They tried 155 gun because it was meant to be a breakthrough tank so they were concerned with anti-infantry and anti-fortification capability. They didn't adopt because it is trash as an anti-tank gun. If infantry or fortifications are ever added to game the T30 will be decent, as long as tanks are the only targets T29 is much better.
Toby Nelson the t29s aphe is disappointing, it feels as if the tiger/jagdpanthers 8.8s have more explosive mass than your 105mm gun because the tnt in their shells don’t get stuck in literally every module and crew member

Time slows down as the shell's about to make impact with the IS-6's armor, allowing the round to briefly yell "MR. GORBACHEV, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL!" Through fear of economic sanctions and international backlash, the armor cracks for a split second, allowing the munition to pass through with ease.
Dont use the APCBC shell it has trouble with angle like all other APCBC shells. Stick to the APBC shell it will fail less on angles.

@Reaps51 Isu 152 is still a beast tho with enough armour to stop German 75 and American 76 and a HEAT round with 250mm of pen (enough to pen King tiger frontally) with 6 kg of explosive mass so even if you don't pen you will fuck up the cannon barrel and tracks. Also the round has comparable velocity to the sherman making sniping easy with practice. It's a great vehicle to compliment the already great 5.3 lineup Russians get.

T30 was the fire support vehicle to the T29, it had the same role as the Sherman 105 had to the Sherman 76. Its AP performance was not really considered. And Gaijin didn't create a fantasy APCR round for the 155 like WG did. The APC/APCBC rounds were courtesy of the Coast Artillery who had those rounds made for the 155mm Gun M1 which they used as semi-mobile anti-ship artillery. Anti ship rounds have to have HE fillers, solid shot is not very effective against ships wither their multiple compartments unlike tanks.

The rivets are probably for the canvas cover for the gun mantlet. Keeps dust and debris from getting in!

Note about the model differences. The T29 and T30 used the same style of mantlet since they were parallel designs which used the same turret. Both of those were dropped in favor of the T34 which used a new turret design and a better all-around cannon.

It's T29:Electric Boogaloo, where it's objectively better than the techtree counterpart in some way but placed at the same BR because lmao premium. Can't say I'm a fan of having another limited time event where the reward is functionally going to turn it's bracket of matchmaking into a complete joke like the IS7 does. Also note how it's specifically JUST low enough so that they can't interact with one another in optimal situations as well despite possibly being a able to counter eachother.

T95 the medium tank series was another design that they just did the "ADD A BIGGER GUN" philosophy. It was designed with 90's, 105's, 120, and the ever so famous L7.
You are using the wrong round. Test all the rounds out on tank polygon and you'll see the APCBC round (stock round) is actually significantly better than the other one. It is less bouncy... just shoot at the T64A hull amd you'll see the difference.
You mean the APBC round, the APCBC round bounces more. Just try the armor protection analysis on an IS-6 and compare the rounds with a simulated shot
Hey Phly in answer to your question: The "Rivets" your seeing on this and other tank turrets behind the gun mantlet are in actually mounting points for a "Canvas Cover" that shields the gap between the turret and mantlet from rain and weather entering in to the turret through the gap.
Phly forgot to say. Play that damn Centauro. It's so overpowered and have bugged damage model. Ammo wont detonate and tank is so empty you need to shoot him like 5 times with APDS or HEATFS

@@2by4podcast70 T34 russian or American? It's probably easier with russian because low pen and different fuze. It happenes if you are lucky, but most of time you need 3-5 shots. Once 2 tanks pumped 8 shots into him.

Denis Rizzardo yeah same here. I’ve had them survive hits from my FV4005 and AVRE HESH . The thing is beyond bugged and bias.
TLDR: the longer the gun, the more heat resistance is needed making the HE shell bigger causing less pen.
The reason why the Germans and Russian 150mm guns (yes I know the M-10 is a 152mm) have higher penetration rates is because the barrel is shorter. Let's take the jumbo for an example. The M3(gun) Jumbo has a gun designed as such because if the barrel was longer, the HE shell would explode within the barrel. So the barrel was kept short so the HE would not blow up. The M1 Jumbo, while having a bigger diameter of 76mm, has a longer barrel which means the HE has to be more heat resistant which calls for less penetration. (This is based on what I think goes on here) The sides of the HE shell is thickened to withstand the heat generated from friction while the rest is the same thickness. But with a shorter barrel, the HE shell doesnt need much heat resistance because theres a shorter travel time which means a shorter friction time. The T30, while having a larger gun, the T7 155mm gun, is way longer than the KV's M-10 gun and the Sturmpanzer's 15cm sIG 33 gun which means that the T30's HE needs a lot of heat resistance compared to the sIG 33 and the M-10.

