*It’s perfect for me. The size is exactly **Newest.Technology** what I needed. The sound is loud enough for me to hear without having to turn it higher. Suggestions on various uses is extremely helpful! Worth every dollar spent!*
I love my blue HomePod mini , the sound is surprisingly good for such a small factor. And I find Siri smart enough. Don’t want a google product spying on me (at least , this is what I believe)
Honestly, I love my HomePod mini. It is a perfect size with awesome sound, before getting it after my birthday I pondered on it for quite a while on if I was going to get the OG HomePod or the HomePod mini and in the end I decided to get the HomePod mini because of it’s cheaper price tag which was an awesome choice. Anyways, not even a week after I ordered my HomePod mini they discontinued the OG HomePod. Very ironic I must say.
My HomePod Biggie bricked because of an update too. (Possibly the same update) I called Apple explained my situation and they just replaced it no questions asked, no warranty, no AppleCare+. The rep said and a quote “we have a warehouse of these saved for cases like this. So yours bricked because of what Apple did and you just shrugged your shoulders and said “oh well”?!?
Also Original HomePod works as hub for homekit when you are away from home and the sounds is on another level! Only 2 things are better on the mini; the colors (if you are interested in) and thread (if the support of matter protocol will take over. Now there are only just a few accessories that work with it)
I just bought a blue & orange one this week & I absolutely LOVE them! I didn’t have the original Home Pod, I hate that I missed out on that. I didn’t know they quit selling them, until I watched your video. That’s kind of sad 😢
I love the HomePod minis. I've never listened to an original HomePod though. I use mine in a stereo pair for my Apple TV. For a lot of movies it was lacking that low end, which is a given because of their small form factor. So I got a klipsch 10 inch sub and connected it to an airport express second generation, added it in there with the HomePods and it helped tremendously.
I’m seriously considering buying one. I didn’t know this existed until yesterday. I have the Echo, but honestly I don’t like Amazon’s electronics, and being we have IPhones and an IPad in the house would make this more functional to us vs. the echo
@@javtimestwo if you have a device that supports HDR content then you can enjoy this video even better than usual, the colors really pop out and gives you a great experience. 😍

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Thanks for that great update Miles; recently purchased two minis that I use in stereo pair but didn’t realize that there were so many cool things that you could do with them. Thanks again!👍
I own 2 Home Pods and 1 Home Pod Mini. The mini is OK for its size but I have no intention of buying another one. It sounds pretty good but It just doesn’t compare to the Home Pod. I would like an updated Home Pod. Now that the mini is out and selling well I think an updated Home Pod 2 or whatever they decide to call it would sell better now that the public is more familiar with these things. They could probably price it at $250 - $280 and at least break even. The real benefit will be a reason to purchase apple services like Music, plus these nice sounding speakers are just one more reason to stay in the Apple ecosystem.
The original homepod has super clean soft sound only problem are the highs and the overall tuning because many detail gets lost and the bass is way to prominant Also a 3 d soundstage would have been the best evening out
First Jeff we missed you, second I'm watching on the new M1 Maxbook and wow your HDR is blowing some serious light through my skull. Great review as always.
They should make a HomePod subwoofer that we could pair to a single mini or a stereo pair. As far as the colors the white tops on the colored speakers looks bad to me. I just went with all black
Did you test handoff with an iPhone? I tried to buy one of these with a home family setup and handoff was shaky at best. It would work for me, but not for others. Startup was slow and not immediately available for handoff, as you don't know its boot state. And for others hand-off would just sit there. Not sure if we had too many devices in the same room but because of that the device had to go back. It was my hopeful resolution to an aging and dying ipod touch. Let me know
I bought two original Homepods years ago and they still stay in boxes. I used them like once or twice... I still like the old design better though, very powerful sound. I hope they have better colors too.
Hey Jeff, I just purchased four of these with the intention of connecting two each to my iMac, TV, and then one each in two bedrooms. I watch a lot of RUclips Videos like this one and the audio is only coming out of one Mini. Is this normal? No stereo?
I bought two HomePod mini, February 2022. Set up both on my iPhone 13, iOS 15.5 version. Both doing fine. Around 15/4/22 one of my HomePod mini STOPED SPEAKERS. Then a reset, but after I CANT Setup, message “Failed (-6753)”. I’ve tried everything: reset factory HomePod mini, reset with my iPhone, reset with MacBook Pro 2018, and downgrade to iOS 15.4.1. HomePod mini version SO is 15.4.1. The other HomePod mini still working very fine. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE?
Hi, finale got my set. Apple decided not to see them in Holland, Belgium and Luxemburg. So were stuck with a English Siri :-) And NO help from them :-( I have a problem with Siri, she/he speaks so soft that I nearly have tp put my ear on the speakers yo hear her/him. When I put the sound up, only the music will go louder, not Siri? You happend to know how I get the volume of the Siri voice higher? Would be grateful :-)
I feel like since there’s gonna be software updates to the original HomePod and the mini I won’t consider OG HomePod dead or discontinued plus as long as it can update it’s software its still usable
The speakers do look and sound cool, I just wished they were Bluetooth instead of Apple's horrible AirPlay. I'm a long time Apple user, I remember when AirPlay first came out in 2003. The music would cut out 3-5 times a day. Fast forward to 2020, I'm locked in my apartment, I'm hearing nothing buy good things about the Homepods, so I bought a HomePod (real cheap after they stopped selling them) and a Mini. 19 years later and the music still cuts out 3-5 times a day. Doesn't matter if it's Spotify or Apple music. I want to scream, I'm nerever buying an AirPlay device ever again.
The shallow depth of field is so overused in this video that it becomes so distracting specially on an HDR setup. I think it’s better to widen dof next time
Wait.... your original HomePod died due to Apple's fault? They bricked your speaker during a software update? I'd be MAD in your position. Is this what happened?
The colors are cool and the style is nice but I don't see any reason to have this myself. Plus, why give anybody more opportunities to "spy" without my knowledge. Sometimes too much tech is not a positive-Just sayin!
I'm sorry, 100 bucks is by no means 'wallet-friendly'. Imo 50 bucks would be more reasonable and the respective max should have had a better competitive price in the smart speaker market, but I can't justify double the price for something just because it's "smart".
