@Sam scaria You are right. We should learn syriac. In aided schools under changanassery diocese preffered second language is syriac for higher secondary and it is appreciable. But in schools of most of the other dioceses that is sanskrit. In Sunday school also we are not having the chance to learn syriac. Our bishops and church leaders are forcefully ignoring the holy language. If this situation continues this heritage would remain only in history.
Bro nammal thanne initiative eduth padikkanam. There are many priests who have started using the Syriac language again in our church. Right now Syriac is taught in few institutions by Syro Malabar church. ruclips.net/video/sbNZDym0SAI/видео.html - Ee link use cheyth basics padikkam. syro malabar church should start an university for syriac , then bring teachers from syria or iraq to train our father and laity so that they may be able to speak it with out malayalam influence , hence preserve the beauty of the language jesus spoke
Excellent idea. I would recommend bringing professors from the university in Maloola, Syria. They preserve the actual Aramaic language of Jesus (Galilean Aramaic, we use Syriac Aramaic). The East Syriac Aramaic in Syro Malabar church shares a common pronunciation as that of the actual Galilean Aramaic.
@Alvin P P We don't learn our history at all. St thomas came to kerala and converted few brahmins. Then it directly jumps to Coonan Cross! Is that our history? I learnt most of it from the Internet. Legends behind Pesaha etc! Why can't our church teach us these!
Bring back our Suriyani language. Give us back our identity.

First Syro-Malabar should teach Syriac at catechism.
Useless history is taught instead of true treasure.
