    What difference does the monobloc on the water? Thx for the video! Very insightful!!

      @sanchi Cheers.
      Only had one session with it. Feel is much the same as V2, apart from the size difference when in-between the fingers, I will get used to that. Auto untwist is improved... it was good on V2, so awesome now.
      I like that the Monobloc is so sturdy, I wiped out in the waves a few times without any worry of a tangled main line over one side of the bar.
      There is signs that the Monobloc material will dull / scratch up and have a more matt finish over time, feel this might even help sheeting while steering strangely.

    Hey super helpful review. I have a core sensor 3 pro which has great auto unspin, but terrible ou wear so I am looking an alternative.
    Previously I had the north navigator, but due to mainly looping in one direction the flag out line got so insanely twisted it became dangerous. It would not flag and had terrible wear. Could you confirm if something similar happens with the flag out line here? Do you ever have to pull it out after a session and take out any twists? Many thanks!

    • @kitedependent4785
      @kitedependent4785  2 года назад

      Hi Steven, thanks. The flagging line would not twist up in my opinion. I do generally balance my loops out, so not had it happen. But the Flagging line could spin freely if there was enough tension from multiple loops in one direction I believe. This QR and the Iron heart 5 are really good. You might wear out the flying lines quickly on the X though... It’s the only real downside of the bar.

    • @kilfoilc
      @kilfoilc 2 года назад +1

      Hi Steven I loop 200+ times a session as I always heli-loop or downloop after jumps and then transition loop when turning . The flag line does not get twisted at all on the Dreamstick because the entire assembly spins on the bearing. Thus all the lines twist when you loop and then all the lines un-twist simultaneously when you spin the bar back. This is unlike the designs of FOne, Cabrinha where you have to keep unwinding the middle two lines while the flagging starts to twist-up into a mess.

    Thrilled someone that actually cares about bar hardware did a disassembly of that rotor head. Agreed that the V distributor can be improved (Ozone style metal maybe) and that the loop-loop knot in the flag line can be tricky and needs some refinement. Otherwise bar looks awesome.
    Are you sure the depower line up the monoblock is doubled up (full length two lines) and not a stitched or spliced loop with a single line going up the plastic tube? Thanks for taking off the neoprene cover by the clamcleat at the top, but I could not tell from the video if the depower line is clearly two lines or one line as it exits the top of the tube. I would love for it to be two lines!

      Cheers Martin, happy to help. It's important to note the the bar has a lot going for it.... but yeah, V distributor & reseting after flagging are not quite right in my opinion. More on this soon in Part 2.
      Had a look again at the depower rope in the monobloc.
      At the QR end it is a loop and there is a very small bit of stitching right through the Monobloc & rope that sits out of sight when it is pushed into the rotor head.
      My thinking was this was just to secure the rope during the construction of the bar. It will make it a bit more difficult to remove the rope if an owner wanted to try replacing the rope themselves. I'll still have a go one day.
      There is also a loop up at the clam cleat end as the trim adjuster cord is loop to looped to in. So yes, I think you must right about the single rope, good pick up. It is hard to see without pulling all apart, think the depower rope has a spliced loop at the cleat which will make changing the trim cord easy (no super tight knot to unpick) Not 100% sure how its terminated at the QR end

    Really nice walk through. I wonder why the flag line passage in the tube is so narrow? There seems to be plenty of space for more passage.

      Cheers Thomas, thanks for the support!
      Yes... it is fine once the loop to loop knot is in the tube, it just crashes into the PU centre divider at the very start as it placed in the middle of hole of the quick release body. I'm thinking I'll cut away as small section of the PU on a shallow angle with a craft knife to fix this for a part two video.

      @@kitedependent4785 Hi did you managed to cut out the middle section? Did it made any difference? Cheers.

      @@dzikiadas Hi there, Yes I did carefully remove some of the centre material to improve the reseting operation. Its worth doing if you have the bar. I have changed bars now thought, the line quality is just not there for the X. (In my opinion) I do kite a-lot and find Ozone & Flysurfer lines to be the most hardwearing

  • @stcattc
    @stcattc Год назад

    Random question but had my first session with a dream stick. When winding the lines I almost had a shocker because they slipped off the end of the end sections of the bar when I finished wrapping them up. The section where the lines pack into seem to be very shallow. Is there a better technique to prevent this?

    • @kitedependent4785
      @kitedependent4785  Год назад

      I wind my lines around bar and not in a figure 8. As long as you hold the bar the same way (I do red side up in right hand) when you unwind the lines, you don't put any twists in the lines as they come off. I actual find is faster and less tangles than figure 8. Plus stay on the bar! I run the Ozone bar now, much better quality of components and design, I rate this more than auto untwist.

