We meet Aaron Draplin at his day job as a designer at his studio, Draplin Design Company in Portland, Oregon. The tour quickly devolves into a discussion of his vast collections of well-organized junk, and includes a trip to an estate sale where Aaron picks up an ancient bag of peanut butter chips.

The excitement he shows about the smallest detail and the simplest design is beautiful.
I love that every time he saw something that had this fascinating story behind it he would just "hoo." Then jump right into the backstory.
Alex Byrd psst... totally - my favorite part!
Too bad the camera crew was so amateur and most detail was missed.
I swear im in love with this guy. His personality is so infectious
+DunKnoThaMySpace Me to!!!
Linn Andersen haha
Aaron Draplin is my new hero. I was trained by a graphic designer who could be his doppleganger.
You had to bring him a specific kind of beer to get his attention. Quirky. Awesome. Fantastic. Badass.
But Aaron - look at that energy! That design aesthetic! That beard! That dude is magic...
Love this guy... his love of logos knows no bounds!!!!!
This is how every designer should be. You can tell he just simply just loves design, its inspiring.
This guy is amazing! The passion and fire in his eyes and moves when he talks about the things he loves inspires and makes me stand up and do something I love and admire.
I love coming across designers I never knew before. He seems awesome.
***** right? his point of view is totally fleek.
+AdamTheGeek sorry man. caught me in a non-caffeinated moment.
@@vans 😂that fact that you came back. "Whew I seem angry. must've missed my coffee"
Is there an uncut version of this somewhere? I want to hear all about the matchbook collection and tape measures. C'mon!
couldn't say for sure, but I'll pass on the feedback. y'know - one matchbook collector to another?
Yes! I would love to see like a full uncut version. Could listen to this guy talk all day.
@@vans 5 years later and still waiting for that feedback T_T
@@vans don't make witty retorts you can't land
I understand you when you say ooooooooohhhhhh it's like gold baby
Can relate...I was inspired to become a designer from the logos on 18 wheeler trailers on road trips in my youth
Draplin is a great character - loved this little glimpse into his life.
he's enthused by the simplest of designs....
that’s what graphic design is about: simplified reduction
This guy is awesome, totally made my day.
As an Artist, I get it. My husband sent this to me. He has learned to leave with me mess. Stored nicely, but yes, this is me. I have taken over EVERY room in the house with something.
His reaction from seeing logos tho. Priceless!!
What a beautiful video and man. The craziest part about watching this was I felt like I was watching myself!!! Especially the freaking matchbook UGH
This guy is a madman! I love it! Just found out about him on Marc Maron's podcast. Cool video, thanksya
i love how he admires other people's work it makes him really humble
This guy really loves what he does, keep it up bro
This is bomb! Great work and worthy sharing.
Thats what passion sounds like.
This guy is too real.
This guy is soooo passionate about logos
I don't know this guy but he's on a good level and has a funny personality.
Man, this is brilliant. I want to be his friend and nerd out over design with him.
The camera guy is so out of tune here. Draplin is loving and trying to show every little detail and the cameraman just can't snap out (even for a second!) of his fixation with pointing at Aaron's face. Such a shame.
Just realized I have a patch he designed from Seattle flat stock last year. Love it so much, no idea it was him.
it's 2019 and I've just found this guy ! WOW.............................this guy gets it and I've just bought his book 'Pretty Much Everything' off Amazon *****
really wonderful
He is obsessed 😍.That's what makes so.eone super successful
Fucking love when he gets excited about his logos collection. Nice guy
Man you are really interesting, as a junior designer I am freely inspired.
love sir aron draplin
J'adore et je le comprends tellement sur le point de logo minimaliste. C'est simple beau facile a comprendre avec peu de couleur. Ouf
love this shit, love this guy
how can u not like this guy
Awesome
He's so cool!
Sup with the grunts and almost orgasmic sounds when he pulls an awesome design..oh wait nevermind, I make the same noises when I find an awesome LP in bargain bin..ha ha ha!
The price of junk just went up...
Just kidding man, awesome dude, awesome collection.
lol love this guy ¿Really!!
He is my new design idol! Fucking love this guy!
lol @ 3:05 my boy is passionate about his craft.. lol
He's sooooo cooooollll!! But I wish the camera man would have given us a better look at what he was trying to show us.
This is inspiring as fuck
A Aron!
a a ron balakay
hahaha i love this guy

Vice should give him some cover!
Part 2?
does he have a youtube channel??
i can't find any
I wonder... what are the names of the fonts on 1:27 ?
This guy is the kevin smith of graphic design.
I'd love to join your crew... I think we have the same passion.
This guy
I've had the same kind of arrogant 'tattoo guy' experience. trying to get my own work realized.
Man you should be an actor
Watched this 2 times
1st time it was like: WOW! this guy is so SINCERE!
2nd: WOW! How can you FAKE emotions so GOOD!
Interesting.. Consumption of others' media, re configuring to appeal to a new market/audience and gaining profit/accolades from these actions.
Can this guy be my mentor please
okay.
Calling Mr. Draplin a hoarder certainly isn't fair. If your "hoard" is categorized in meticulously organized drawers, you're at least called an enthusiast.
goddam "scientific pricing" mfking yoinx & tytyty
666 designs! Hail Satan!!
i notice that lot of designs symblizes satan and illuminati
Great talent in Aaron Draplin. Terrible filmmaking, sound, color and storytelling by whomever the creator.
