Didn't finish all books, but at one point he has some business with a mermaid and an influential town person. He encounters basically atlantis people. Humanoid fish creatures with architecture near the surface on the coast. They are stronger and faster than average and he has a lot of trouble just getting away from a bunch of them attacking with sword like things. @@missing507

I have mild thalassophobia, i remember swimming and sailing every part of skellige to look for loot (not worth it btw), and finding an edge to the world. Theres a part of the game where the land has a steep drop to pitch black pit, and i could see whales swimming in the distance. That alone was enough for me to nope out of there
Anyone who doesnt have at least mild thalassophobia isnt right in the head. Its a near endless amount of stuff you cant breathe in and its big and murky enough to hide things the size of skyscrapers just a couple dozen meters away from you.

Had that experience with a mod in minecraft called the dimensional doors, there are consequences for falling into the void while being in the dimensions

Every time i went to Skellige and did diving quests or when i had to dive in the last wish for the djinn to search for boats, my hands would shake and my heart would beat so fast due to the sirens and drowners. But this giant beast takes the cake.
I have bad Thalassophobia, but my brain really want to watch it well, obviously nothing make you screen shake this way in the Witcher 3, and this leviathan is obviously from Subnautica. Welp, would have still shivered if I didn't scaled down the video to a 4th of my screen. Also, the absence of underwater ambiance sound helps

@@Lupo-Exulans worse yet, I played Subnautica Crusing the surface using the upper cyclop cam to look at the sky and closing my eyes and muting the game to dive in thhe darkness really is an experience haha The cyclop also has this feature, a medium range radar that allow oneself to see the far away walls as red mesh. It really helps. There's also a base room that gives a hologram of the neibhour ocean floor/caverns

If that really was in the game - I would never ever again try to use boat in this game. Fear of something unknown under the depths of the sea is way too strong

witcher 3 is masterpiece, only which missing is biiiiggg sea monster (in game we have drowners, and sirens). If they will make in this DLC few sea monsters, and few normal monster like manticore, zeugl it will be fantastic...
@TheGrumpyGinger okey bro, but you don't fight with Kejran in Witcher 2, you always have small islands on sea you can use them and lure monster for one off them. And normal fight or harder fight.

My first play through, a whale was coming straight at me from a distance, but I only saw it's flipper and the waves. I screamed thinking it was a sea monster about to attack my boat.
If i remember the books correctly, Geralt once said that when the first witchers were created, expansion on seas wasn't the priority so they are unfit to fight in water.

The sea was the only part of The Witcher 3 that seemed empty - it's a shame they hadn't put a few terrifying monsters there.
I think its more terrifying that there is nothing.
They were supposedly going to have more underwater stuff, combat etc but ran out of time during development.
