I flew UA premium plus back from Paris shortly before the pandemic, and I like it. I usually try to fly business class, and did on the red eye flight over but thought I'd give the premium plus a try since west bound is a day time flight, so I ended up spending less than $2000 doing the mixed booking and worked great. As people can see in the video, its not just extra leg room, its actually a wider seat, I'd say similar to a domestic first class seat. The service was good and its a small, nice quiet area. Will fly it again, and same way, business eastbound, premium plus westbound.
Thank you. I have a Houston - Frankfurth in November (Lufthansa) with Business for the night flight and premium economy for the return fligh and I was considering to upgrade to Business , but after your video, I will give a try to the premium economy for the day flight Frankfurth Houston.
Great video mate. I'm in Australia where international travel is banned and has been since March last year, with few exceptions. Videos like yours make lockdown a bit better :D Keep up the good work!
I’m very familiar with Australias situation Michael. Most of my family lives there and we haven’t been able to get back and see them. Hopefully the government will open up the country soon. I’m glad I was able to bring you a taste of international travel Michael!
Thank you for this video post! I'm going to Athens, depart from Chicago to Newark, then Newark to Athens in 10 weeks! I've not been on a plane for more than 4 hours so I'm a bit anxious.
Great review, I really wanted to see about the leg and foot rest, which you covered! Thank you! I love United and their lounges. Sometimes when I don’t like the meal being served, I ask for the snack boxes (Take Off & Tapas). They always accommodate!
Glad you’ve had some nice experience with United, seems like everyone’s eager to rag on them. They can be great at times. Because of their size, US airlines can be hit or miss. Thanks for watching!
Awesome review, Sam! Your content is so informative and also makes me crack up at times 😄. Also, those Olympic themed amenity kits are so cute! I’m willing to give United another try so I could get one of those haha.
I went on premium plus on Ual 58 SFO-FRA on N2846U a beautiful B777-300ER, the meals were great, seats comfortable and some great views. Since I didn’t originally have a window seat I when back in economy class for a few minutes to see the view from an empty seat
Love it love it love it! I vacationed in Thessaloniki in late 2019 and it was my first time outside of Athens metro, which I'd been visiting since 2011. Can't wait to go back! - Red
Looks good, I just booked return flight ZRH - NEW for spring and went Premium Plus for the return, just under 200 CHF more per person for 3 of us which I think is worth it. Will be 2-2-2 config.
I flew on this aircraft in 2019, Amsterdam to Houston, I saw what looked duct tape holding some of the interior together. She was rickety but she got me home safe, crew was great too.
great review - its wild that the premium economy is so far back now literally over the middle of the wing. I remember prior to the retrofit economy plus would be by the engine in front of the wing (with a better view)
Wonderful report but you got to understand that airlines were trying to survive with covic and by the way you sat on top of the wing and that spoiled the scenery cheers jerry
Your footage of Premium on United wasn’t bad… perfectly comfortable and the food offering although nothing special would suffice. You must try Virgin Atlantic to London Premium and another one I’m waiting to try is new IBERIA Premium. Thanks for sharing this great flight on the 777! 👍
If you can believe SeatGuru, which is a big if, nearly every domestic first class seat in the USA has a width of 21". I could not find any that are just 18.5". You said that your seat on the 777 is used by some airlines for domestic F. Who is doing that? Or did you just mean the same type of seat in a different size? I was under the impression that the new international PE seats were similar to domestic F, but it seems they are 2-3 inches narrower.
@@NewYorkAviation They may be using the same type of seat, but not in the same size. According to AA, all F seats in their Airbus fleet measure 21". DL shows 20.5" for the F seats on the 220s. I have not found a single domestic F seat measuring just 18.5".
For premium plus, what seat would you recommend for a couple traveling? Definitely a window seat- but The front row, back row or somewhere in the middle ?
