I swear, for years I have suggested this movie to Nostalgia Critic and he finally covered it.
Yeah, a ton of kids were lied to. Myself included. I thought the kangaroo was going to talk throughout the movie.
The "First viewing" video Nostalgia Critic did of this is hilarious. They get so drunk and angry at the movie.

Poor Doug and Rob had to get through this immediately after watching Green Lantern, so they were a drunken mess by the very end.

Estella Warren was in Tim Burton’s Planet Of The Apes (2001) with Mark Wahlberg. The only thing that anyone can take away from KJ is that it features Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter 1978) and Michael Shannon (Man Of Steel 2013). Burn in hell Bruckheimer! 🦘🐪💩😡🤬🖕🏻

This movie was the definition of false-advertising. I was promised a movie about a talking-kangaroo; I get Dumb & Dumber in the outback, but less-funny.
Just take your kids to watch Scooby-Doo. You get what you paid for, a talking dog.

He’s not wrong it was originally a gangster comedy called Down and Under. But again after seeing the Snow Dogs advertising they went with this hideousness instead.
Wait really? Jerry O'Connel was Vern in Stand By Me? Wow, talk about a glow-up.
But seriously, I never knew that, I saw that in like Middle or High school and it was like the first pure drama I really liked. Then again, my interest was sparked by the Family Guy parody, because I wasn't the brightest new teen then.
