I'm sure everyone was excited for this. As far as the last trilogy goes, I like Rise and War and love Dawn but I find the entire franchise as a whole to be super interesting.
To put it simply: this is a good continuation. Well directed, looks great, pays tribute to Caesar in a nice way while also introducing some solid new characters. Raka was my favourite.
I thought it could've been a little better on a story level. It also lacked the same emotional punch of the previous trilogy. I don't want another remake/retelling of the 1968 original but I do at least like that in the timeline it seems like we are slowly getting closer to that movie.
I do agree that they purposely let some thing unresolved for further sequels, and as for the emotional punch i guess it's tough to match the original trilogy since we already attached to caesar's character and it took time for us to grow attached to the new ape noa, and yes i think they definitely retelling the original planet of the apes story in the future but i imagine it's gonna be a bigger story like an endgame to the franchise

Not really we don't really know how avatar is going to end and tbh for me i'm not that interested on how the character in avatar would progress, at least for planet of the apes there is a much clearer directions for the story and the character
