One of my standout memories from childhood will always be watching classic Tom and Jerry with my Dad and Grandpa... It's something all 3 of us could agree on... and with them getting older and older, i still look back on these shorts as one of the best times of my life.
That's awesome man! Tom and Jerry really does unite generations!
@@Akari-br7ci Yeah it's been around for generations and continues to hold up 😎.
Same here, my paternal grandfather was a hardworking humorless man but he laughed his ass off at Tom & Jerry
I remember watching Tom and Jerry at home with my older sister and at school before it started and during lunch
Fun Fact: The "Don't you believe it" line is a reference to a radio show during WW2
Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner in the sense they are in the same ballpark as Tom and Jerry.
I imagine Roadrunner either being a roommate of his, or a friend/enemy some of the times.
In their case, the iconic sounds aren't any screams. It's the other sound effects, namely the sound of Coyote falling down a cliff, or those beautiful juicy KABOOM's whenever a TNT stick detonates on his face.
Yeah 👍
I was gonna say Rocky and Bullwinkle myself.
My favorite part of Mouse Trouble was when Jerry pokes pins on the box Tom was hiding in. Tom’s screens and Jerry’s reaction after opening the box was freaking hilarious! 😂
Is there a doctor in the house 😂😂😂
I found that episode profoundly disturbing.though I do like the ceiling bit. XD
Tom & Jerry have been the reason why I love animation and drawing. I have never once in day of my life stopped working on my art and animation skills.
I loved Jerry's cousin episode not to mention the 3 musketeers episodes. Not to mention the elephants episodes they've always been fun to watch
Iconic duos for me
Sam and Max, Mike and Sully, Mario and Luigi, Phidias and Ferb, Woody and Buzz, Shaggy and Scooby, Timon and Pumbaa and Lilo and Stich
*Phineas
@@jordanhunter3375don't forget about Agent P and Doofenshmirtz.
@@nickdorenkamp959 very true! I don’t know how I missed them
Shrek and Donkey
I loved the episodes with the duckling. My favorite one is where the mama duck calls on her buff husband to beat up Tom.
🦆There I was minding my own business and this big bully just ran over me with a lawnmower see? And he got smart too!"
"He did?!"
Not a cartoon, but Calvin and Hobbes will always be my favorite comic strip duo, and I believe they beat out any cartoon duo as well.
The mammy two shoes thing, we had her in the UK. As a kid I just saw her as the owner of the house with a cat for a pet.
Yeah, when I heard she was cut in the 60’s I got so confused cause I remember her being used frequently here
Name a more iconic duo? I’ve got a couple:
Scooby and Shaggy
Mario and Luigi
Goku and vegeta
I will say my personal favorite Tom and Jerry cartoon has to be Yankee Doodle Mouse. It was the first cartoon I’ve ever watched and I still have a soft spot for it to this very day. The war esthetic with kitchen utensils and firecrackers is a great concept and it works so well. It also shows the theory that Tom and Jerry were named after the British and Germans
Better yet, Nate, Disshovelled Tom is you coming back inside after three hours shoveling and salting the driveway and sidewalk in the morning, and Jerry is one of your nephews caught smucking about, even though you kindly asked him to help you out whenever he got up hours ago
I think my personal favorite of the ones with Jerry and Tuffy/Nibbles as musketeers is the one where Jerry has a sweetheart and sends Tuffy/Nibbles (I remember him having the name Nibbles in at least one Tom and Jerry short and it's always stuck with me) to take a letter to her, he does but Tom is always trying to fight him as he goes and then he has to take the reply back to Jerry while Jerry NEVER notices that each time he leaves and comes back the poor boy is beat to hell and back. It ends with the girl breaking up with Jerry via note, Jerry getting pissed, pulling out a picture of ANOTHER sweetheart he has, having Tuffy/Nibbles take a note to her and Tom trying to yet again fight him, going "En guard!" 3 times and leaping back to get in his way each time...Tuffy/Nibbles' response? "En guard, En Guard, EN GUARD! Phooey!" and then marching off to deliver the note pissed as all hell and Tom just look at him dumbfounded as he walks into the distance.
