    The Luxury Pergola already sells a DIY Pergola at a premium over many of the competitors. Mirador out of China offers one such pergola at a low price. The question is: How does it go together? What do you get for that price? We compare ours to theirs and walk through the general completion of the build. We explain some of the nuances in the louvered pergola industry.

    Of course your product Is Better and the quality Is totally different. But not everybody can spent 10.000 for a pergola. Sometime it's needed a compromise.
    It's like compare Ferrari (your product ) with a FIAT (popular economic car here in Italy) . Obviously i prefer a good quality pergola but the face Is that not everybody can't afford It.
    P.s.

      There are always compromises on products. On this, I planned to show what the differential is to help explain where the cost of both units come from. The Mirador product is popular for a reason, but we hoped to explain the compromises more succinctly to help provide some of the information that can be glossed over, like how the louvers need to be removed over 62 mph wind loads or in snow.

      @@theluxurypergola nah, felt like you wanted to beat your chest about how much better your product is,
      this turned me off about your product and brand and I was actually considering you for my pergola purchase next month.
      heres an equation that might help you in the future, VALUE = AFFORDABILITY X BUILD QUALITY + FEATURE SET
      so unless youre going to provide a pergola with your "build quality" with the price of or close to a mirador pergola, then you're not providing value at all and videos like this make you come off as arrogant and better than.

    The good the bad and the ugly. There is a huge price gap from 1.4 mm to 3 mm aluminum thickness. I was quoting a 10' x 20' pergola here in the States with 6" x 6" x 3mm posts and 11" x 4" x 2.5 mm beams and the cost was impossible. Near 18K. Of course you can't compare 2.9K vs 18K. It's a huge gap.

The pergola roof has 2 by 2 slats separated 2-inches. Do you have a replacement for this type of design so we don't have to deal with posts on the house side?

    • @theluxurypergola

      Hello! Pavers are installed as stone resting on gravel/sand, so it won't provide any structual strength to wind or snowloads. You can reach out to us and we can talk through how to get concrete in that area to allow you to attach the pergola to something with some structure.

    • @theluxurypergola
      @theluxurypergola  Год назад +1

      Good question. We haven't seen one in person. From what we can tell, it looks like it's made of sheet steel that's been powder coated. That means it will rust given time. Downsides will be that it doesn't keep water out, water sits on top of the fabric if it has the fabric and can cave in, and the way it anchors down looks like it won't handle racking wind load very well. Seems like most of the powder coated steel products for around $2,000 at Home Depot or Lowes. Large widths look like they're spliced on the header as well, which instantly reduces span strength. Cheaper to ship, but hurts load capacity, which is why we don't do that.

  • @tomthompson4709
    @tomthompson4709 10 месяцев назад +3

    Just remember any structure that is designed to be a roof system with a load or wind requirement has to be permitted by your local building department. This will require engineering with wet stamp, proper in ground support structure per code to hold cover in place and several inspections from building authorities. The Costco structure although functional out of the box, will probably fail in time if not from it's inadequate design and material, but from the recurring natural events which take a toll on everything over time. You are best to spend your money the for a louver cover that exceeds code requirements and is built by professional installers. Take if from a person who has installed thousands of louver covers in the Western USA, the Costco Louver Cover does not meet any engineering requirements in the USA and is a waste of money.
