не занимать!
!!!Awesome !!!
3:11 The way they sing he-e-e-elp reminds me of Lovey Rita. I can't help but miss the ah-ahaahh after it ;-)
