I selfishly hope troy never retires, such a reliable positive energy and wholesome vibes. It might be a small impact on the grand scheme but I truly believe Troy makes the world a better place.
If he's planning to get to max VR in 8D by playing only in worldwides it's going to take him a while, so don't worry.
Most VR grinders mostly play on regionals bc it's free from what I'm aware of, and they also use multiple accounts.
He definitely does make the world a better place, and will inspire others to do so as well. Whatever the scale of his impact, goodness is goodness. It is no small thing!

30K VR is a significant milestone, I remember when I got to 30K, ever since I got stuck between 31-32K gaining Vr really slowly, you can really feel the difficulty gap grinding them. I'm pretty sure you're going to surpass me Troy XD
My favourite non-meta combo is this:
Tanooki Mario
Gold Kart
Leaf Tyres
Peach Parasol
Basically just trying to minimise traction while maximizing MT. It's a bit of a silly combo, but I think it's the most fun you can have in mario kart 8 deluxe. I was using it before the balance patch, and after the balance patch it got a little better. Also works pretty well with the rollers, slim tyres, and slick tyres if you want a different ratio of traction:MT. The idea is that having low traction gives you super, super outside drifts, which lets you start drifting sooner and get more miniturbos out. It also has a lot of handling, which makes it feel really nice to control. Having such low traction also means that, when you drift one way and immediately countersteer the other way, you basically go straight sideways and you can so some super fun manoeuvres on particularly windy tracks like mario circuit 3.

33:35 - My favourite combo in MK8 is probably Koopa Troopa with the Pipe Frame and Roller wheels. It reminds me of Super Mario Kart where Koopa was also my favourite character.

I started watching your videos arnd a month ago, and I gotta say, I watch these while I eat, before I sleep, and when I just feel like having a good time. Ever since then, I started playing Mario Kart more, and I've become WAY better. I just played and got first place four times in a row, then after that got second. That has't happened to me before I watched your videos.

Custom vehicle colours alongside character outfits would be excellent for the next MK. Just give custom loadouts to quick select character/vehicle combinations if you're worried about people taking too long to pick their combos.

My favourite non-meta combo is Bowser Jr, Yoshi bike, azure wheels and paper glider. I feel like inside drift takes the other racers off guard sometimes, and Bowser Jr is my favourite character

Troy talking about London Loop got me thinking. Burnout Revenge for the original XBox has a very memorable London track. I always remember crashing into the archways at inhuman speeds, and also wrecking other vehicles against them!

My main combo is Light Blue Shy Guy, Sports Bike, Azure Rollers, Parachute Glider.

I always liked Iggy on the wiggler with cushion tires and cloud glider for no good reason. It looks silly I guess.
I'm late to this, but my fav combo is Bowser/Dry Bowser with the Koopa Clown Car, Monster Tires, and Gold Glider.

I’m a Yoshi, Yoshi Bike (inward drift), Rollers, Paper Glider player. It has the same stats as Yoshi Teddy, so it’s essentially the Inward meta combo. Sometimes I’ll play Luigi for that extra speed, though.
personally, in terms of aesthetics, isabelle + cat cruiser + slim + mktv parafoil is my favorite combo, though my personal main is small mii + streetle + roller + flower glider
i just really like the yellow and pink color palette with isabelle and the cat cruiser, plus cat cruiser has my favorite kart design and isabelle is one of my favorites in mk8dx, i love her voice animations and general design
as for my actual main, i love this combo so much, it feels so smooth to make turns and it's mini turbo is amazing, like i don't know, everything just clicks with this combo and i find myself messing up way less than i have before
...okay fine i'll explain why i'm using a lightweight- i just feel more comfortable playing as a small character rather than medium or large characters, i consider my fondness for small things a character trait of mine, i just, i don't know i just like being small and take any chance i get to have it be that way
plus i think it's a contributing factor with the smooth turn thing, like i don't know if i just have better luck with them or if it's just a skill issue lmao but i find myself falling off a lot more with bigger characters, though i feel like that's just because i'm used to playing as small characters therefore i can and will make turns closer to the off-roads, i can't get rid of that habit when playing as any other size sooooo yeah sorryyyy not switching

Honestly, my favorite combo in general is actually Luigi, Standard Kart, Standard wheels, and MKTV Paraglider. Everything else feels uncomfortable to control.

33:37 Not sure how well I can answer this question since I have never used the meta before at any point in time, but I'm rockin Link, Comet (inside drift), Leaf. I'm in the belief that if the game only had inside drift that this would be the meta. My build has only gotten better as the updates roll out 🤣
