ANARTOMY - What is the sympathetic chain?

Is there part of the sympathetic nerves that skip the ganglion and make a ganglion else where then acts on a specific group? (I can't remember the details)

That's right! the splanchnic nerves don't synapse in the sympathetic chain, but instead travel to (and synapse in) ganglia in the abdomen. These are the nerves that provide sympathetic innervation to the abdominal organs.
