I had a supercharged 3.0 2007 one and just had it junked today. It had 198,000 miles on it when the engine seized. I rode it good on the road but on the trails and through puddles it was an absolute beast. Miss it so much already
We've taken our '09 Hybrid on some pretty fun stuff. My favorite part is getting it teetering on 2 wheels with traction control off. Turn on traction control, just give it a little throttle, and let the computer figure it out, works every time.
Really liked this. We have a 2016 f150 fx4 and a 2012 escape. We almost always take the escape in the bush, usually with a canoe, our kayaks or paddle boards on my racks looking for new small fishing holes. It’s small, turns around almost anywhere and is very capable as long as you apply common sense and don’t try to convince yourself you’re in a Jeep! Lol. Ours has been in many tight roads and trails. All I’ve done is put on the biggest tires I could fit. We’re in the market for a new everyday vehicle, I’m thinking of keeping my escape and doing some improvements on it for our dedicated bush buggy! Glad to find someone else who has discovered how capable they are in the right hands😊. Love your set up. Would like to find a front push bar like yours!
A lot of people underestimate and disengage the traction control on the '08-'12 Escapes. Just give it enough to let the wheels spin a little, and the computer will figure it out pretty quick and apply the brakes on the spinning wheel. Of course, diff locks would be awesome, but I can't find any that fit.
@@8opposite200 what are you goals with the car? they are 4x4 but have no low range and this really is a big issue on hills. mine is the 3.0l v6 and it uses lots of fuel 450 kilometres per tank. but it is a very comfortable car and if you dont plan on going tough 4x4ing they are a brilliant car,
@@8opposite200 if your plans are for proper off roading i would suggest a car with low range as well. these are a nightmare for bullbars or a winch as they are a unibody car (very weak structurally compared to a 4x4 with big chassis rails)

I have a 03 escape, I use 30.5 /15's. Our deer camp road little rough last mile. Long section of corduroy road. Some of the logs have long gone rotten. Xtra heights, no hitting anything. God bless from Nova Scotia.
Ive done colorados, crystal mill in my 2002 fwd escape, stock. Also did old mt lemmon road, bottom to top outside of tucson.... give this beast some credit! That v6 will power it through long as you have a wheel on the ground! Ive crawled some serious inclined rock steps and it never even acts like it has trouble! It will grip over some serious terrain! I take that thing where i only see lifted 4x4 at and i am always impressed!
if your not looking to go to crazy you can find some good off road tires for grip but if you want better ground clearance and better approach and departure angles then a lift and bigger tires are necessary
Should have a traction control button under the a/c controls. Disabling that prevents the computer from cutting engine power. If you get it on 2 wheels where a locker would help, turn the traction control back on ease on the throttle until the computer figures it out. Also, make sure it actually is AWD. All you have to do is walk behind it and you'll either see a rear differential, or a differential sized hole in the rear axle.
I've seen videos of Ford Escape vehicles off road from several different content creators. I can't help but notice that ALL of them are 2012 or older (usually by several years) versions. I wonder why you don't see 2013 or newer Ford Escapes off road?

2012 and older Escapes are actually entirely different than 2013 and up. The 2012-Down Escapes loosely share the same platform with the Fusion, and have larger tires, more ground clearance and suspension travel, etc. They're actually pretty similar to an XJ Cherokee, but with IFS front and back rather than solid axles, and FWD/AWD instead of RWD/4X4 2013-Up Escapes are more closely related to the Focus. As a result, everything on them is sized down and not really offroad worthy at all. Just ground clearance and tires alone are significantly smaller. They really are just a crossover, and were a step backward in my opinion.
Not really man, the escapes can’t really be lifted too much. My suggestion would be if you want more ground clearance go with a larger tire and cut some of the fender

Yeah I contacted the company and they said they weren’t sure on I it would work. So I did research and couldn’t find any difference between the 07 and the 06 so I got them and they work fine
Noah Hitt Had a feeling. Currently looking to lift my 06 as well, might go the budget route with coil spacers etc. Awesome seeing some recent videos being uploaded of the escape, most others I've seen are years old.

I got a stock 05 and it goes anywhere I need it to. Thinking about getting some beefier tires but that's all I'll need.

Only thing i feel is missing from my 07 Escape is a Diff lock

Do not buy a Jeep Liberty. A Ford Escape, while not a Toyota, is the much more reliable option.

You are starting to get to the point where I would worry about the axels. I would suggest the OME and some larger tires for the ground clearance

Disable your abs. My 08 wouldn't even go through mud, then i disabled the abs and i can go anywhere now.

2 inch spacer up front, taller springs in the back and some 33's and you'll be golden.
