I have the Raspad and despite some problems was one of the best investments for a rpi4, and knowing the Rpi5 is compatible with it is an amazing new
Hi Lee! Here is one solution : sudo rpi-eeprom-config --edit , BOOT_ORDER=0xf164 . It worked for me. Thank you for the
the great work!
"... how did I loose that Screw!" - totally deserves a thumbs up... everyone been there, or will be shortly
I used to lose screws; then I bought a box of assorted size laptop screws.
Man! That's so nice! I always wanted to build a Raspberry pi tablet, overclocked but with sufficient cooling and bundled with an nvme ssd. After watching your videos and realizing that the Pi5 can play PS2 & Gamecube games and also thinking that this device is finally powerful enough to play some old PC titles through emulation. I would love if you can make a video with an overclocked pi5 tablet+ssd and test some Box86/Box64/DOSBox emulation, maybe some Steam tests. You do it or not, i want to thank you for the great content of yours. It's always very good quality and a ton of useful info.
This helps a lot. Thanks for another great video Lee.
This is nice, I was considering getting a Raspad myself, I have seen them around and think they are cool, I definitely need to research them further, nice video though!
I have the x1001 board working inside my Raspad with the sdcard extender in place as usual. I needed to trim the plastic fan mounts as you did and mounted the Pi5 without feet on the bottom. The cover just fits and I was able to put in all 5 screws. I am getting a bit more than 2 hrs. battery life also.
I call that a RESULT! I've still got the original RasPad (which doesn't fit a Pi5) but I can see I'll be tempted to upgrade if they revise it much further.
Good video Lee did you manage to get the sound working on Pimiga 4 with the Pi5 yet?
I haven’t tried since. Worth checking the Discord
Thanks Lee for giving ideas on making my RasPad3 even more useful. I normally use it to run my SDRPlay RSP1A or my Hauppauge TV dongle hooked up to my old 20: HP monitor to watch local AST1A TV channels in my bedroom, so having a better CPU will definitely help with those activities. Therefore, I never change operating systems that much, but from your video I can still hookup a SDCard Reader to offload recording from the radio or TV when I feel like it…😊!
The only snag is waiting for my dealer to have the 8Gig model in stock..😮!
In the meantime, I am in the process of purchasing ClockWork Uconsole with the Raspberry Pi IV Lite. I just hope it will arrive before the 3 months shipping that other RUclips viewers have reported…😢!
Have a great day!
I used the Pimoroni NVME adapter which actually had a ribbon cable that allowed me to connect the SD card slot without any issues, and of course I also had to shave off the fan mounts in order to accommodate the Pi5 cooling fan, I also opened matching the "slots" on the back of the case above the RasPad board with a Dremel tool and mounted the fan that came with the RasPad and directly plugged into that board, so I have extra airflow cooling! With the boot order as configured for NVME, I would still like to know how to change OS without dis-assembling the RasPad....?

5:33 To be fair, the NVMe SSD is going to be much faster than the microSD card. Of course I have to externally install any favourite OS into the SSD first without any microSD card in hand, but I can live with such compromise.
Like you, I got my RasPad working with NVME after many attempts I found that many NVME Boards had issues, but found that if I used a Samsung 2230 1tb on a Geekworm X1000 PCIe M.2 Key-M NVMe SSD PIP PCIe Peripheral Board for Raspberry Pi 5 that works great and gives me a GPIO extender (which allows me to connect the rotation sensor also) and after modifying the case (fan standoffs removals) plus I additionally opened up the other grill indentation with a tiny drill the same as it is over the fan slot, and now runs cooler as well. Got both the MVME and Geekworn board on Amazon. Also, my SD slots is open and works great. Hope this helps.
I have my Rsspberry Pi 4 with a Samsung T7 external usb SSD in my Raspad 3. There was just enough room for the SSD over the interconnect cables to the rj45 and usb a ports. It does have to be in the exact position to work and I switched the cables around a bit to avoid too sharp a bend on the ssd cable.
I did this a while back and it's not worth it. 1. you can't get any of the script like auto rotate working with pi five and new OS 2. even without the Pi5 the battery drains in about 45 minutes.
I also consider to use a Raspad 3 with Raspberry Pi 5 and a NVME drive. But what about the Power Consumption. The official Power Supply is a 5 V 5A. So can the Raspad power the Raspberry Pi 5 plus a NVME driver without to get an undervoltage warning?
Yes

@@leepspvideo So do you also recomended the Raspad 3 with a moderate overclocked Raspberry Pi 5 with a NVME SSD?
The strength is definitely flexibility. Install loads of different operating systems with a full desktop web browser, super easy retro gaming. The major downsides are size and poor battery life. (Worse if you Overclock). I guess it’s whether it offers you something you need that an iPad doesn’t @@awakeburndownwtandletthego4629
The ethernet cable is too short for this modification and put too much stress on the connectors. I modified mine as shown; but, the ethernet connection is intermittent and keeps failing. Very frustrating!
Any manufacturer / open source 3D Printing project out there to build a *flat tablet* so that the M.2 fits *on the side* of the Raspberry Pi 5 ? (not on top or below because of heat). Ideally the tablet should have internally temperature sensors and a laptop-like flat fan to expel the heat on its side, at least for the M.2 drive.
Is the battery module removable so you can get higher capacity ones? Thanks for the video.
I dislodged it at on point by accident. It seems to be fixed with double sided tape
Unrelated, could you do a video with geforce now on raspberry pi?
How is box64 performance?

Too bad that the two seemingly custom short micro hdmi cable are not available in the marketplace. Raspad store does not sell it as sparepart. If you know where to buy.
Unfortunately I don’t
I can report that the Raspad3 Tilt sensor does not fit if you have the raspberrypi 5 official cooler. It might be possible to make it work if you solder on some connectors and attach it with wires.
How long will the tablet run with such a battery?
@@vityapotapchuk depends what you are doing. It’s no iPad for battery life. The Pi 4 lasts a couple of hours
@@leepspvideo actually i want to make a tablet on pi5 and now i am looking for a solution for portable power (5v,5amps). I saw cutiepi but it is built by cm4(5v,3amps)
@@vityapotapchuk compute module 5 should be out sometime soon
Can you make video and check, or possible install libreelec in nvme disk.
I installed it to an sd card, should be the same with nvme. I just used Raspberry Pi imager.

Yes, the same type you would use on most iPhones and Android phones
In Michael Rosen's manner: NOICE! ✨
I am thinking to get out my Dremel tool and “modify” my Crow Pi L laptop case for Raspberry Pi 4 so it will take a Raspberry Pi 5
Hi, I have a problem. I‘ve inserted the RPI5 in the raspad. With SD it will boot. The NVME is on the way, but I wanted a first test with USB.
It won‘t work. The Raspi says: Not enough energy for USB. Did you have the same problem?
@@christianpreiss8246 no, your usb could be using more power than nvme. I would avoid Overclocking inside the raspad as that will use more power.and run hotter.
PCI’s boards that take power from gpio pins can be more forgiving than usb storage.
I discussed it in a video, can’t remember which one, maybe