Best one!
Tom and Jerry will always be a classic childhood cartoon for me.

Thanks Caleb
Thx Caleb
*Blossom gets Ice Breath*
Buttercup: So what are ya gonna do with it?
Bubbles: I know! I know! Make the floor all ice like in Tom & Jerry! That's my favorite!"
I am a Gen Z, but hands down ... Tom & Jerry take the cake as the most iconic duo. Hell, they are the original duo! (Prove Me Wrong!).
The most iconic duo I can think of?
Batman & Robin
12:00 Muscles Mouse, voiced by Paul Frees, one of the VAs for Toucan Sam and Prof. Ludwig von Drake.
12:30-12:31 the dirty work inc. cat leader, also voiced by Paul Frees.
Don’t forget Boris from Rocky and Bullwinkle
And the voice he’s doing sounds a lot like the ghost host voice he did for the haunted mansion ride at Disney
Ive seen the original tom and jerry episodes it was so funny to watch it as a kid and i wasn't born until 2001 but they played the old ones on a channel called boomerang it showcased old classic cartoons that they didn't play no more on the other cartoon channles
I don't know the name of the episode, but my favorite has to be the one where Tom is trying to woo the girl cat by singing to her and using the cello. I think about the song all the time, the jokes were great, and I love the ending.
Solid Serenade (1946)
0:06
Wile E Coyote and Road Runner
Batman and Robin
Pinky and the Brain
Rita and Runt
Shaggy and Scooby-Doo
Kermit and Fozzy
Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan

Ichabod and Mr Toad
Netflix and Chill
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Death and Taxes

😎
One of my favorite Tom and Jerry episodes is Million Dollar Puss. Not only is it funny, with all the crap Jerry puts Tom through and Tom having to restrain himself. But in my opinion has the funniest ending line to a Tom and Jerry Cartoon. The whole premise is that Tom wins a million dollars but he can't hurt even a mouse. Jerry takes fully advantage and we're waiting for him to crack...when he does it's BEAUTIFUL having to stop mid rant and go "Gee, I'm throwing away a million dollars...BUT I"M HAPPY!" and just goes bananas. It's a very rare Tom W,, the build up is beautiful, and that ending crack is so funny.
Yeah XD
We were all waiting for Tom to finally crack, and that ending perfectly satisfied the anticipation of the wait XD
I definitely like all of his choices in this video but I was very surprised none of the Chuck Jones cartoons of Tom and Jerry were on this list as there are a bunch of great Tom and Jerry cartoons by Chuck Jones that I personally would have liked to have seen on this list. But I will let that slide as all the cartoons he showed slash named were all great cartoons as well
Mario and luigi, jax and daxter, sonic and tails, Its just as iconic as its gonna get
Holy shit finally man of same brain cells Jax an daxter
Ratchet and Clank
Thought he meant cartoon wise.
What’s weird about Mammy Two Shoes is I vividly remember her versions of the cartoons still airing in the U.K. when I was growing up in the 2000’s. So much so I remember vividly an ad Boomerang did where they remixed together different versions of her saying “Thomas, there’s a mouse in the house” with the impact sounds of different scenes of Tom getting injured as the backing track
Nate: Name a more iconic duo.
Me: mario and luigi
Snoopy and Woodstock
Other iconic duos:
Nate & Nick
Shaggy & Scooby-Doo
Cosmo & Wanda
What I always loved about the lion episode is when they first announce that a lion escaped from the traveling circus and could be anywhere, it's Tom's reaction. He races around the house, triple locks the doors, locks the windows, grabs the gun, and barricades himself in a safe location within the house. I mean, funny, yes. But, also absolutely the correct response.
