My sister and brother that live out of state and convinced my elderly mother to disinherit me. My wife and I watch over her and live in the same city. My mother was having difficulty driving her car and damaged her car while backing out of the driveway. I notified the department of motor vehicles to have her examined for her safety and for the motoring public. She was given a written exam and failed twice and her driver’s license suspended. My mother was upset with me but refused to sign the notice that her driver’s license was suspended. She crashed into the front lawn of a residence and was stopped by a block wall. My brother and sister blamed me and convinced my elderly mother that it was my fault. She recently filed and family trust and placed her million dollar residence in the trust. I accidentally learned of this secret family trust when I conducted a records search on my mom’s house and saw that the family trust was recorded with county records for real estate. I was told by my mother she did not add me into her family trust because I was responsible for her losing her driver’s license.
I was in a similar situation. I took care of my mother's needs, drove her where she needed to go, etc. One of my sisters married a rich guy and moved to Dubai and my other sister was abusive to our mother. In the end, my mother left the house to my rich sister and everything else to my abusive sister. I got a vase. LOL, you really just gotta laugh about the insanity of it all.
Thank you for another highly informative video. My wife and I do not have children but we have six nephews and nieces. We want to share our assets with four of these relatives and, equally important, we do not want to share assets with two of them. Presently our wills assign assets to four of them and say nothing about the other two. If you have any advice on other things we should do to make sure our intentions are followed I’d much appreciate hearing it. Or, in case I’ve missed them, please refer me to videos you’ve made that cover our specific situation (i.e., no children of our own but a subset of deserving nieces and nephews). - Thank you and happy holidays!
I would hate to have your job and have to deal with rock-bottom parents like this. My parents would NEVER leave me out of their inheritance. I can't imagine how awful it would be to have a parent that would, and if the child has problems, it's no wonder.
Should be a law that all is split equally unless the parent notified the excluded child by certified mail through a lawyer that things wouldn’t be equal
Good suggestion about treating all children equally in the trust and leave other assets to the children who may be given more!

The reason my brother tried, as the successor trustee for my dad, to exclude me from my dads trust? “she’s unfit”. Cost me 20k to inherit.
@@AlexShantyOldLawModel what are you saying? Please clarify?
