@Jaxtyn Allan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Wow, great to see the android GTA games could run smoothly on the pi400, I think it could actually serve as a super light gaming device with this OS...neat!
Android by far is amazing on the Raspberry Pi, In fact i do use it for gaming sometimes. My raspberry pi is overclocked to 2.0 Gigahertz but running pubg at Low, Balanced. Runs perfectly. About Minecraft I have a modded version or a mod that lowers the graphics but does not make the look trash and it works very well. I also got Roblox and I Know what the comment section is gonna say why ROBLOX. But ROBLOX runs very well a least in the lower end games, Prison Life runs totally fine normally, MeepCity runs completely fine. If this was a basic device you wanted to give your kids for gaming it would not do to bad, tho you might want to overclock the CPU and GPU for better performance like that I did
If your priority is having access to the greatest software library possible in one OS, this is the ticket. I just really wish they would release an 8GB Pi400, then I would totally recommend that plus this as a basic and cheap computer.
Been using it for 1 month and works great for almost all except Rar files, the official chrome os handle them ok but fyde os can’t open them for a reason. Also retro arch works very bad.
RAR is closed source and requires a license to ship with the OS, which is why ChromeOS official has it but ChromiumOS builds do not. You can use an Android app or a Linux app to handle RAR archives.
Trying to see if I can setup my old 1 year old pi to run on ChromeOS if it would be easier to use for online class learning if I give it to my niece. Will FydeOS be better than LineageOS running android12 from KonstaT?
@eta prime how did you manage to resize the system once you booted up from the sd card? I got the image from github on their official releases, but it is stuck on only 2.2 gigs free and it needs at least 3 to enable android and linux apps. I did this on a raspberry pi 4 with 4gigs of ram and a 32 gigs sd card.
my kids use this as an every day driver in the pi400s. Three glitches I found One is that while BT controllers work fine Bluetooth audio skips and causes the pie to run slow, no matter the speaker or headphones. I just bought my kids the $5 Raspberry Pi USB audio dongle, and now they plug in headphones instead of wireless, the HDMI audio also works well, just BT is boned. The second glitch is any ad based games seem to lock up or fail to load the ad and it hangs. Luckily they are 5 and 7 and so far all the kid games that are ad based can just be bought ad free for a couple bucks. The third glitch I found is any streaming apps crash randomly, but the web browser works fine, so they stream from our plex server through the web browser app. But none of those glitches have been showstoppers, and since the kids already have a ton of Android games on their tablets and use Chromebooks at school it's probably the easiest OS to get them familiar with and interested in the pi. They love their new "computers" and was more of a hit than I expected. They are paired with 15.6" portable LCD monitors, and I swapped out the pi mice for those tiny little portable mice with the retractable cord to fit thier little hands better. They are on their pi400s so much the wife is starting to become concerned lol.
These days Fyde is really getting good. Use it on my Lenovo Carbon X1 Gen 1 and it runs just as good as a Chromebook Pixel from 2013. But with android app support. Also the only game streaming I got working is Steam Link. Works great honestly.
I downloaded the program and getting ready to flash it to a card. Only question is how is the sound coming of the system? Is it coming from HDMI or the out on the pi?
Yes, a FydeOS tutorial would be great. It seems that FydeOS comes from China and they have done a great job porting a ChomeOS-like OS to the Raspberry Pi 4.

the true test really is youtube, but the main reason we will never see youtube running smooth on raspberry pi is the power consumption needed to run youtube, basicly the pi can't pull and run that much power, so smoothest we will see with quality is probably 720, but i'd say 480 is the best you will get. now some streaming services does have way better optimization than youtube, so you will see 1080 run on a raspberry pi, but unfortunately these are DRM free and mostly add free and privacy friendly sites (i can't share any links here) and of course it makes sense that these sites run better, since they do not require a bunch of stuff running in the background.
