Yusuke ... I did Shotokan Karate for over 15 years, not only gave me physical strength but mental strength also. My pain threshold increased massively and I also became a better person.
Thank you for your amazing videos.
Shotokan was the first Martial Art I learned, also taught my Wife at one point, she was the victim of an assault before I met her, she's lethal now. Thank you, this video brings back memories, I was about 15 when I started training.
i think you are the only authentic Karate Japanese sensei that can speak fluent English in RUclips. That's why you can communicate very effectively
What's your guess on the characteristics of Shotokan Karate?
Non-telegraphic techniques. We tend to perfect our techniques to a level where your opponent can't predict your attack.
Sure, you can hit from further away.. but that is also possible in other styles. Wado has a higher stance, but if you do surikomi or another form of quick moving, it is also possible. Every style has positives and negatives I guess... it’s all Karate and that is what binds us all! ☺️
Direct and to the point in self defense.
Good and motivational video for every karate player who is new.thanks for video.
Very nice!!!
personally, I feel long deep stances are great for developing leg strength and ankle flexibility however for self defense or kumite, shorter stances may be more practical. All styles have strengths and weaknesses, it depends on context
Totally agree! It also depends on the person's body.
Thanks for the info I come from a goju ryu school that shut down I was thinking about joining a shotokan school
Awesome. Looking forward to the series. OSU.
awsome video
Very informative video. I am looking to getting back to finishing my training so that I can become a black belt. This is a good start!
Sensei Yusuke, thanks for this. If you have time could you please expound on the 5 Dojo kun of Shotokan Karate, I think that will be very interesting. Thank you, and as always you look good 😎👌🏽
Nice videos bro
In a future video, please consider maai and closing the distance with speed/quickness. I'm impressed with Naka Sensei's ability to move within striking distance before the opponent can react, e.g., Kuro Obi movie.
Hi Yusuke! Thank you for demonstrating the principles of shotokan, such a cool idea! The drill video through isn"t showing on the screan!
My mistake! I've set a card guiding you to this link, so please check it out when you have time! ruclips.net/video/zcMU0eFJOVs/видео.html
Great! Thanks a lot again!
It's good that you brought up about stances being too deep and why.
Personally I like Shotokan. But I think it is less than perfect. So I guess all Ryu have their strengths & weaknesses.
Using the longer stances as an example, in some schools their leg & arm are able to move together for a powerful tsuki waza. Whereas in Shotokan we hold onto our tsuki waza until the leg & hand can be coordinated near the end of the step. This means we don't commence with a punch but rather 'fudge' the move by stepping without actually initially doing anything with the hand.
I d like to know all techniques, differences etc in karate.
Oh yes... Bent knee... Arguably the biggest pain point for newcomers and oldies alike... Let's do it (train it) while we still can. 😁😅✌🏼️👊🏼
I'm really sad that you didn't complete this series 😢
What do you think of Shotokai? I heard is the same root.
Arent short stances better for self defence and easy to move
I think it all depends on the person!
Practice drill video not showing
Practice drill video is missing

but the moving is mich slower.
I always don't prefer extremeties. I fiind bending your needs to the extreme is not a good choice because it restricts your flexibility and ability to move freely due to a hight pressure on the knees. I prefer a shorter distance with a hight flexibility.
This position might work in Katas but i think it will not be practicle in real fights.
Good points, however I can't see video. There's a black box with "Practice Drill" in white lettering. When I click on it, nothing happens.

@@KarateDojowaKu Thank you, good drills in that video!
you don't understand what dynamic means-your positions are stiff, rigid and stable, but very immobile-so they are the opposite of dynamic.
