Originally, Clare Torry was paid the 1973 standard flat fee for Sunday work of 30 British Pounds. In 2004, Clare Torry sued Pink Floyd and EMI for songwriting royalties on the basis that her contribution to "The Great Gig in the Sky" constituted co-authorship with keyboardist Richard Wright. In 2005, an out-of-court settlement was reached in Torry's favour, although the terms of the settlement were not disclosed. All releases after 2005 carry an additional credit "Vocal composition by Clare Torry" for the "Great Gig in the Sky" segment.
She mentioned Alan Parsons who engineered that album .......& later formed his own group....'The Alan Parsons Project'. Hard to believe......that as incredible a history that Pink Floyd has had.........the one & ONLY Grammy award they have ever won......went to Alan Parsons, for his work on 'Dark Side of the Moon'.
They may not have shown it but keyboardist Rick Wright said they were all blown away. They couldn't believe what they had just heard. He said that Claire thought she had blown it when in reality they had been moved by her performance. It's funny how people remember events in different ways.
Oh, the album is doing really well.... 45.000.000 copies, you might say so topping the Billboard chart for 741 weeks straight between 1973 and 1988 and from 2009 another 900 weeks
Not by accident. Remember when Claire said she suddenly thought she "had to be a musical instrument" to do that Gig? Well, that was her higher spiritual self who at that moment suggested that to herself and she went with it. That was the turning point of what made the impossible, possible. And she sang like a wounded angel.
I don't know if you're up for it, but I'd suggest watching the mini documentary of the Making of The Dark Side Of The Moon. It's just a little over 20 minutes and it gives all the needed information on the album. It's a very interesting documentary. Here; ruclips.net/video/jUBnS5G34IM/видео.html