Shaggy and Scooby Doo are one of my favorite iconic cartoon duos of all time!😁👍 (Love the Mario shirt btw Nate.👍)
26:34 nate, i think the billiards one you are refering to i believe is "Cue Ball Cat" THAT one's HILLARIOUS!
29:36 That's such an eye - opening realization. Even when I was young the show was already like 45-50 years old.
I will say my favorite Tom & Jerry moment is the episode of the elephant that nate mentioned but at the end when both the baby and mother elephant looked like mice and Tom pointed the gun at jerry then the baby then this 20 foot 5 tonne mouse jumps out and Tom looses it and runs away yelling like a mad man fucking hilarious.
I like the one with Tom's cousin. The ending is just brilliant.
22:35 I feel the same. If I ever saw someone trying to do that, I'd be in jail for attempted murder. This is why I make sure my fur baby is spoiled rotten and given everything she both needs AND wants!!! And at 16:03, My dear Renegade, I believe that's pretty much EVERYBODY'S face after shoveling snow! 😆😆😆😆
19:14 pretty sure that one is Jerry and Jumbo, not one of my absolute favorites, but I LOVE the whole door opening and closing scene SO much
I love when Jerry, then Jumbo, then his mom jump out dressed as mice and Tom runs off in hysterical laughter.
Who here used to watch tom and jerry when there were growing up
Nostalgia moments
Did you know the voice of knuckles was also the guy who does the haunted mansion ghost host at Disney land? Paul frees and you can really hear it in the knuckles voice
I think the SpongeBob episode "Krabs a la Mode" was inspired by the Tom and Jerry short "Mice Follies", they have too many similarities for that *not* to be the case
That the one where Plankton touches the thermostat and Krabs didn't catch on?
A more iconic duo? Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. The pair did a radio show, a tv show, and a whooping 40 movies together, with a dozen other celebrity actors.
They were memorialized in the Baseball Hall of Fame for their most famous skit "Who's on First?" despite neither being professionally involved in baseball.
So impactful in the genre of comedy they; appeared in early looney tunes, were given homage in talk shows decades later, and still get referenced in movies (like Arrival).
Now of course not every movie was a hit, their early films relied on outside musical talent and their later films reused skits, but there's bound to be one for anybody.
This was a great list by Doug and as of the latest q and a stream (11-23) he said he is still having fatigue and brainfog from the shingles.
“Only to get his head stuck in Jerry’s hole”
The absolute WHIPLASH i experienced looking back at my phone 😂
I don't know if you heard this, but Home Alone has been selected to be preserved at the US Library of Congress by the National Film Registry. That and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Tom and Jerry was a huge highlight of my childhood and it continues to hold up throughout the generations 😎.
Tom & Jerry shorts at one point won an Oscar four years in row, from 1943 to 1946.
Aside from Tom & Jerry my favorite animated duos are Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner, Rick and Morty, Pinky and The Brain, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Snoopy and Woodstock, Ren and Stimpy, Bender and Philip J. Fry, and Eric Cartman and Kyle Broflovski. Honorable mentions would be Brian and Stewie Griffin, SpongeBob and Patrick, Beavis and Butthead, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, and Batman and Robin from BTAS circa 1992-1995.
6:38 Misconception there, Nate. Tom was only called "Jasper" in the first short, "Puss Gets the Boot" [1940]. Starting with the second short, "The Midnight Snack" [1941], that's when the maid called him "Thomas", and it stayed that way for the next 11 years afterwards, until the maid's final appearance in the short, "Push-Button Kitty" [1952]. And as for the redubbed versions made in the 90's by Turner, the redub of Puss Gets the Boot still calls him "Jasper", while in the others, he was called "Thomas", so they didn't change that like you thought they did. The most they did to the original dialogue was change some words to more "proper" English.
Toms face after coming out of the basement is a face of someone who is done with someone’s shit.
I always enjoyed the episodes when Tom and Jerry play musketeer-like roles.
I don't know if this counts as a duo because of, who they are but 1 ironic duo to me is catdog
Oh man this is the pure and funnier comedic cartoon I ever seen in my life.