Great review! Mostly good experience it seems. IFE looks awesome. Good seat space too. Looking forwards to trying P+ to/from Europe soon. But wow, that food looked totally lackluster. If that is the same as Polaris Business, what are they thinking? That mid flight "snack" was also a tad underwhelming too. Great overview of your experience. Thanks.
Thanks for watching. Yes, the seat and amenities were great. But the food was really bad for premium economy. I had a family member in Polaris and she said she got the same exact meal. I would be very disappointed if I got that in Polaris.
This just confirms my thoughts to not take UA internationally. I can't believe the slop they served in Polaris. They make all the claims about how wonderful they are and they do improve some things.....it's just that food is NEVER one of them.
Awesome review man, I definitely can see the difference between Premium and regular economy from this vid. You don’t really get to experience the true different in soft product on domestic flights.
This video confirms for me United sucks. I fly Delta frequently and was put on United for a flight to Japan due to IROP. That flight, too, advertise a midflight snack but there was nothing. There was no snacks with drink service either - for a 11 hr flight, we only had two light meals. I have flown over the Pacific nearly every week and United is the only airline left me hungry for a long haul flight and I am not a big eater. It's so pathetic...
That doesn’t sound like much fun. I think UA is alright on this route - just because the competition is Delta Economy Comfort and American Premium Economy. But, if I’m going to Asia or Australia I’m definitely taking the foreign airlines.
I’ve been on a few flights in and out of ATH including a short one to the island of Naxos on an OA Dash 8-100. What time of day did this flight depart?
My wife & I fly Business / Polaris class more for comfort then anything else. We average 16 - 20 international trips a year (pre covid), and I decided to try Premium Plus from San Francisco to Sydney. My wife wasn't as daring and stayed in Business class. I will say that Premium Plus wasn't that bad, but personally - I miss Polaris class, to which I changed back too on the return flight. I'll give Premium Plus a C+... 👊respect👊
That’s great that you were able to travel that much, Steve! Premium was definitely very nice… well, much better than economy. But if I had the option between this and Polaris, I’d be up there with you and your wife in a flash. Thanks for watching.
The Pre arrival meal service looks more like something they should give out on some of their longer domestic routes and short haul international flights (Mexico/central America, Caribbean).
Did they by chance do a hot towel service before meals? I flew delta internationally once in plain economy, and was really surprised to see them passing out scented hot towels for us to wipe our hands with before each meal.
Unless you're whale size and made of money these premium economy offerings have become quite pricey. I'm not sure the value add is there in most cases.
I flew United on a domestic flight in economy once and that will be my last time. Not really impressed. That chicken meal looked like it was slopped together in EWR and flight was double catered so it was quite aged.
Its horrible that americans are allowed to travel to europe and back without quarantining if they are fully vaccinated even though some parts of europe are experiencing a rise in covid cases, but they don't allow europeans to do the same!
We wanted a direct flight from ATH to the US. That would entail flying a US airline. There is an Emirate flight, but the timing didn’t work out with the flight from Syros.
Leg room and seat side aside, there's no benefit to this, United's service is abysmal and flight attendants I feel are hired to harass passengers. Awful experience flying TLV- EWR recently-no food (vegetarian and special meal not honored), no alcohol in the night- as they served "quiche" and a rude Israeli Flight attendant who was offensive!
A glorified dormitory....what happens if you get a passenger next to you, hasn't showered for a week and his Mommy did not do Junior's laundry.....all the way to Newark Airport!!!!
I love the beauty of Greece and the kindness of the people. Could visit every year.
love how you watched life of pie from the passenger in front of you LOL! I’ve done similar things before so I can 100% relate🤣
I didn’t think that I’d watch for too long haha. But ended up watching the whole thing. Thanks for watching, Jayden.
It’s weird
The food is exactly what United serves from Chicago to Europe in coach.

What is wrong with wearing shorts on a plane?

Women, shorts? On a plane? Never. - Working in the garden, okay. Now it's Bermudas, cycling. Capri for a plane quite acceptable.
