UPDATE video coming soon on this location. A new retailer is moving in… but they ripped the Toys R Us facade off the front of the building! 😢😢😢
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for some more dead retail visits!!!
Wow! This is an old location! Awesome find!
Thanks! There's not too much down here in Charleston to film. If the building is in a high value area, it usually gets redeveloped fast or demolished if in a bad spot. The Regal Cinema used to be behind the Toys R Us and that was demolished. This building is in a high traffic and heavy retail corridor so it will be something else soon. Thanks for watching! Please stay tuned for more!
Pretty cool video! Thanks for posting!
Thanks RVC!
nice video, appreciated the walkaround of the store. the loading docks were a sad sight because they made me imagine the store in its heyday: trucks pulling in with toys, employees stocking the shelves, kids eagerly waiting to go to the store....
Thanks! Yea, the loading docks are fun to think about everything that was delivered. I am all about those "customer pick up doors!"
My Toys R Us was in Deptford, NJ, across Almonesson Rd. from the mall. It's now an Ocean State Job Lot. But, as exciting as the Customer Pickup doors were out back, the adults could go one better. Next door to the Deptford Toys R Us was a BEST department store. I remember my parents shopping there, using a golf pencil to fill out a small sale slip, and going to pick that thing (whatever it was) up. Both are gone.
Yo! Whats up my guy? We had a BEST in East Brunswick on route 18. Now its a Best Buy. I used to get a lot of G1 Transformers from that BEST. Our Toys R Us was also on 18, but closer to the 18/1 intersection and the turnpike in Loehmanns Plaza
I remember this one! I actually filmed this one a couple of years ago, and I revisited it in February. Great job here!
Yes! Zee, I saw your video on it, not much changes minus the windows being removed in the cart area and the lids to the trash cans must have been stolen. Thanks for watching!
We moved to the Charleston SC area in 2015. That Toys R Us was still open. I think it closed in 2017 maybe. I’m surprised it’s still abandoned.
Yea, I think around 2017/18 for this one. It is a prime spot of retail real estate, but maybe too much square footage?
Been here back in the day. This was one of the bigger better stocked TR US stores. I was lucky enough to take my kids there when they were little. I remember seeing that lit up sign from the road.
Hey Steve! Sorry for the delay in reply. I would have liked to see the old TRU logo and colors from the street back in the day!
This one hits hard. Clearly remember going with my mom and getting Star Wars figures the weeks I had my allergy shots. That was like 1987. Hurts my heart, man.
Hi JN! Yes! I remember original NES games, Gi Joe and Transformers at my TRU back in central jersey as a kid! Buildings like this with facades that made the place exciting to pull up in the parking lot are not out there anymore....
Retail is dead nationwide.
