This is a great video of the dawn of global exploration and the fate of the Philippine Islands. Can you also create a video that discusses more about Portuguese’s relationship with the Philippines prior to the archipelago being totally colonized by Spain?
the Spanish sailor and explorer Juan Sebastian El Cano was the discoverer of the Filipines and first to circumnavigate the world! My Respect to Spain ❤🇪🇸
Historian William Henry Scott once said, “Perhaps the discovery of the Philippines was made in Malacca.” Kindly read: “The Suma Oriental of Tome Pires” on how the Portuguese encountered the Luzones Dirajas in the Sultanate of Malacca much earlier than when Magellan sailed westward from Spain.
Not entirely true, The Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan initiated the first circumnavigation of the world, but after his death in the Philippines, Spanish sailor and explorer Juan Sebastián Elcano completed the journey. However, neither Magellan nor Elcano discovered the Philippines, as the archipelago was already known and inhabited. In theory the Philippines were encountered by Europeans during Magellan's expedition but keep in mind there is evidence that the Portuguese were already there one or two centuries before. There is also evidence they were the first Europeans to reach Australia and not the british
