Pro's Guide to Tactical Tracking | Into The Woods | Episode 2

- Initially discovered signs lead Boris and his team into thicker vegetation. Visibility is very low and signs by wild animals in the area are making their job more difficult. The team will have to take a methodical approach with tactics pioneered by the British in the 1960s and used to great effect by the infamous “Tip Toe Boys” - British SAS, Australian SASR and the New Zealand SAS operating in SE Asia in the 1970s.
An environment like this can pose a dilemma for the lead tracker. A threat can be very near. He needs to look down to follow the sign on the ground but needs to look up to scan for threats; two jobs he can’t do at the same time. To deal with this, Boris uses a proven method called the 5-Step Track Pursuit Drill.
Dense vegetation and forest floors often require the team to track on colour change alone, and it’s easy to lose the sign temporarily or get distracted by foul sign. How the team deals with this is going to determine success or failure. Fortunately, they are familiar with the 4-Step Track Casting Drill.

I've learned a few things from 50 yrs of hunting and having tracked wounded deer for other hunters. Just a idea--cut yourself a stick that's the length of a step or stride when you first encounter the trail. when you lose the track STOP and place the stick on the toe print of the last visible track ---next gently sweep away the leaves looking for a pressure imprint at the tip of the stick. I've used this tracking deer in leaves and trespassing hunters on my farm . People are much easier to track than deer. Deer can suddenly jump 12 ft in a totally different direction of travel. I once spent 4 hrs at night tracking a wounded deer for a friend. I found it. Great satisfaction. Hope this helps someone.
Same at my place. I got a dog and thermal scope now though. Nothing has gotten away yet.
Sick
I was going to say that this sounds a lot like tracking deer! But I'm just getting here.... ;) I really enjoy their CQB videos!
Tracking humans that are trying to hide their tracks is much more difficult than tracking animals
@@dabenzel45 well thats basically cheating lol
Me: *wants to watch a video about tracking*
Also me: *gets to see a cinematic masterpiece*
Exactly
Gotta say, this guy knows his stuff. It's not like the movies where you track someone or something while running through the woods. It's a slow tedious process that is exhausting.
We could listen to Boris sharing his knowledge for hours.
The Kilnor Absolutely, spot on mate 👍🏽👍🏽
@@borisvos1971 Some nice tips for when track is lost. We can use it when tracking with our dogs, although the speed is a little higher there since the dog does the lead...
Unless you are doing a hot pursuit then the drill and formation changes and you are literally moving at a rapidly pace. Awesome explaination and demonstration of initial probe and cast drill. Nice work Boris!
Isn't it time sensitive though cuz then the person/s might get a lead on ya?
Such high quality...
You guys deserve nothing less. 👊
Colombia táctical special force... Nice
@@ufprogear fukn A bro's 👊🏾
Professional as hell.
Some of the best instructional videos and production quality out there for this type of content
Thanks, we couldn't have done it without Boris and his exceptional proficiency.
UF Pro, y'all got my vote ALL day long. Very smart, educational, & informative
I think those dislikes come from the persons who were tracked.. i really don't know how to dislike these great information videos which have such effort put into it. This playlist is just awesome and precious.
Not gonna lie, I could watch UF PRO videos all day, the production quality is very very high and the information on them is fantastic. Beautiful video.
imagine this man playing hide and seek
The US Border Patrol does this every single day
if he plays, he will probably banned from the server, because of the cheating
hallo Boris and UF PRO. Id like to say that I relly enjoyed your video, well dune. I served as a combat tracker in the IDF and actuely lernd a lot of new things that we did not do as well as a lot of things that are the same. also it was interesting to see you explain how to track while covering the front, we usde to just have somone in the force whos job it was to follow the tracks while evryone else would cover him.
hope to see the rest of the series soon and thank you.
adam shiler Hi Adam. I have never had the honor of working with IDF trackers, they are legendary. Thank you for your comment. Respectfully, Boris
This is a perfect fusion of cinematography and practical concise information. Bravo.
I was constantly checking RUclips all day waiting for this 2nd episode, I am even more impressed
You guys are really professional, keep it up, can't wait for next Monday
You should make a real full movie!
We're open to title suggestions. 😎

"UF PRO: The Movie".
The badass strike squad wearing UF PRO gear heads into the woods to track down rogue mercenaries who use dynamic entries instead of limited penetration (the latter CQB method is used by the good guys). Combat is brutal since there are "reality checks" with drawing guns and knives.