36:25 unfortunately they did that to the Aunt Jemima and changed it to Pear Milling Company, its very sad.
The years these cartoons listed were released in 1952, 1941, 1947, 1951, 1954, 1950, 1949, 1945, 1947, 1950, and 1944
Tom and Jerry beefed for years without words. It was just on sight. Sure, Wile E Coyote and the Roadrunner did beef, but it was mostly just the coyote and the roadrunner was endured it for the LOL's 😂😂
That one short where Tom calls Butch to deal with Jerry has gotten the best laugh out of my eldest brother, particularly the moment when the wall falls on Butch's fingers after Jerry slams Tom's foot with a hammer. That scream is hilarious
Number 10 is the proof why Tom sometimes felt remorse when was too rough with Jerry, but Jerry never felt the same thing about Tom when the poor guy literally was suffering.
Goku and vegeta, ben 10 and gwen, optimus prima and bumblebee............3h later......Marion and Luigi, Should I go on?
18:43 that'd be the 'Jerry and Jumbo' ep from 1953.
which also has the same title card as the one for 1950's 'Jerry and the Lion'.
im surprised the pool table one wasnt here, that one is one of my favorites
the Most Iconic duo will be John Madden and Pat summerall, J.R. Jim Ross and Jerry the King Lawler.....Stone Cold and Mr. McMahon, AND Nate and Micah.
Batman and Robin was the first one to pop into my head
Tom and Jerry are still icons
This show is one of the rare show that gets my mom laughing
By far my favourite Tom & Jerry episode is (Down Beat Bear) Everytime when Jerry turns the music turns on, the bear always tries to dance with Tom while Tom is trying fighting Jerry & Dial the Police for the reward. Its So FUNNY!
I would add two more to the runners up that are ones I particularly enjoy: the one where Jerry’s uncle visits before his performance on tv and constantly pulls Tom’s whiskers to replace his broken guitar strings; and the one in Spain where Tom is a world renowned mouse catcher and Jerry is El Magnifico 😂
34:49 So, there no in-between is there?
When I saw The Kittens in The Bag, I thought it was The Kittens from The Other Episode which I think Three Kittens are Bullied both Tom and Jerry and they team up to get them out (I think they even the same colours as well)
11:17 The drums. 🪘🪘
I LOVE Jerry and Jumbo! One of my favorite episodes.
He should've put the Zoot Cat though.
I do agree with Whoopi's stance on Mammy. I love her, personally.
Eh, the modern ones have their moments. Even the first movie. Any time they're not talking or helping the girl is enjoyable.
5:53 BALLS OF STEEL
As a Hungarian, I am proud that we also got a role in Tom and Jerry with my music 😊🇭🇺
Man, I Love Your Videos, The Solo Videos Are Just As Enjoyable As The Ones Where You Have Friends To Watch Videos With You. Keep Up The Good Work & Hope You Are Doing Great Today! :)
10:00 i'm getting eerie similar feels to a Disney mickey mouse short called "The Worm Turns".
the 'HELP! GOD! LET ME OUT!' funny bit was from 1952's Cruise Cat.
The two musketeers had one of the darkest endings in the entire show perhaps except the final episode
Most iconic duo? I got a few. Abbott and Costello. Laurel and Hardy. Kenan and Kel.
Batman and Robin, Mario and Luigi, Sonic and Tails, and Goku and Vegeta are all very iconic duos in my opinion.
Iconic duos
Batman and Robin, Mario and Luigi, Shrek and Donkey
16:33 knowing damn well ill be doing it again if 3 hours to top it off
Geographically speaking, I was thinking of Tom and Jerry being either from Pennsylvania or New Jersey, if they're close to New York.
