  • Don't know your pre-ganglionics from your post-ganglionics? Confused by the gray rami communicans? Then this introduction to the sympathetic nervous system is for you!
    In this video I'll introduce the main terminology of the sympathetic nervous system, before looking at the structure and function of the sympathetic chain.

      Thank you so much for your kind comments on the channel! I'm afraid I've been on a RUclips hiatus as my job involves less teaching these days, but I'm still hopeful I can make a comeback. Either way, I'm really glad you've found these videos helpful!

    Wow! Excellently and very neatly explained, very stylishly too! Kudos! I've seen many videos on this topic even on some MOOCs but nobody has explained it so lucidly and brilliantly as you. The entire thing is so clear! This has been one of my most productive times on RUclips. You are a great educator and a very confident anatomy teacher. The confidence no doubt stems from your mastery of the topic. Thanks for this wonderful video. 👍🙏

    probably one of the best analogies and easiest explanation I've seen thus far. Confusion my one hour lecture could have never cleared.

    Is there part of the sympathetic nerves that skip the ganglion and make a ganglion else where then acts on a specific group? (I can't remember the details)

    • @Anartomy
      @Anartomy  3 года назад +1

      That's right! the splanchnic nerves don't synapse in the sympathetic chain, but instead travel to (and synapse in) ganglia in the abdomen. These are the nerves that provide sympathetic innervation to the abdominal organs. If you want to find out more about them, I've just posted a video drawing them out! ruclips.net/video/ibvceSMys84/видео.html

    Sir ..... sympathetic chain of ganglia is situated both side of the spinal cord or one side ???

    • @Anartomy
      @Anartomy  4 года назад +1

      Hi Shivangi, the sympathetic chain is found on both sides of the body - I've just drawn one side to save time!