Lovely video..its really good and has a lot of information..now I can track my dog..if he ever runs away lol..and keep up the good work UF Pro you never fail to provide such good content.
Nice work guys! One of the best courses I've ever done and instructed on here in NZ.
Daiman Katu Thank you, that’s high praise. NZ trackers are considered to be among the best in the world. Stay safe 🙏🏽
On point aye bro, this would be a good hook for the vt cse
Not only is this topic totally interesting, the production value ist amazing
Great as always! always down for the sudden burst in activity lately :D
Good guide in the fundamentals in tracking, with the fundamentals in mind you'll need to ad experience and that only comes with practice. I'm tracking my self each day, following my own tracks from the last dog walk, give me tracks that are of diffrent times, from 4-5 h up to a week old. Keep up the good work.
8:57 - Note that Boris keeps the search area as uncontaminated as possible if the track is lost. This is tip top tippy toe of the dark arts.
This is a great explanation of tracking! Would be an awesome learning experience to learn from these guys for a few weeks.
This was amazing. Came for the info, and got a pretty sick movie by the end.
Great production value video! Camera, cut, grading, audio and GUI integration are done very well.
I continue to be very intrigued by this video. As a old woodsman, I am very interested in this type of training. Thanks so much for allowing this to be on you tube.
Plot Twist: He is actually tracking the camera team
😂

Incredible knowledge, astonishing video-edit.. Slow paced, no action actually, but watching it keeps my heart rate speeding, as if I was watching some best thriller-action movie! With that narration of Mr. Vos and background music, I feel like I was that tracked "target".. And I know I can only lose that game. :)
Excellent video! Loosing the track was something i really hoped y'all addressed
The production was awesome, the cinematic was spectacular. I loved it
UF Pro, to you guys got it going on. Between the clothing & hear y'all offer & the videos y'all have available. Thanks guys from the bottom of my heart, for real, for releasing the info. & education about the things y'all talk about
Outstanding! Excellence. Master Scout Boris Vos is well articulated and conveys his thoughts so clearly. Again, thanks for sharing.
I actually did some tracking today - just some boot tracks off of a trail I regularly travel. They lead me to a whole new area of the woods, super beautiful. Good practice
I love how beautifully cinematic this is
next part, next part, next part!!!
Heads up for UF Pro. These video serieses lately.. god damn, such high quality content! Keep the good work up, really enjoy watching these videos!
Brings back memories. I really enjoyed VT. Good video
This is great stuff. I love the cinematics with the training combined
Great graphics and explanation of the basics mate. Those casting drills sure do soak up the time especially if you have to move from the initial cast into an extended cast. Patience, discipline and honesty are only a handful of the key attributes of a VT and team. This will pay dividends when a VT loses the sign. Maintaining discipline is paramount. Communicate whatever you are seeing to your VT2 who should be standing by the LDS and scanning his arcs. The "target," will almost always follow the path of least resistance. Track on and happy hunting mate.
You are 100% right mate, great comment! I can see you did your fair share of it.
Boris Vos. Stellar graphics mate and great explanations. Well done DS keep up the excellent work. Track on and happy hunting.
H P thank you, humbled. Stay well all of you, you earned it 🙏🏽🙏🏽
love this. Thank you! Would love more bush content.

@@landofwolves thanks man :)
Bro this is actually genius stuff that I do automatically but don't ever think about but now that I can think about it I'll be more efficient. Thanks bro!
You guys should do a Movie where every piece of knowledge you guys have in your channel I mean where there are escenarios such as tracking, cqb, etc. Im sure as hell everybody in here would LOVE IT! Thank you so much for the videos I loved this one so much!
excelentes videos, excelente explicacion, excelente manera didactica para enseñar por medio audio visual. Gracias UF PRO!!!
You can always learn something new from different point of views… good work!
Superb content as always 🔥🔥🔥
Best branded content so far!
Thank you for the excellent video!
Stuff like this keeps me subbed!! Love your work!!
There is a slight difference to the track pursuit drill that we do down under. Cover man comes up and all members go to the knee to lower the patrols signature. And added process is to look through the vegetation for the quarry prior to moving forward as a lead scout. All senses are used prior to setting off on a trail. Sight, smell, sound and touch. Brilliant video
Excellent skills ! Like it !
Excellent comme la premiere. A proposer plus en France.
This is awesome. Good video.
Again, really well done. Thank you so much!🙂
Fascinating stuff. I read “The Tracker” by Tom Brown Jr years ago. This is next level.

You are welcome.

Thanks for Detail work. In style
Very good, informative. Like others said, you guys need to do a movie! This topic reminds me of learning to track deer when I was a young Hunter.
What that was just awesome 👌 good work
The cinematography + the sound track= chills up and down my spine.
The fact that this is educational, a wonderful bonus. You will make a feature length, Right? I would pay theater rates for this kind of quality.
Holy shitttttt how did I just discover this.. absolutely incredible. Thank you so much for sharing this info
Awesome job
The next epic and cinematic movie series. Amazing, gear in action.
Uf pro 4life
great work,
Still my all time favorite tactical channel
Useful information, high-quality material. Just fine
amazing stuff
Super well explained. Superb vid!
Series is helpful. I've had to do some tracking a few times already in my line of work
Learned a lot today! Thank you very much. Greets from the Netherlands, T.
The post edit of and camera operator's movements make these face shots (like the handsign moment etc) look like a high budget videogame cutscene or animated movie scene, that's cool
LOVE THIS!!!!!
Pretty interesting. Keep them comming please.
I'm going to try and apply this on my next hunting trip, I'm just about useless unless there is a blood trail. Thanks for the solid information
i learned so much from this, thank you
thank you for showing us
Holy shit! This is better than most movies
