they shouldve just called it double kill, its just 2xko but if it was named by a normal person and not elon musk. also double kill is a league phrase so it makes sense (not my idea i saw someone in a twitter reply suggest this)

@@punkypony5165 i'm still calling twitter twitter, i'm getting used to seeing the name x, still calling it twitter. 2xko may not be as bad cause one was a brand for years and it has been an iconic brand, but project l just looks right compared to 2xko. like i'm listening to how it's pronounced and i'm like "it's not as bad as i thought" but project l just looks better. and then i saw other people suggestions, they look better.

The single worst thing you can do creatively is making/having a bad name especially for something important. Names are unironically so important very underrated, names are something that you need to remember if you have something great but it has a terrible name (and not like bad terrible just terrible terrible) or a forgettable name then how will you show or tell people how cool your project is.
2XKO = EKKO
Not entirely true because there’s multiple projects that has terrible names yet is loved by their perspective fans.

Street Fighter is a pretty lame name if you look at it objectively but it doesn't hurt it.

I mean, from the list of official Riot gamed we've had:
• Legends of Runeterra (The card game)
• League of Legends (The MOBA)
• Valorant (The shooter)
It feels odd to have something this… short and uninspired, like, "It's a game where you KO people, so it should be on the title right?".
I'd be way cooler to have it continue the "legends" trend, or at least have it be more impactuful, like, "Fighting Legends" (A bit generic, I know, but much more interesting)

@@LeDanc I'm so confused. Has it not been Two KO / Double KO the whole time? I've assumed thats how it was supposed to be pronounced it wouldn't be Two-Ex KO because in most titles you don't pronounce the X ("Hunter x Hunter" or "Spy x Family") why would it ever be Two-Ex KO. Did they announe it pronounced like that?
@Mudkipz-nb4tf they're literally having to make posts "its pronounced two x k o" which is dumb, the "double ko" is not advertised just a less inconvenient way to say the game's name
The more people say another way, the more the new way becomes the canonical name
@@LeDanc well Tom Cannon (Executive Producer of the game) said that he personally says how it's written however players can say it the way they want to, it's up to the players to say it how they want to.
The problem with that tho, it's that a player can call it something and other player call it something else and that will eventually get confusing

@@deviljinmishima brother they're making a fighting game from scratch. when sequels like tekken 8 are developed, its way easier since they already have the concept of the game down and a code base to work off of. it took them a while to even iron out the concept of the project l. can you even think of the last big fighting game that came out that wasnt a sequel? i cant.

with the way the name is weird is seems they don't want to be fixed on league stuff as much, cuz I don't know why they couldn't even call it " League Fight " or " League Fighters " except those names could've been taken by games on the app store.
I get that they wanted to go for an original name, but it also sounds so random that it just doesn't sound right. I think the name "Arena of Legends" would be so much better.

It’s a tag team game and I don’t know anything about the gameplay but I’m assuming that both player get individual heath bars. So you’d have to K.O twice to win (probably)

"2XKO" has "meddling executive" written all over it, you know some suit went "we need a three or four letter name that's easy to remember and say no matter what language the player speaks, that'll rake in the money; clearly that's why LoL makes money". That being said, I'd rather the name be hot garbage than the gameplay, and so far it looks really good.

@@nylana4552 Yeah, I doubt any actual testing was done which seems to be par for the course when it comes to executive decisions. Whoever called for the name change probably justified it as "it's only 4 letters, it couldn't POSSIBLY be difficult for anyone". The same person probably also thought (most) people would like the name.
And for what it's worth, 2XKO doesn't exactly roll off the tongue for the speakers of any language imo. It's verbally clunky.

Since the name is 2XKO, they should make the name sound like TWICE KO, since it's a 2x2 Tag Tournament, and make the sets FT2, where the winners needs to KO the opponents TWICE to win the match.

Why not just go with Double Legend Showdown? Rolls off the tongue better and you have DLS as an anaocronym for it and plays into legends fighting each other 2v2 style.

As a game that's based on the lore and characters of the moba they should incorporate 'League' or 'Legends' into the name. This would help to nodge people over to the moba and moba players to the fighting game. But as is it stands it sounds like two completely separate IPs.

Please just give it time. We've been used to the in-progress name for 5+ years, and now change has occurred. Any name would feel wrong. Same thing happened with 'Project A' (Valorant), people hated the name, and here we are. Please just give it time, 2KO rolls off the togue, 2X rolls off the tongue, the names fine imo
