Perfect, natural, God given technique. Musically and beautifully composed. Henry Adler told me Buddy came to him when he was a teenager, “there’s nothing I could show him…!” For many reasons, “The Worlds Greatest Drummer”!
This solo's ending is one of those moments when all the drummers in the audience just get hysterical, because they can't believe what they're hearing and seeing. Thanks for posting this!
Into the World enters the King of Drummers. This reminds me of Super Man when they start the very beginning of the show. Very much appreciate hearing this dynamic over whelming drumming . thank you for posting this gem.
Thank you for posting. The audio track on your copy sounds better than mine, so I will put a note on my post for viewers to check out yours also. I miss Buddy Rich more than I can say.
I always bristle when I hear someone talk about him back in the 60's "when he was in his prime". Evidently, they never saw any of his videos in the 80's.
What a killer snare..Slingerland Radio King..no wonder he loved it. Pity he didn’t use it during his Fibes time...it might have kept Slingerland happy.
especially when Don Osborne showed up at the Plugged Nickel and saw the Fibes snare on stage after he gave Buddy the biggest endorser contract in the industry!
Those are the radio kings that were gifted to Buddy by the president of the Eames drum Co. He played them for about the last 5 years or so of his life. So, anyone who says he slowed down as he got older... send em here.
I've noticed that when performing his solos, Buddy would have his head turned to the left (looking at his bandmates, perhaps). Anyway, I tried that. It didn't make me a better drummer, however.
He ALWAYS made the crowd go wild.
Beyond belief. He did one thing better than everyone else in the world.

Tearing it up with ease. Amazingly ultra fast rolls. Great clip.

Could not agree more.....simply super human .....and to make it even more outrageous at 67 years of age!

I would love to have someone put the drumometer on this snare drum solo. It would explode , like my head just did. Buddy Rich = One scary man !!!

This solo is proof that Buddy just got better with age!

Winning WFD would have been piece of cake for Buddy, this video proves it.

Yep, just as I thought. Really slowed down in his 60's. HA!

ive seen other drummers do it, i think it might be a natural thing some drummers do when they're doing their thing on the drums.
Is there a link to the whole concert?
Incredible
WOW!!
So, Barrett Deems claimed to be faster than Buddy Rich. Quick...someone play me the tape.
This is inhuman
