In the video Juan takes part in a linguistic challenge: does he know the meaning of a word or a phrase in Spanish or Castilian that the interviewers ask him in Catalan? And even harder, can he repeat tongue twisters? Don’t miss it!

The more I study catalan I see that there are many similarities with Italian that aren't found in Spanish.
Example:
Italian: il mio gatto
Spanish: mi gato
Catalan: el meu gat
Ciao Chau 🇮🇹🇪🇸
Even clearer:
I want to eat fish tomorrow
Italian: voglio mangiare pesce domani
Catalan: vull menjar peix demà
Spanish: quiero comer pescado mañana
Catalans and italians have a shared past of centuries of commerce and cultural exchange and even during centuries a fair amount of what is today Italy was part of the catalan nation. The catalan heritage is spread through all these areas and manifests in very different ways.

@Master Ahsoka Tano yeah it's due to Arabic influence in castilian or Spanish, and Catalan didn't get that huge amount of Arabic words and vocabulary
BTW Alghero (Alguer) in Sardinia is an Italian town were the local idiom is basically Catalan.
More closer to Occitan.

Most similar phrase to Portuguese (my mother tongue) is ''D'aquí tres mesos tindrem um fill'' (''Daqui a três meses teremos um filho''). Other sentences are so hard to assimilate, even for a romance language...

Em va sorprendre veure que en català es diu "tinc mal de panxa". En italià diem "ho mal di pancia" ("cia" en italià sona exactament com "xa" en català).

To me, Catalán sounds like if Portuguese and French had a baby, but it didn't inherit the nasal vowels. Imo, it doesn't sound as much like Spanish as one would assume from the orthography.

Catalán es como una mezcla bien rara de español y francés, es interesante
Viene del Occitano, así como la mayoría de lenguas romances. El Occitano se sigue hablando actualmente, en el Valle de Arán.

Antes que el catalán prefiero saber los 4 idiomas que dominan la tierra: español, inglés, chino y árabe. Con esos 4 ya puedes ir por todo el mundo. El català és un idioma minuritari que només parlen el 20 pero cent Dels catalans, o sigui uns 2 milions de persones
Y como es minoritario que les jodan! Eres libre de consumir el contenido que deses por internet. Pero no mientas, el catalan es hablado por 9 millones de personas, y lo entienden 11 millones. Fuente: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalan_language

No confudir CALIDAD de comunicació y CANTIDAD...
Por todo el mundo puedes ir sólo con el inglés. No te engañes. Árabe, chino y español te van a servir tanto como el catalán fuera de sus áreas de influencia respectivas.
Pd: En Corea me hablaron dos veces en catalán y ninguna en español. Así que la inutilidad del catalán es relativa.😉