Im Very surprised this isn't used as a meme 16:10 cause there so many Options with This lol
Did see these mentioned in the comments so I show them love
1. Pebbles & Bamm Bamm
2.Cow & Chicken 🐓
3.Dexter & Dee Dee
4. Popeye & Olive Oil
11. I remember doing a cringy dub of this episode where Tom was a literal vampire.
10. Always a favorite, no matter what time of year it is.
9. I actually find this one disturbing. It could be on Dark Toons
8. I think this is my favorite of the "Jerry need help" episodes. I wish they brought Muscles back in the original show.
7. I saw this short way before I saw Sleeping Beauty, so eat that, Disney. XD
6. This one is very sweet and cute. And it's nice to see Tom show concern for Jerry as well.
5. This one disturbed me when I was younger. At least it was a dream. Also, I love Jerry's utter confusion at the end.
4. I love the music and scenery in this one. A short, but sweet story.
3. Another classic. The only thing Rhapsody Rabbit has over it is that Bugs mouths the M word at the end. But T&J did that joke too, in another short. And did it better.
2. I actually haven't seen this one in years. It was on a disc I lost. I need to find it again.
1. Honestly, this one is funny, but I also find it profoundly disturbing. Besides the infamous "Don't You Believe It" moment (which is actually a reference to another old TV show). The fact that Tom keeps the injuries he acquires, he slowly loses his mind over the course of the episode, and he freaking DIES at the end, it feels like a creepypasta.
Although, I will admit, the part where he bursts through the ceiling is great. I always imagine someone living upstairs and randomly seeing him in their floor. XD
Buggs Bunny and Daffy Duck, The Two Ronnies, Morcambe and Wise, Dennis the Menace and Gnasher, Dastardly and Muttley
10:00
…which is a complete ripoff of the Mickey Mouse cartoon entitled, “The Worm Turns.”
🧐
Batman & Robin are an iconic duo, I submit them for consideration.
22:03 disturbing, yes, but i learned this from a rap critic vid reviewing the censored eleven:
actually, kitten drowning was a thing lots of people used to do to control the cat population.
heck, an oscar-winning disney pluto cartoon short called 'lend a paw' opens with a nearly drowned kitten in a bag.
I have analog so we get MeTV from our local FOX station and they play cartoons every Saturday morning. It's Popeye and Pink Panther (with some other Fleischer and UA cartoons) from 5-6, Tom and Jerry (along with other Tex Avery and Harmon-Ising MGM cartoons) from 6-7, Woody Woodpecker (and other Universal cartoons) from 7-8, and Looney Tunes from 8-9.
38:01, 38:08 so much it's used again in 1953's The Missing Mouse.
"Back in my day, we weren't so goddamn sensitive like you kids. We drowned kittens!"
Nah, They still do... That's the most messed up part about it!
The Jeckle and Hyde one was the only time I actually feared for Tom. One more hit from Jerry will result in complete obliteration.
List of Iconic duos for me:
Ren and Stimpy
Rick and Morty
Timon and Pumbaa
Beavis and Butt-Head
Whenever I used to sleep over at my cousins I would play boomerang while I slept but if your curious what is a more iconic duo well I can name a good handful
Scooby Doo and gang (and every other mystery group)
The super pets (which was a thing)
SWAT Kats (which was more of a short then a full show)
Every looney Tunes and their emery
The Flintstones
Tom and Jerry (of course)
Batman and Robin (duh)
(I’m just going to stop because I’m starting to become brain dead trying to remember them all but I do wanna call attention to this to see how many people remember this one episode where every mystery met each other like all of them I’m not joking either I clearly remember Scooby Doo and gang meeting all the other mystery gangs that are out there it was pretty weird um anyways I said what I wanted to so um yeah)
Even to this day I still laugh at the older Tom and Jerry episodes.
Batman and Robin, Mario and Luigi, peanut butter and jelly.
Wile E coyote and the roadrunner shaggy and Scooby Doo bugs bunny and Daffy duck and Tom and Jerry are some of the greats
Not used to seeing Nate by himself. Lol
0:00-3:13-3:38-
OG Tom and Jerry was my childhood