Actually Phly, you mention at the end that the HE might have some issues with better armored tanks from the side but, a shot into the road wheels will often result in an ammo rack, no matter the kind of tank. I don't know if it's some sort of top secret US ammo seeking tech but fuck, it works

The reason the T29 and T30 have rivets while the T34 does not is because of when they were developed. The 155mm of the T30 was powerful but cumbersome and offered little in performance gains over the 120mm cannon.
Yeah i swear that Vietnam map or what ever the new map is called is heavily bias towards the american side especially toward the side of the town.
nah ive wrecked on both sides, just depends on how you approach and how fast you can safely get into positions
@@Merajito20kI have won in that map as well but only 2 time out of like 10, while in all other maps it's like 4 out of 10 on average. the problem is the speed. As a german only player the tanks in 6.3 are not fast enough to get to the cap first and on the side of c you have to go around the river while the enemy doesn't. So while I'm still trying to cross the river the enemy is already done capturing that spot then they have enough time to get into the town and wait for ppl to come. Not to mention a giant fucking hill where they can shoot across the map close to our spawn on the side of c cap, although it seems like it's ineffective for the most part.
It is biased. One spawn side can get up to this hill where they can see everything. Other side can't because there is a river.

Best part is, only difference is it has one less .50 in coax, so its hard for enemy to know which of the 3 it is unless they have good eyes. Almost makes the reload less of a factor because enemies don't know if they should push.

Why does the HE on this thing have more velocity than both AP rounds?
Also why is this thing 6.7? The AP round can not even pen the most spammed tank at 6.7(Tiger 2 H) above 500m and if he loads less ammo the HE will do nothing but kill the driver and transmission.
Jakob Chr. The HE actually has so much splash damage that if it hits effectively anywhere on the tank, it’s a one shot. Ur primary round on this tank should be the HE.
The tank is relatively fast, the turret is amazing in gun diameter, armor, turret traverse and survivability. The hull has some bouncy spots and whenever I play the King Tiger, I don't have any huge advantages over the T34 or T30. I think that the br 6.7 fits these vehicles really well. The Tiger can't one-shot the T34 easily either. It's always a question of gun our driver, if faced with an had on attack. but due to the latest update the King Tiger now stores his ammo in the turret, which is really easy for an AP-shell to detonate after penetrating the mantlet.
@Pumpernickle That’s how it should be, but it’s not. If you hit the front plate, or anywhere where there’s more armor than the listed pen, it won’t do anything. Even hitting the Panther II right below the gun won’t guarantee more than a transmission, driver, radio man K.O.

in my time in the army we once had a big manouver, where some M109s (150mm) shoot live ammo over the heads of my units (armored recon), i was sitting in my APC and saw the grenades hit the already fucked up target tanks ~ 1500m away, and it was CRAZY ... of course that was some HE shells, and the M109 is arty and not a heavy tank ... but yeah, i think everything on the wrong end of the T30 is going to have a really bad (and really short) time after the gunner pushes the trigger.

For weight don't forget the the T34 has an armour plate at the back of the turret giving it about 200mm of thickness back there. T30 doesn't have that so I guess it evened out on the weight right on the nose.

The loader starts off skinny little tanker taking 45 seconds to sling 45kg round, and by ACE he's swoll and throwing around 45kg!
I made the same experience with a tige 1 shot. I just had to move to their flank. But it was super funn.

APBC is much more powerful than APCBC when facing sloped armor. For example, the APBC round can penetrate T-54(1949/51). T-54(1949/51) has only 140mm equivalent thickness of armor for APBC.

I still prefer the KV 2 because of the sound that rings through your whole body providing some of the best satisfaction.
APBC is better than APCBC in general in WT (not IRL). Shell statcard at angles is wrong usually, so don't rely on it. APBC has much better angle modifiers making it able to pen angled armour like anything else. With T30 APBC you can lolpen IS-6 UFP at close range, but with APCBC there's no way to do that.
Phly I just want to point out you keep shooting Idler wheels on the is-2's, Sprockets are the spikey boys that connect to the tracks, and road wheels are what ride on the ground (above the track) The floating ones are just idler wheels

Curiously, the bigger the barrel, the worse it seems to perform (*huehuehue*). T29 carries a brilliant 105mm gun, the T34's 120mm is still great and the T30 seems to be stuck with a 155mm gun that is merely good.
You bounced the shell off the back of the turret from your T34 because it has a reinforced plate that adds a lot of armor to the rear of the turret.
Why do I find it ironic that the largest gun to be introduced into the american lineup is a premium, limited time event vehicle (that we'll probably never see again.). Probably need to finish these last few quests fast

this came during a time where the usa was experimenting with different calibers and it was this tank among others where they found that going over 105mm or 120mm had to many diminishing returns, the germans discovered this too. well I think most did since most nations use 105 or 120mm now even the new Russian armata has a 120 mm, tho they also have a 155mm version but I think its more a multi role kinda thing exception etc etc

This thing is mean, I faced a T-80 and I just fired an HE shell right under it with this beast and it just blew it all to hell.

For a T-29 with a 155mm they've given it a generous turret traverse speed.
The first two T34 were made from a T29 and T30 tank. Probably why you see the rivet/no rivet on the models. Really Gaijin could have used either hull/turret to make the T34 model.

there was no contesting at A because their team went directly for the spawn camp ( spawn camping is the LOWEST form of game play in my book )
every time they changed the sounds in wt it was brilliant for a while then they "fine-tuned" it and it all went back to normal
The APBC is better at dealing with angles than the APCBC, so i always use it and get easy kills on the front of other T30s if i play AB, also it's good for shooting angled tiger turrets
