I like chrome os desktop. But normal Chrome os is limited, that's why I like fyde os more than chrome os

@@abzs5811 there's not much Linux support, or more ease of use for it. And Chromebooks have an expiration date. So I just modded mine to have uefi.
Finally, I have RPi 5 in a local store, so I can start using your videos. First, could you provide some guide for all tested passive cooling solutions?

@@leepspvideo Thanks, I watched them all already. I think some summary table will be helpful.
Installed FydeOS on Pi5 8gb and the performance was incredible even from an SD card. Few issues though. As soon as the screensaver would kick in it rebooted itself and installing VS Code, as a Linux app, didn't work. Also the Android Gapps ran terribly, eg RUclips and Gmail. However on the browser they were fantastic. The integration of your Google account is seamless though I can't say I was comfortable with such integration through a third party OS. The Linux implementation feels kind of ring fenced from the rest of the OS. An annoying example is starting a local web server but not being able to access it in the browser, eg Jupyter Labs. Too restrictive to be a Dev machine though perhaps there are ways around these issues. You get 90 days of evaluation before I guess you have to pay up. After giving up on this I discovered installing Cinnamon as the desktop for Pi OS lite and I'm really enjoying the speed of that without these restrictions.
** Update ** the Linux installation of VS Code works if you run it like "code --disable-gpu". Performance is good. Also I'm now running openfyde and I can't tell the difference other than there is no valuation period, it's just free

This would be so interesting for my PI5 case. But my case has a built-in OLED display. Does FydeOS support small OLED screens?

Thanks for the help your video about the boot loader resolved by USB issues. The first December version would not allow 2 usb drivers to be plugged it. Updating the boot loader fixed it. I have a new issue I can not side load APK files on a Ras Pi 5 in Fyde OS. Can you do a video explaining how to do this? I keep getting annoying phone versions of apps. I may have some permission or Google play services issue.

I have a 17 inch chromebook, if you are prepared to invest some time and know how with the Linux side then there is potential to unlock a full laptop with office (libre) and loads of Linux apps. then there is the Android side as well.

As for the Pi 5, I am waiting back until Bookworm is a bit more advanced as I would want to amalgamate both my Pi 4's into one server running Plex, Apache, Samba, Openwebrx servers

It's a operating system made for PC's and Pi's that lets you have chrome os, android, and Linux all on one os, the devs combined it with open source chromium os to get what is fyde os now. It's a great os if you do a lot of web work and android stuff.

Android has millions of apps you can install, Linux also has a wide variety of programs and games.
It’s pretty much the same operating system as Chromebooks use