    Thanx for the video.
    Problems with safety system reset, makes it not reliable in a complex situation for what it should be made for.
    Getting away from one problem ising the release, can take you to another in crowded places or with obstacles.
    Nice in happy path but not reliable in problems time.
    Problemas con el rearmado del sistema de seguridad, hace que no sea fiable en una situación compleja, que es para lo que debería estar hecho.

      Yes, I agree. when you need to just work/reset you really can't be dicking around in the water. I got rid of the bar... but more for the line wear issues I experienced. Got the trusty old Ozone V4 bar.... best quality line and bar I ever had, so much confidence with this one. Woop!

  • @kilfoilc
    @kilfoilc 2 года назад +3

    I have had the Dreamstick X for 6 months now and it's an awesome Bar but it has one major design issue. I loop a lot so the auto--unwind is fantastic. The bearing system is super smooth. BUT ... when looping (heli-loop, down-loop, kite-loop) then I find every so often the bar "bites" into the mono-block if you crank the bar too much. This happens at exactly 45 degrees. So at 50 degrees the bar won't slide on the block and thus you cannot add power or de-power mid loop if you crank it too much. It's a real issue for me which I hope they work on asap. Maybe they can widen the aperture of the guide-hole by 1mm to make the angle before it 'bites' say 55 or 60 degrees or something like that. Anyone got any fix ideas?

    • @kitedependent4785

      Hi, thanks for the comment. I agree the bar auto untwist is very good... my 'But'... with the bar is the line quality though (although I did also experience the odd jamming you describe too). I have sent the Xbar back and got a refund as I just can't be replacing the lines more that 12month minimum. I think i can kill the Reedin lines (as shown in video) in as little as 6 months. I now use a Flysurfer Infinity XX bar that has LIROS Lines!... much, much, much better quality, I have been hammering this bar and have never felt safer boosting as these lines still look new after 6 months now... Only draw back is the auto untwist is very poor by comparison, I feel a modification might be coming soon though ;-)

    Great review.
    Would like your impression about one thing: how smooth the mono block is…..
    Think about foiling. Zero line tension and center line totally dry (when I foil I don’t want to fall 😁). Going downwind I usually keep bar as angled as possible and I push in and out to keep the kite flying. Do you think monoblock is more sticky than the 2 round lines?
    For example duotone mono block is a lot sticky, core sensor 3 tubes are smooth like butter
    Thanks a lot!

    • @kitedependent4785
      @kitedependent4785  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment.
      My first impression of the Monobloc was that even when dry it would allow me to pull it 45° over and still be able to sheet. The construction of the Monobloc is denser and stiffer than the two tubes in the V2... i'm keen to see how this feels in use. (wind tomorrow!) It also has a shiny coating compared to the V2 which now after some use has an almost matt finish as its dulled / scratched up. Question is, will the Monobloc end up with the same finish after time? But I will reserve judgement about smoothness when running at the kite until I have a few sessions in on the X.
      I'll let you know.

    • @filippoi.4138
      @filippoi.4138 2 года назад +1

      @@kitedependent4785 thanks a lot. Of course smoothness must be given by shape, not by smooth finish, or it will last just one week. Center made with rope is a bit ugly and old but really allows complete steering and sheeting. Looking forward your impressions. Thank a lot

    • @kitedependent4785
      @kitedependent4785  2 года назад

      I agree with rope depower bars allowing good steering while sheeting.
      I have a custom bar like that, made from various parts to use with my Flysufer Soul, that kite loves to fly forward and is easy to choke... so being able sheet out while pulling a hard down loop is essential.
      However, I fly PU coated bars more often with LEI's and you get used to flying with PU in-between your index and middle fingers, nice sensory feedback of your sheeting action. Painful when I jump back on the rope bar though as its become second nature. Might have to give FS Infinity XX bar a go.

    • @filippoi.4138
      @filippoi.4138 2 года назад +1

      @@kitedependent4785 I also have an infinity bar from 2019 or 2020. For the Soul it perfect! Mine only has one problem. Chicken loop isn’t smooth as this or duotone, it will not auto untwist and cables remains twisted just after the cickenloop not allowing a complete sheet in unless you untwist manually. Not a big problem, but not again a perfect bar :)
      Core sensor 3 is the closest thing to a perfect bar I think. Luckily I use Duotone so high V is perfect for me

    • @kitedependent4785
      @kitedependent4785  2 года назад +1

      @@filippoi.4138 Glad you have a high V bar that works well for you.
      So, now that Flysurfer are using the Duotone quick release on the new Infinity XX bar this is probably a really good option, hey... perhaps the auto untwist will work better?
      I love the Liros line quality on the SOUL mixer so having kite lines made of this stuff will be reassuring when boosting. Looks like they have moved to a single flagging line bungee like other bars now too :-)
